Not every church has traditional hymns. And not every church is a snoozefest. In Colombia, there’s a church that rocks out so hard you’d be forgiven for mistaking it for a death metal show.
The Pantokrator Church in Bogota has a 40-member congregation that scream, head bang and jump around to worship songs, while dressed in gothic garb, with tattoos plastered on their skin. Not your ‘typical’ churchgoer. Then again, who are we to judge?
The founder of Pantokrator is 28-year-old Cristian Gonzalez, who was a heavy metal drummer before he started the church.
‘If Jesus were alive today, he would be neither a guerilla nor a metalhead’, Gonzalez said. ‘He would accept everyone without distinction and without reproach to anyone’.
