Things you would change in each season of Buffy and Angel

Season One: I didn't like that Jesse's death was forgotten in the next episode. It would have served an interesting drama for Xander and made his dislike of Angel more understandable.

Season Two: Angelus should have been more intimidating. I would have really loved to see him leave permanent damage on Xander or Willow or Oz. See him hurt the Scoobies in creepy ways that would have really made it hard for us the audience to accept Angel back in S3.

Season Three: Buffy and Angel should have known about Xander's lie and it should have been resolved in S3. I expect an interesting storyline about loyalty and trust between Buffy and Xander.

Season Four: There should have been a Xander centric episode.

Season Five: More interactions between Tara and the other Scoobies. She seemed to be joined at the hip with Willow.

Season Six: I'd have loved to see Willow helping out with money since she lives in Buffy's house. Maybe have Dawn work part-time. It just seemed too melodramatic having Buffy work and Willow and Dawn just mooching off - insulting to Willow and Dawn and out of character.

Season Seven: I would have loved to see scenes of Xander and Spike in the apartment. Also, Empty Places shouldn't have happened or at least been written a bit more realistically and less "Side with Buffy and hate on everybody else who isn't Spike."

BTVS:

S1: Well, I quite liked this season. I do wish it was full length and perhaps, maybe more of a backstory on The Master and I do wish that we got to see at least a full length episode of the Master risen.

S2: Wow... this is an eclectric, wonderful season with alot of vast qualities. Very good season. I'd change the whole Jenny Calendar being involved in the curse. I thought that was really rushed.

S3: The scooby gang would be much nicer to Wesley. Really, the way they talked to him was awful. Didn't give him a chance. I thought the scoobies were really bratty in season 3.

S4: Agree, a Xander- centric episode would have been nice. the whole attitude that 'he doesn't go to uni, what a loser' really annoyed me at times.

S5: Tara would be in the opening credits. And Riley deserved a better sendoff

S6: Urgh where do I start. First off, actually resolve issues rightly. If someone is addicted to something, you don't quit cold turkey. Depression isn't solved by some sudden epiphany. Don't kill off Tara as a plot device for a very cheesy villian. See, I don't get why people hate on The Master and Adam and really praise Dark Willow arc.

S7: Everything. And I mean, everything. Everything, everything. What a trash of a season.

I'll do ATS later.

riley did deserve better and YES just rewrite S7
S1 - make The Master less cheesy and muhahaha and more of a villain a la The Mayor, Glory, Angelus. If this were to happen also more of an arc to the season, but I get that often during 1st seasons there are a lot of stand alone episode to boost the initial fanbase.

S2 - fewer random standalone episodes like "Bad Eggs" and "Reptile Boy". Or just make these episodes stronger. But this is really minor, a great season!

S3 - Angel should have come back mid S3, not early on. I watched it all on VHS the first time round, so Angel's "death" didn't really last very long, he just came back too soon. But I understand that when airing the time frame would have been longer. Still, very minor - very strong season

S4 - Xanya should be less pointless and have more meat to it, rather than just being comic relief. Professor Walsh should have been the Big Bad, not Adam. He sucked.

S5 - Dawn should be less whiny. Xander should do more schtuff. Very much nitpicky stuff, really.

S6 - "Bargaining" should be a much stronger episode, with vampires being the main antagonists, not some stupid biker demons. Besides that, it was perfect 🙂

S7 - Have 3 potentials maximum at first, then have one die - don't introduce anymore, nobody cares about the potentials. Re-do the whole mid-season (7.08-7.15), the whole thing is a mess and I can't bring myself to watch all of it. Forget about the Toruk-Han business during these episodes, have it have less of a military feel and focus on rebuilding the Scoobies' relationship after S6. Caleb should be the Big Bad rather than The First. "Chosen" should have been more thought-out and less rushed. Not a huge S7 fan really.

Angel:

S1 - more of an arc with Wolfram and Hart, introduce Lilah sooner. Fewer average standalone episodes. Get rid of "She" completely.

S2 - make Gunn's transition into the group a little more..believable, but this is very minor - great season!

S3 - Literally nothing - love this season!

S4 - Have it all make more sense, be less rushed. In retrospect, The Beast summoning a rain of fire and blotting out the sun seemed a tad pointless.

