Thoughts On Jack - Contains Finale Spoilers

I thought I would start a new thread on Jack as during the merger some of the threads came over as blank and were lost.

So what does everyone think of Jack?

My first thought was that he was an undercover reporter working with Michelle trying to get some insight into Tru. Then I thought he was a victim of someone she saved, then someone her father sent to keep an eye on her. When I found out that he too had the gift I started to think that maybe he was just a bad guy who could not cope with his gift so made sure the people died.

Of course at the finale we had the shock that yes he was sent by her father, but for the reason of stopping her, just like he did to her mother. Never actually thought that her father would have the gift too.

Ok well I have to give my hubby kudos on this one. After Jack's second episode...he pegged him as sort of the grim reaper character. Like Tru's opposite, she saves them, he makes sure they die. (Darn smarty pants!) 😀

My theory on the finale is that Jack is Tru's brother (or half-brother). It's been so long since I saw the finale, but I remember thinking that at the end of the show. I have to say the dad was quite the shocker to me though...that he was in cahoots with Jack. I was thinking maybe Jack's mother had it too...and the father had been married to her (perhaps) and killed her also...

Did they say that his dad have the gift too? My memory on it is a little fuzzy. Now that I think of it, they might have.

I can't wait for the new season to start, it's the only show I'm really excited about with Buffy and Angel being gone now. Sigh.

Well done to your hubby for that, my mum does things like that and it annoys the heck out of me when you are still trying to figure things out and they are going 'I'm telling you...'

I can't recally if Jack said his father had it, I remember (I think) him saying to Davis that he had the gift when he came back from the dead. I never thought about the angle of Jack being Tru's half brother, mostly because of the way Tru's dad spoke to him and his attitude towards him.

I had thought, that maybe Tru's mother had saved Jack from dying and he was angry at that because of how his life was after, but I forgot about the fact that she died when Tru was little and I think Jack mentioned that it was a few years ago he had died, so that was that one out of the window.

I know what you mean about looking forward to a new show, without Buffy and Angel the only ones i'm looking forward to is Smallville and Tru.

I have also wondered if Jack was Tru's dads son, and if he's not I want to know how Jack knows him. SO many unanswered questions where Jack is concerned.

Jack does say so.

At the end of the finale, Tru's dad asks what his daughter knows, and Jack says something like "let's start with what she doesn't know. She doesn't know that you were once like me." Then the dad says that if Tru is anything like her mother, Jack will have his hands full, and Jack replies that he loves a challenge.

I have the episode on tape, I'll try to get the exact quote for yu guys.

But how does that say if Jack is her father's son or how Jack knows her dad? I think thats the point AngelicSlayer was asking. I know the conversation you mean, I have it too 🙂

Okay, I found it.

Jack approaches Richard's car

Richard: Get in [he does] So, tell me: what does my daughter know?

Jack: Nice to see you too, Richard. Why don't I start with what she doesn't know: that you once did what I do.

Richard: She's tough, you'll have your work cut out for you. Just like I had with her mother.

Jack: You qwon that one, didn't you? Besides, I love a challenge.

Richard: Well, Jack. I believe you've got one.

They didn't say anything about Jack being related to Tru or her father, I think that was just supposition, since Tru got it--probably from her mother.

First I liked him...Then when I found out what he did I hated him...then I came to this not so sure...cause I don't know if I should classify him as evil or not....

There's just so many unanswered questions concerning Jack...so I'm waiting to see what next season brings us....

Hmmm...When I first heard this little quote here it made me think Tru's father had something to do with her mother's death...but for some reason I think I'm missing some detail...something I forgot or missed that would explain that better...I did miss the first half-hour of that one episode that really went into he mom's death...stupid little kids needed help with riding...I never had help when I first started riding...grrr...ok...done ranting...I just wish I had been able to see the whole ep...
