This mask I wear

I'm pretty much WYSIWYG, always have been, don't have the energy for split personality, plus, got screwed by a RL friend playing with me and identity deception online, so I am quite true to myself as I know the damaging effects. However, IRL I am more manic - I'm quite animated and a little bit of a live wire once you get to know me and get past the fact I can be a bit... odd (hey! I'm English - it's eccentricity!) although I admit naturally my default state is hissy bitca. You are lucky you don't get the full effect - or I am..... nobody would speak to me!

Here I am quite controlled. I, like 4.0.cious Miss, am very sexual in nature, but for one reason or another, that only comes out with certain people IRL (usually my gay friends and those with a Carry On sense of humour - if there's a double entendre to be had, I'll have it). I also stress about things I cannot change, but then try and change them anyway. I'm a bit hard headed, stubborn and determined too. But then I am also a bit of an earth mother nurturer type, so I have my kinder moments. They are fleeting and momentary lapses of judgment, for the most part 😉

To sum up.... the only thing you CAN'T see about me online is that I am like a little short, dark, intense espresso - chock full of zip. The rest of it is pretty much there, if a little watered down for public consumption.

In RL I have many more insecurities, completely anxious, worrying, melancholy and boring. Just a mess of neuroses and blandness.

I sure hope I'm not different online than offline... I had a VERY bad experience with a compulsively lying-over-the-net person once, and I'd hate to fall into the same mold.

On teh other hand, two differences are obvious to myself - even if I don't post as much as many others here, I'm still a lot more talkative on the boards than IRL; I'm definitely more of a writer than a talker, I remember a party back in the 90s when a girl told me at the end of the evening that the only thing she'd hear me say all evening was one sentence: "It figures." (and I didn't even keep saying that line, just said it once. :lmao: )

And, of course, all that hugging and kissing online, well, I don't IRL. I'm very reclusive, and very physically reserved. Last time I hugged a woman in real life was June 2003. ^^

Never made a secret out of it that the net is where my social life happens, while RL is for eating and sleeping. 😉

I think am more silly and clumsy in real life, online I guess I look like a child who has eaten too many Jaffa cakes and gets distracted by shiny things. I am a magpie in real life though but a very clumsy one . But in real life I am a very old lady stuck in a young persons body, a Old soul .

I've been thinking about this and i've realized irl I'm a lot more closed off to people even my real friends, i've never hugged my friends out of choice or becuase i want to.

It's always a forced stiff hug becuase they've made me hug them and i don't do consoling people when there upset either, the most i can manage is a pat on the arm. I hate it when people cry in front of me becuase i don't know what to do!. And i don't cry in front of my friends either i don't like to show that i'm weak and stuff, but sometimes i do end up crying in front of them on rare occasions and i make them leave me alone.

Although i think i don't hug people becuase i don't like people invading me personal space or touching me. I really can't stand it. Compared to on the boards or in the irc chat i feel i'm more able to say, yeah i'm having a rubbish day and express how i feel. Which is probably i good thing becuase other wise i'd be a massive block of stone! my friends even call me "katy cold heart" becuase i don't show anything to them.

I also hate when people get into my personnal bubble.
I'm pretty much the same. The only difference is that i'm always sarcastic in person but not so much hear cause I,m afraid that some people might take it seriously when i'm really just joking

yea same
I'm just me - regardless of WHERE I'm me, or whoever I'm talking (or typing) to, etc. With me, it's pretty simple: what you see (read) is what you get. I see no purpose in trying to be anything/anyone else. I like me just fine the way I am. 😀

I think I'm more or less the same. Although irl I'm a terrible speaker. I trip over my words a lot, and end up giving up on what I was saying. I'm quite shy too, but better than I used to be. And being on a large forum as opposed to a one-on-one msn conversation is very different, although that can depend on the person I'm talking to. The Kinslayer knew me more as the person I am irl before we met. Actually, our conversations aren't a good example of online persona's cos there was none. We were completely being ourselves.

I might not be showing the whole me to the board, but I’m not acting in a way that isn’t me either.

Oh and a lot of people here know I'm Christine, I don't mind that.

*Knows you're Christine but likes Bluebie*
Im not male (like my avatar) but i do sing, dance... hand out granny candy... dance in the kitchen.. run from spiders and speak strangely.. when im not singing badly and burning myself when i cook. I do quote randomly and not randomly... some of my quotage might fit the situation, i put on different accents "you love it you slaags!"

But then Im just me and I dont know how everyone on BB thinks shempy is... and yes I have people in life that call me shempy too... which is odd.

Tho i suppose some people may feel more free online... or might hide who they are.. but i am what i am and something or other sing the rest of the song yourself (sw)
