Thoughts on the Girl in Question

I personally can not stand this episode, and I thought it was just a cheap way to give a bit of closure to those who are wondering about Buffy and her thoughts about Angel vs. Spike. I think that if Sarah Michelle Gellar was available like she was originally planned to be, she wouldn't have been with the Immortal, and it would have been a much better episode.

So my question is, does anyone here like "The Girl In Question" and if so, why do you like it?

I love the episode. For making me smile. I really don't care about the story itself or getting closure. It's a very silly episode. I get if it's not to everyone's liking but it seems it suits me just fine. Angel and Spike bickering? How can you not love that when it's done like this.

If Sarah nad actually been available to guest star in this episode, it might have had an actual purpose for existing. If it had been Buffy telling Angel and Spike that she had moved on, but, basically, she might come looking for one or the other (without, of course, giving any clue as to which one she really favored) someday, when she was good and darn ready, it would have been good. But once it became obvious that Sarah WASN'T going to be available, they should have devoted the extra time to building up to the finale. That, or move the following episodes back a week, leaving the resultant free space to a "Not Fade Away Pt 2," which would have been much better than seeing someone in a blond wig and discovering that Angel had never known what color Buffy's eyes actually were. The episode had a few funny moments, but, for the most part, it was just plain wasted time.

I do not like this episode for several reasons, but also and above all, for the image excessively stereotypical when they showed the Italy and the italians in a certain way. Come on, we are not only this. The italians are not only mafia, pizza and mandolin 😛
This is the homeland of Michelangelo, Raffaello, Rossini, Vivaldi, Verdi, Dante Alighieri ..and the italians do not spit on the ground, as did Ilona Costa Bianchi :hihi:

I agree with [MENTION=10426]janas[/MENTION], we were a bit stereotipically represented. But I think that the episode was really funny, so ok 😀

Contrary to most of the fandom, I liked it. It was hilarious. I don't care that it was out of character or didn't make sense; it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously. It was a breather from all the drama, and I was rolling in the aisles.

This. Every word of this. The Spike/BHD bickering was one of the few reasons for me to keep watching S5 at all (I generally found the season a tremendous let-down after S4 *hides from being pelted by rocks and garbage* 😛), and TGIQ was chock full of it, so what's not to love there?

I loved how Italians were presented perfectly and Looooooved the fact its the funniest episode in the verse, basically, its one of my favorite episodes ever. Spike and Angel in top form. First minute to last=amazingness.

I loved the bickering and the Italian Wolfram and Hart and the leather jacket. I didn't care much for the token funny filler episodes in Angel, but I think this is an exception to the rule.I'm not sure if it qualifies as filler though as I can't remember what was going on plotwise.

No. I know that it was a funny episode and intended to be over the top and everything, but you have to recognize that it wasn't a realistic representation of italian people. The exagerations were there for comic effect, certanly not for realism.

Edit: Of course the italians wasn't presented perfectly. If one mean at is accurate. Saying that is just an easy way to wind up the italians. Perfectly for us none italians so we can have a laugh about it? That's just down to personal opinion.

I find it really funny, but it's one of those episodes (and there aren't many of them) where I almost consider it a bit non-canonical. The humor is brilliant (don't you have, like, an Italian Wesley?) and the Angel/Spike chemistry was as good as it's ever been, but Buffy is totally out of character (I liked that they ret-conned that part out in the comics, because in all honesty, she acts nothing like Buffy in that episode). Seeing Angelus as something more than just a psychopath was neat as well for a bit of a change. In fact I liked all the flashbacks.

Is it a really "good" episode? Probably not, but I still find it to be pretty fun. I think that there were several attempts to get the real Buffy on the show, but for one reason or another it never panned out (which is probably my single biggest problem with S5). I hope some day, if they ever do more original Buffy programming (in a movie or whatever) they fix that.

This ep was wasted. The issue of Angel and Buffy was resolved in her finale when she gave that awful cookie dough speech. The only saving grace was seeing both vamps get what their stupidity deserved, standing there all wrecked like in the coyote cartoons, looking gormless. They should of done something else more watchable. I was fed up of the whole Angel getting gormless over blondes, is that a condition he,suffers from? Not the first time he does it. Woulda thought he'd learn't after the Darla fiasco.

I loved this episode.this episode one of funniest episodes in both shows. I didn't care about the buffy-the immortal story at all.I loved Angel and Spike together,they were so funny and they have amazing chemistry together.how can you not love this two together ?

I love this episode for other reason but that I love anything centered around Angel and Spike, and I think they're at their best and most comical in this episode. I love all the BtVS references, and I love that Andrew's there but it would've been nice to actually see Buffy (the real Buffy) at some point, I would've even been happy to see Dawn!

I thought it was a funny episode lol, sure, it didn't really add anything to the plot, but it was fun and I liked it.

I would've loved if Buffy actually made a cameo though.

Something that I've never been able to understand about this episode, though, is
what was the purpose in having Angel not know what color Buffy's eyes were? It's not as though he hadn't spent 3 years in Sunnydale staring lovingly into those eyes, surely at some point he MUST have taken notice of what color they were. Even a near miss, like brown or green would be understandable, (I know from personal experience, since my own hazel eyes have been described as bohh on occasion) but hazel could NEVER be mistaken as blue.

Well, I loved the interaction between Spike and Angel...that's amazing and never gets old...but I hated how we were represented, it was a pretty big exaggeration and Ilona was really vulgar. I think, if it was meant to be funny, then they had to take it from another view. I'm not the type to be offended easily but some things were over the top.
