Boredom was never really an issue for me (really, I'm more like 'Why can't the day have more hours?'). What I do when bored depends on the state I'm in. If I'm feeling drained from any kind of hard mental work (exams and stuff...I told you 'bout it last night) and need something really mindless to do I play gameboy for some time. Also a good way to spend time is going jogging, but I wouldn't do that too often, especially when you're not trained. When you're less drained a good way too overcome time is to put some sort of challenge on you. I used to do a lot of sudoku and crossword puzzles, brain teasers, it can be fun under time pressure. If u feellike you're not doing anything at all, how about a class at the adult education centre or something? Learn something new, that never hurts.
Other than that, what's good in every state of mind is meeting friends. Depending on your likes and dislikes you'll always find something fun to do with friends.
Finally, reading. If you're reading the right book time seems to pass by like crazy. Of course, like I said, it has to be the right book, nothing boring.
I would've suggested watcing DVDs, but imo, that can be pretty boring as well. I don't know why, but I just can't sit through most movies.
