Frankly, when I heard about this season all those many months ago I thought this season would be one of the worst. I mean the whole "monster of the week" scenario, no Cordy, Eve replacing Lilah, and I thought Harmony would be avery bad idea, also I was'nt a big fan of Angel taking over Wolfram and Heart. But man, this looks to be the best season yet none of the episodes have dissapointed yet. I'm so surprised how great and well written this season is.

Firstly, I think we all needed a break from Cordy after her character was destroyed last season. Hopefully she'll be back one day though. And as much as I liked Lilah, I'm really enjoying Eve, probably because she's really hot. And this season made a character that I HATEDbefore pretty much adorable. Of course I'm speaking about Harmony, she has become very cute over the last couple of episodes she's been in. And the group being in charge of the law firm has ended up being a fun scenario that is changing and making the caracters grow. And the stand alone eps are making things a whole more accessable for new comers to the show and are high quality at that. But I do hope that the big archs return next season.

My only complaint is the thing I was really looking forward to before the season started, and that is Spike. Hate to say it, but he just does'nt really belong on the show and his presence feels very forced on the viewer. I know he was brought on for ratings, but it's just not working for me.

But besides that I'm very impressed by this season so far.
 
totally agree with you hostile...this season looked like it was gonna suck with the absence of a alpha chick...but its turning out to be the best season yet....gott thank a huge budget and some well written scripts...

i think that spike being on the show is forced...but i like it...spike gives the cast a punk character....its all g...
 
This season is definitely hilarious, but I like S3 and S2 better. It delves into the dark metaphors and it's what made me watch the show. I think that I love watching S5 now 'cause it's so funny, but I think I will get tired of "monster of week" eps. I wish for longer story arcs (but not the long one in S4. That's didn't work out well.).
 
I actually think it was a nice change of pace. Season 3 and 4 were too hard to follow along if you had missed a couple episodes. And it's definitely easier for new viewers to follow along. The addition of Harmony was nice. I didn't like her in the past, but she adds a lot of lightness to the show. And she is looking better and better all the time. I sure hope they make Spike more useful during the season, because it is definitely bothersome seeing him thrown into this show, with not a lot to add to the team.
 
The season is moving along nicely. The big gripe I have is Wolfram and Hart. They were very cool villains, all evil and mysterious. Now, they feel kinda lame. Are they even evil anymore? What would help is a cool lawer, like Lilah. Eve just isn't cool enough. Rant over.
 
I had my doubts (except for removing Cordy, great id). But so far it's great ... I just wonder how they're going to do the big bad arc.
 
I really like s5,but I fell Spike isn't needed there..Being in charge of Wolfram&Hart gives many new possibilities though...
 
I love this season so far. I HAVE to watch every single episode.

On the note of Spike, I would have to disagree. I think it's very cool to see Spike on the show. (Probably just because I am totally obsessed with David and James) anywho, I think this season is going to be great. Although I would like to see Spike be able to do more. Maybe even use his ghost like "presence" to scare people. That would be so funny.
 
i like it also i thought it was gonna be horrible afteri saw the first ep of the season
 
Same here. But after the second and third episode I realized I couldn't miss any of them! I hope they keep the season up. I hate it when they start a season out good then mess it up later on.
 
i think this season is great too, i thought it would be awful without Cordy but after last season(i really didn't like it) i think this one i really good
 
i wish cordy was back joss keeps saying that they wrapped up her character, but what is he talkin about? cordy would love having the fancy cars and stuff so i think cordy should come back
