I was watching "Life Serial" and I had a thought. The nerds are in the van watching all of their tests. They say that the first test is working and is way cool. This was the test that had time accelerated for Buffy. If they said it worked, what where they seeing? If it was only Buffy that was zooming through time, what did the nerds see? Was she disappearing and reappearing? ooooo makes you wonder.

So weird..I watched that very episode just last night and was wondering how others might be perceiving Buffy's time disorientation-nerds included.

I always wondered that. I thought maybe people just had Sunnydale syndrome to the max (even Tara and Willow) and didn't notice. Like a... don't-look-here spell? But the nerds knew to look, so they saw her like freezing in place or something.

I never thought about that before... Hmmm... I would think they'd probably see Buffy dissappearing and reappearing in the courtyard, at different spots in time.
Very cool question!

If everyone else moved very fast by Buffy's perception, then it should looked like Buffy moved extremely slow for all around her, including the trio.
Don't think she would disappear or anything, just being very slow.

That's what I always thought anyway. 🙂

Aaaaanyway, it took me ages to work out what this thread was talking about. You mean like at the college where everyone starts zooming around fast and Tara talks about watching sponge bob square pants and the next thing we know she's suddenly over at the water fountain?

I just assumed Buffy seemed REALLY slow to everyone else. Remember outside one of the zooming people bump into her and knock her off her feet, must be because she's in the way and moving VERY slowly while everyone around her is walking normally (or to her, they are all zooming around super-speed).

I actually forgot about this scene but I like it because I love scenes with Tara and Buffy away from everyone else. I like the friendship they slowly built in season 6 (especially after Buffy's comments in season 5 that she doesn't "get" Tara). But I feel after all that build up, Buffy's reaction to Tara's death could have been a bit more, like, a reaction!

(And the going off-topic award goes to...)

at the top right corner of posts there are 2 icons I believe. Click on the one on the left and it lets you agree or disagree with peoples comments. Im assuming thats what you meant by "cool I agree" thing 😀

There are certain diseases such as encephalitis that mimic this episode. There was a movie made of one patient who took 15 hours to raise his hand to touch his nose. After recovering, he said he had to scratch his nose and the 15 hours seemed like a couple of seconds to him (and that is how he remembered it), although he thought the sun was moving very fast across the sky.

My take on this was that when the geek trio said "it's working" they were buzzing out about their spell working. What were they actually testing? I think just Buffy's ability to cope with the confusion and figure out what was causing it - which she did cause she's awesome!
