Thoughts on the character; Melaka Fray

Joss created Fray before Season 7 was aired. Supposedly, the Twilight showdown in Season 8 was supposed to be the last Armageddon referred to in the Fray series, but Buffy changed the outcome, which would in theory eliminate or greatly change Fray's reality, though we haven't seen any verification of that as of yet.
I like Fray. It reminds me of a combination of Buffy and Russ Manning's "Magnus, Robot Fighter series, a personal favorite "little" series of mine from back when I was a kid. Substitute a Slayer for a robot fighter, and lurks for evil robots, and the two are quite similar, especially when you consider the fact that Fray operates in what would be the lower, more grubby levels of Magnus' North Am City, with the elite of society living in both city's upper levels. Thinking about that now, I wonder if Joss got part of his inspiration for Fray from reading he old Magnus comics.

There's also ideas about upper and lower strata of society divided up that way physically in Fritz Lang's film "Metropolis", which could also be an influence.

Love Fray- the character and the comics. I was so excited to see her & her world in season 8. I think we're starting an ATF re-read soon and I'd love to do a Fray + Time of Your Life re-read after that if anyone's interested.
I have always contended that a Fray movie or TV series would be a much better move than a Buffy movie. Combining sci-fi with vampires & post-apocalyptic stuff- I can see that going far!