I'm quoting you as I agree with pretty much everything you said here. 🙂

For Season 1, I also would have loved to see Jesse a bit more and I agree about the backstory on the master.

I completely agree with you itssmiletime concerning Seasons 2 and 3.

Season 4 was also a bit disappointing at times, didn't like the blond baddie in the first episode, I thought the actress was terrible and I didn't like how it ended with Adam. Anyway the storyline about Adam was badly written IMO.

Season 5: God knows I am not a great fan of Riley, still he didn't deserve to leave like that, without even saying goodbye to the scoobies and in very few scenes...I didn't like the whole story about Dawn. after a rewatch, still not a favourite season of mine!!🙁 I also wish Tara's character was more developed as a true member of the scooby gang and not only as Willow's witchcraft playmate and girlfriend.

I disagree about Season 6😛: As I'm re-watching this series, except for the Dawn scenes, I still think it's a great season! 🙂After season 5, I find the scoobies as a tight group who really help one another or at least tru to repair their respective mistakes (with Buffy lending a helping hand to Willow even though she's not beyond reproach herself). there are also great scenes with Buffy/ Willow/ Xander and I love the surprising bond between Buffy and Tara! Well, I love Tara's developement in that season!!! this season is very much centered on who's got the power over the other in a couple (Buffy/ Spike ; Willow / Tara, Xander/ Anya) , who's is weak, powerless and at what moment it's the other way around, that the other takes control back and stands firm! so, no, for me, that season was all good!

As for season 7, well, like you said itssmiletime, everything or almost should be different! 🙄

BS1: It should have been a little longer (standard 22 episodes). More could have been done in the season that way.
BS2: Probably the only season that is fine the way it is.
BS3: Cordelia leaves halfway through the season after breaking up with Xander, and Angel didn't come back to life here (See Angel below for why) and, most importantly, didn't start up a relationship with Buffy again.
BS4: No "Beer Bad", and The Initiative and Riley was toned down a little.
BS5: NO DAWN OR DAWN DIES INSTEAD OF BUFFY. You know what, almost everything should be changed about this season except the Spike and Xander stuff.
BS6: NO DAWN (See above), and Buffy is depressed over her sister's death instead of her own (which is more relatable following with the whole 'life is the big bad' theme).
BS7: NO DAWN, tone down on the Potential Slayers, and give everybody else besides Buffy and Spike some accountable screen time.
AS1: (See BS3) Angel comes back to life here instead of Buffy Season 3, Cordelia joins halfway through after leaving Sunnydale and breaking up with Xander, and Doyle's job is to assist Angel back to health before his sacrifice, leaving him and Cordelia (And Wesley later) to fight W&H.
AS2: Basically the same. Wouldn't change it.
AS3: The same except no Angel/Cordelia romance, and Cordelia either stays a higher being and/or dies at the end of the season.
AS4: As mentioned above, Cordelia stays a higher being and/or has died. We can still have Jasmine and The Beast, but under different circumstances.
AS5: Same except for some stand alone episodes ("You're Welcome" still happens), and less of Harmony.

s1-love it, would have been better if it was 22 ep
s2-I'd keep it the way it is, maybe get Oz killed instead of Jenny (even though I love both, I would have liked Jenny as part of the Scoobies on the long run.
s3-Fuffy.
s4-Agree, Maggie Walsh should have been the main villain, I really liked her. Umm no Riley?
s5-love it, no complaints
s6-favorite season, the beginning was maybe a tad weak, Bargainning could have been better, I wasn't a fan of those demons. I'm just picky since it's my favorite season.
s7-make the First much more of a big bad, bring back every single death on BtVS as a character of the first, I want to see mental torture!! Bye bye potentiels, more group interactions, keep the hellmouth story and Caleb. Oh, and Fuffy.

Hm..

I usually say that I wouldn't change anything about either show, but the one thing I would have loved to see is Angel being able to raise Connor, because it would have been the cutest thing in the entire world. 😀

Only thing I'd change is the addition of Angel S6! I felt the end of S5 was too rushed, and understandably so, but I'm intrigued by where they would have taken the Wesley/Fred/Illyria storyline.
