Thoughts On Board Layout

Hey guys,

We are specifically wondering how you would like the Buffy and Angel episode/season forums and the Tru Calling forums to be shown.
 
Maybe changing "Future of Angel" to "Future of Angel/Buffy" as Buffy may have a future. Otherwise no quarrels.

Oh actually on the main page, the top box with "The TC/BB merger" etc and avatar etc stretches as long as the sentence, dunno if its just an Opera thing but makes the page reeeeeeeealy wide.
 
It's an Opera Thing I think. The box is the same width as the banner and doesn't get any smaller than that.

Again we're looking for thoughts on the actual forums rather than aesthetics.

Future of Angel is only Angel because it has taken the place of the Spoilers forum in that category, and becase of the tv movies that are possibly going to be made. We'll take into consideration having a combined forum somewhere though. Thanks 🙂
 
You could merge the Future of Angel forum with the Whedonverse, then move the Whedonverse to the front page.

This would solve both the Buffy/Angel thing, and the "why isn't there a Firefly forum" question that's in Angel investigations right now.

Just a suggestion. :dork:
 
The answer to that is simple: I don't watch Firefly 😛

Something else we want to know about, is whether we want to keep all the season forums for Buffy and Angel like we have it now, and whether we want to keep them visible on the main page like it is.

I'm not sure about merging FoA with Whedonverse, since this is an Angel board and we want that to stay the focus.

We could just have Seasons of Buffy and Seasons of Angel on the main board and then have the individual seasons as sub forums, maybe...
 
I think the board layout looks great, I think you should keep the individual forums for each season on the main page, I like that. I like where the Tru Calling forum is too, except that its kind of hidden, is there anywhere it could be where it would be easier to see?
 
hmm maybe you could make a picture for it, like you have for the Buffy/Angel season forums..I'm not sure where you would put it though..

I think that would be a good thing to do, so it wouldnt take up that much space on the main board and we still have the basic forums. Since discussing all Buffy seasons in one forum would be confusing IMO.
 
I like the layout as it is as it is different from most boards. I can appreciate that the images for the individual make the main page somewhat long and can sometimes make loading time slower, especially if you use dial-up. 🙂

You could possibly create smaller icons or buttons for each season so they would

a)Take up less room on the main page and
b)Load relatively quickly

Or you could have 3 images which are slightly smaller than the season images at present, on the front for Angel Seasons, Buffy Seasons and Tru Calling, so all 3 shows are prominent on the main page but you still are taking up less space and creating a shorter loading time. (I know no-one as yet has mentioned loading time but it never hurts to consider all the benefits). In the Angel & Buffy seasons you could then still keep all the seasons individual.🙂

Personally I agree with Cordelia. I really like the layout for this site. I go on other forums and they are set up largely as a listing of threads. It can be very frustrating trying to find a specific topic/thread. I also agree that a few less icons and smaller ones, like Cordelia stated, would be helpful. I have cable and it can still take a few moments to load the welcome page.

So that was my long winded statment that I agree with Cordelia (I could have just added a comment to the post, but it didn't enter my brain :lol2: ).
 
I also think Cordelia's suggestions are worth considering.

I wonder if it's ever happened that someone with a slow connection has arrived on the front page, and been turned off from registering because the page is slow.

Giving Tru Calling equal status with Buffy and Angel though... isn't that a little chaotic. Doesn't it kind of throw off the theme.

What if you gave Buffy and Angel a full width banner each, then added a third with with three categories on it. Say; Tru Calling, Caritas, and :apple: Whedonverse.

I like the idea for the banners, Buffy & Angel are the theme of the site.
I wouldn't put off topic stuff in such a prominent palcing (meaning Caritas) but we'll talk abou it.

Just to clarify what Cordelia said - the pictures actually make the page shorter than if the forums were listed top to bottom (that's why we did it 😉)

Until about two weeks ago, I was on a dialup connection, and the pictures did not take extremely long for me to load or anything.

Just some additional info 😉
 
The only thing I'm not liking how when you click on the Hellmouth area...ALL the subforums for the Crew, Cast and Characters show up...so you either have to scroll through it all...or click on Buffy/Angel discussion Forum, so you don't have to scroll past all those to get to the others in The Hellmouth. It just...seems a little chaotic in there....
 
Why don't you go directly to the forum you want from the main page or the forum jump? There's nothing I can do about that since they are in that category.
 
Yea....it's nothing big...I used to just always click on one of them...and then on The Hellmouth to go to the others there...just gotta break that habit...lol...and I always forget about the forum jump...need to remember bout that...makes things so much simpler...hmm...thanks anyway!!!😀
 
In the character forums. Apparently Eve's forum has never had a post, guessing you deleted the old stuff. Shouldn't you just get rid of the forum then, I know it was created before we met Eve but she hardly has the biggest fan following.

Also some of the character infos could do with an update. For Darlas it says she is ready to raise hell in L.A. I mean that was like 4 years ago or something.

Just suggestions mind.
 
Its not the case of deleting the posts, if no one posts in them after so long they don't show up, when you go into a forum you can choose whether to show threads from the last month or beginning etc.
 
Thought it may be yet was too lazy to check. Anyway it shows nobodys been there for a while. My descriptions thing still holds truth though 😛
