Things you Collect

I know we have a Buffy collectibles section. But I was curious as to things our members collect besides Buffy merch.

I just got into the Lara Croft 12" and Premium Format figures on Sideshow and am really thinking about the Indiana Jones one.

Other than that kind of stuff mostly just vintage video games and well, games in general.

What about you?

I don't collect anything.

My father does, though. Most importantly, he collects cigarette lighters, and not the crappy ones you normally use and throw away, the ones he has look pretty fabulous. The collection counts over 2000 lighters, doubles not counted (those are in the basement). The pthers are in our living room in a huge glass cabinet, and what can I say, everyone who seems them is really impressed. It's night right now, but maybe tomorrow by daylight I can take some pictures.

I collect books. I have hundreds, possibly thousands of them. When I find an author I like, I hunt down every last book they ever wrote so I can a) read them; and b) support the author so s/he can write more books.

I collect teddy bears. Less than I used to, because I don't have a lot of room for them, but I love teddy bears.

I collect pewter models, the kind that people use for D&D games and such. I paint them and put them on display. Sometimes I paint them and give them out for Christmas presents.

I collect DVDs much the same way I collect books. I have hundreds of those, too. I have almost every movie Johnny Depp's been in, almost every movie Kate Winslet's been in, and I'm working on Jennifer Connelly. I also own the DVD boxed sets for almost every TV show I love.

Needless to say, our apartment's rather cluttered.

I collect stuffed animals. I have one from every vacation I've ever been on. They're not all on display, but they are there, sort of a reminder of the trip.

I also collect figures called 'Willow Tree'. I got one for a birthday present about 5 years ago, and it snowballed from there, people keep buying them. Right now I've got about 8, and there's one I saw in the store last wek that I really want, so I'll add that to my collection soon.

And apart from that, the usual Buffy and Angel stuff, DVD's, books, novels, figures. And now the comics. I getting quite a collection. I should probably worry...?

I collect random DVDs (or I'm starting to, they're slowly building up!), faulty USB internet cards that inevitebly bust on me, random papers all over my room...

But in all seriousness, here's my list...

Plushies (mine aren't displayed either, but I have them)

i tend to collect books of certain authors... for instance, i have every book so far by Bentley Little.

And i also "collect" disney movies. I'm trying to get all the major ones i loved as a kid on DVD.

The major thing I collect is PEZ dispensers. I have a pretty small collection now, but it's growing. I have the regular dispensers one giant Elmo dispenser, that dispenses actual PEZ packets, and I got the Disney Princess PEZ Collector's Edition box set thing that is SO COOL for Christmas! Haven't opened it yet though, it's too pretty. 😀

I also collect anything Winnie the Pooh related (and so yes, many Pooh dispensers!). I've always loved Pooh, ever since I was a tot. I've seen Pooh's Grand Adventure easily three or four hundred times from the time I was two, and it remains one of my favorite movies. It's just so adorable!

And then I collect all sorts of other random junk, but that's mostly just my inability to throw things away. I seriously have sentimental feelings toward my trash. It's bad, I have to work on that.

Here some pictures of my Dad's lighters collection. And I gotta say, as much as we all always complain about his collecting habit, it is kinda impressive. well, except my camera isn't, so the pictures aren't that good.

I´m a collector at heart. Sadly enough I can´t handle it. I want way to many things. So instead of having a big collection of a special theme I have a lot of small collections.

I have way to many hockeycards for example. Nowdays I´m better at concentrating on favourite players. But I have hundreds I´m thinking of throwing away. Don´t have the energy to sell them online.

And of course I´m trying to get my hands on trading cards of series and movies I like (Buffy, Angel, Charmed, Alias, Harry Potter, 24, Firefly etc) so I have a couple of them too.

I had a brief period there I started to collect autographs. But that´s on hold for the moment. It´s expensive and since I´m not an expert it´s hard to know if the autographs are the real deal then you buy them online. It can´t be that hard to forge a COA if you want to.

If I get into a special artist I want all of their/his/hers albums, and if possible videos. The same with dvd. A special actor and it´s the same. I don´t have the American Pie-trilogy (I know there´s more of them) because they´re great movies. And I do buy my favorite films, copies are never as good.

