Things you had high expectations of that disappointed

Hard to explain, what did you have high expectations of, that didn't live up to those expectations?

Be it a book, film, food item, a place, a person...(let's not get personal though, folks!)

I thought I would LOVE the Time Traveller's (Traveler's if you're American 🙄) Wife after reading the book, but I didn't even finish the film because I hated it so much.

Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging - I loved, loved, LOVED the Louise Rennison book series about Georgia Nicholson, but the film was just terrible. Hated it.

I was very excited to see Ian Brown live (lead singer of the Stone Roses) live, but he can't sing, and his fanbase are just horrible.

I didn't really have too high of expectations for it but....the Keira Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice. The acting was okay but the directing was terrible. None of the characters acted like they were in that time period. I felt like I was watching a parody or spoof of a Jane Austin movie.

Also, the Chronicles of Narnia movies. I hoped they would be better quality like the Harry Potter movies....but they just lacked heart.

Buffy season 7

I loved Season 6, I felt the show was coming off one of it's strongest seasons and I was excited for the final chapter in BtVS....instead I got some boring season about these annoying Potential Slayers, and all the characters I loved like Giles, Faith, Willow and Xander had no purpose and were basically background props

I agree and I wonder if part of it had to do with Joss becoming a new father and having three shows on three networks at the same time (I think he was working on Fray and X men comics too but I'm not sure). It really sucks because not all of his shows were able to fire off on all cylinders at the same time and for almost eight years now (with the exception of Dollhouse being on air for less than a year) we've had nothing as far a weekly tv Joss fix. I just can't believe how I took for granted seeing not 1 but 2 or 3 Joss shows on my screen weekly. Now he has all this time and energy to devote to one show but we don't have it 🙁

Hmm. I've been thinking about this for a while now.

The only thing I can come up with is that movie "The Seeker" that they made after a book in the "Dark is Rising" sequence.

The BOOK was great. Movie . . . well . . . ugh.

The movie contact with Jodie Foster. It was coming out on my birthday and in my head I hyped it up so much. I was so excited thinking it was going to be this ultimate sci-fi humans vs aliens film. I was so disappointed in it. I'm sure I would of at least thought it was at least ok if i hadn't thought it was going to be the best film of my life.

Also the movie, The Ugly Truth. The previews made it look so cute and charming. In actuality, it was none of those. Very disappointed.

I do miss having Joss shows on TV, but i'm so excited for "The Avengers" at the same time. I don't mind him focusing his attention on one project, because it's just like you said, when Joss has to many projects going at the same time his quality tends to decline (which is natural).

But also think about how this movie is going to affect Joss. This is easily the biggest and most hyped super-hero film of all time. If this movie becomes a box office success (which it will) he's going to finally be able to get funding for some of his other projects, like Ripper (OMG!) and other new TV shows. So if everything goes well, Joss will be back on our TV's in no time 😀

^ I second that! 🙂 I mean how many times did Zack storm out of class half way through because of a fight with Kelly? And my High School principle certainly wasn't as cool as Mr. Belding.

Twilight movies. I loved the books but movies are soo bad. Because of them I don't like books anymore. They are too shallow, even for me.

The Vampire Diaries books. I really like the show, but books are senseless and just stupid.

Gossip Girl show. I read all the (13) books about Serena, Blair, Dan etc. I liked more characters in books, stories were more interesting. TV show is more like soap opera.

The 2010 The Wolfman movie. I loved the idea and I'm a fan of werewolves, but this movie really disappointed me.
The first half or so was good, but the rest sucked, in my opinion. It was too much of a fantasy/action movie than a horror movie.
Pity. This movie could have been great.

Last season of Heroes. That was really disappointing. Also, I was really disappointed Peter and Claire are really related and they can't be together.

Actually, they do exist. I've met them. They're just not common enough for how many wonderful girls there are out there. The ratio just isn't even.

Veronica Mars. I had heard the show was amazing and it was just as good as Buffy, so I thought I would like it but I didn't because it was very cliche and sometimes predictable.

The end of season 8. Big disapointment.

Giles' heroic death and the last issue dealing with the aftermath was decent but the rest of the last two arcs did not entertain me the way I expected it too.

Spider-Man 3. After the awesome second movie I was really excited about this one, and it was just terrible..

Juno. I thought this was gonna be great but I couldn't even finish watching it!

Zombieland I didn't like any of the characters they just annoyed me....

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I.

Not only am I the biggest fan of the books ever =P I had also had a major Harry Potter obsession relapse. I hadn't expected much from any of the previous movies, but for this one I had just re-read all the books (including number 7 twice) and re-watched all the movies and Harry Potter-fied everything around me. And I had so much hope because I thought they'd make a special point of not screwing up the last book, and they'd split it in two so I thought they could probably fit more in. But no, massive stuff up, and Part 2 was as well.
