My thread count keeps jumping all over the place, yesterday it was something around 2066, but now it's down to 2006. I'm not overly bothered about my post count, so it's not a big deal at all. Just curious more then anything!

Ah okay, like from the Drogyn Tea Bar and stuff?

---------- Post added at 01:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:37 PM ----------

So do none of the posts made in Drogyn count towards post count?

Seems strange that they would ever be counted to begin with if they're going to be removed

True, but most every thread will eventually be gone from here at one point or another, in which case none of them should be counted in the first place. But they are.

Like 'slaying practice'. Either they count or they dont, otherwise everyones count is all over the place and their wondering if their posts are being deleted altogether somewhere.

I LOVE your David siggy! That is awesome! :)
I don't want to sound like a nag but I feel the same way as the two previous posters. What's the point in first counting posts and then remove them? Because this doesn't happened with post that goes to the cemetary does it? Maybe I'm in a clear minority about this but if they're gonna be removed I'd rather see that posts in the dorm isn't counted at all. But maybe I'm just missing something. That can definitely not be ruled out. 😉

Take it from me, post counts are a sore subject with every admin :p They don't mean anything...until they do...in which case they dont. Or not.
Fine whatever. The idea was that current posts would be counted, and the hundreds of old chatty threads wouldn't, but I'm happy to turn off post count in there altogether. I'm not sure why it's a big deal though, I couldn't tell you what my own post count is.

While I wouldn't have suggested that myself, turning it off in the dorms completely actually seems like a good idea now that I think of it.

a) It removes the post count unfairness from game threads in the dorms in comparison to Slaying Practice, and
b) it makes all counted posts accessible to be read by all board members.

I guess some people's post counts would drop very sharply then, though. 😉

makes sense
Let me get this right.
Our post count yo yo's?
Our post's are deleted?
Means nothing to me,doesn't it put a strain on the sites memory anyway.I mean how many post's can BB hold anyway? Can anyone tell me how a forum is run please,in idiot terms('cause i'm an idiot,as you know),is there one computer, and poor little summers is strapped into her chair, eyes held open with a box of swan vesta's,slaving away on a hot keyboard night after night,or is it a co-ordinated effort. It fascinates me thats all really, and i fully realise it must be difficult however its run.
Ps,sorry Buffy about the description of your work,i was only funnin'🙂

Technically there shouldn't be any game threads in the Dorms anyway though right? I know in VH we've been warned about it, elsewhere I'm not sure though.

On the subject of post count, it's not a big deal for me, I'm a pretty infrequent poster, I spend much more time in the IRC.

Yep... but without giving out too much internal dorm info, we got two game threads allowed by the mods in there because those are long-lived standing traditions of the dorm, right? ("In every generation a 'THBM' thread is made..." 😛 ) Without knowing how things are handled in the three less awesome dorms ( (sw) ) I suspect it wouldn't be too different there?

Post count isn't a big deal for me. Sorry that I made that impression. Maybe it would if I didn't have many and suddenly half went away. If postcounts were important to me I wouldn't like the idea of having birthday threads in social practice so the posts won't count or having postcount disabled in check in too. Both easy ways to increase your postcount if that's what you want. But I've never been against either. And I'm one (not important) person. Just because I don't see the point/logic in first having posts counted and then have them taken away it doesn't mean it's a bad idea to have it like that. So I'm sorry it upset you Buffy.

Random games aren't allowed, but games that are designed to help you get to know your housemates are generally ok. I know that in Drogyn though, those threads tend to be less like games as people usually make fairly substantive posts as opposed to "Heal Buffy, Hurt Faith.....blahblahblah20chars", so it's a bit different. But, yes, you're right, generally games should be played in Slaying Practice.

It doesn't really bother me either, i personally think that Dorm posts shouldn't be counted.
i think i lost like 50/60 posts yesterday on Thbm, but i really don't care 😀😀
i didn't even realise how much i posted there 😀

haha.