I also try to gather as many books (that seems worth having) in a special theme (author, sport, tv, movie, artist). So I only have a hundred of them left or so. Not as there´s any room for them. Is it necessary to have "Fantastic beast and where to find them" and "Quidditch through the ages" (not the most espensive ones but you know what I mean)? No, but it´s fun. I do pride myself a little having the complete collection of Aterix. Don´t know if you´ve ever heard of him but I read that series a lot then I was younger and they reminds me of my granddad as they´re his favourites. Asterix - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia


The only "real" collecting I´ve ever done was that in the first 15 years of my life I´d get (or bought as I got older) a pennant from every "new" town/city I visited. I really liked it but then I realized that I had no space for them, and puting them in a box didn´t make sence to me. So I stopped, but I kind of miss it even if I still don´t have a place for them.

I suppose that I collect books. I have hundreds of them in my room! When friends come over they say its like a library lol! what can I say? I love to read!

I um.. collect shoes... I actually do, as I have about 500 pairs and haven't worn half of them at all!

But actual collectible stuff- other than Buffy figurines and books, I collect Pirates of the Caribbean stuff- like anything to do with POTC which I want, I get... I have about 8 or 9 different sized figures of Jack Sparrow for starters....

I collect wrestling figurines as well... or at least I used to, so I only buy them now if they're old ones, or a favourite wrestler of mine!

Hmm...I don't really consciously collect anything but I have an unnatural amount of shoes if that counts? Haha.

What we do seem to have a huge collection of is books. I've always been a big reader since a very early age, and once I read a book and fall in love with it, I find it very hard to let go of or give away. So it stays with me. I have a few first editions of the books I really love- I have a first edition of the original tales of Winne the Pooh. I got that when I was...16. I loved the book as a child so my Mom bought me the first edition and I loved it. It's definitely a treasured item.

And then my husband bought me this wonderfully intricately designed hardback Pride and Prejudice last Christmas, which, while not a first edition, was printed in 1910 so that's a wonderful pride-of-place book too. Then I have about three editions of The Odyssey, including the edition that got me hooked on the tale when I was seven- this too-cute children's edition with these stunning illustrations.

And of course my art geekiness means I have about a dozen art history books, and an equal amount on photography. Then I have two multi-book volumes on Egypt and Egyptology, and a few books on Ancient Greek Mythology (As I've always loved both those subjects since I was a little girl and so people just kept buying me books on them, haha).

Add to the fact my husband is an avid reader also- and a total geek on both the Victorian and Elizabethan eras- so he has tons of his own books, as well as text collections on all things Victorian/Elizabethan.

Our spare room is taken up with three entirely filled book shelves. It is quite the library, haha, so yes, I suppose you could count that as a collection.


Just proof-reading what I wrote and between my interests and my husband's, our daughter is going to be such a geek. But the cool variety of course. But still...she's going to be a geek over something. I can just sense it. Haha.

OTHER than Buffy things? That's generally all I collect. I used to collect stuffed animals, but I stopped that as I got older. I now generally only collect Buffy & Angel stuff. Umm, I still have hundreds of stuffed animals and I get them every now and again. I only keep a few on my bed though, the rest are in a cupboard with all my old dolls, too ^.^

I collect keychains. Whenever I go somewhere (and sometimes when I don't actually go, but someone I know does, 😉 ) I buy a souvenir keychain. I have probably 100 or so now. One of these days I'm going to build a display cabinet for them and hang them all on little hooks.

I love to read so I have quite many books🙂
My biggest book collection is the one of Lucy Maud Montgomery books. She's been my favourite author since childhood and I buy every book written by her I can find.
Right now I have about 5 new books I haven't read yet( f.ex. Ian McEwan's "Atonement",Gregory Maguire's "Wicked") I will read them on summer holidays, cause in school year I only have time to read lectures.
Despite of books I collect postcards. I buy them everytime I travel somewhere and I have many that were sent to me by other people too. Also my mum gave me those she was collecting in the past, so I have quite much of them.
Besides I have souvenirs from every place I've been to. And I've got a lot of shells (there are ones from Baltic Sea, Medditerranean Sea, Adriatic Sea)
