Just a question regarding what you expect.

Are you trying to tell me that if I see someone breaking a rule, i'm not allowed to inform them of it? I mean, what if they don't know that they're breaking a rule? What if someone's been here two days, am I supposed to just dob them in?

Just curious, i don't want to go and get myself in trouble for helping someone, you know?

Okay, good question.

Most of the time, you should report it to a moderator, so they can speak to the person privately about it. There have been a lot of complaints, from newbies and older members, of people going up to someone and saying nastily "That's against the rules!" or "You can't do such and such!" People just feel ganged up on for making a mistake. Let the mods tell people what the rules are.

If someone asks you, of course you can answer them or try to help them out. But just to avoid confusion, and misinterpretation of rules, the staff should be the ones to talk to them about it.

Okay that makes sense, thank you very much. I see that you're following your pledge well for I assumed that would be an annoying question. 🙂

But, also while i'm here. Can I ask why the previous post was removed with no explanation? It had some valid points and I feel that it should have been addressed instead of merely cast aside like last time.

So, what you're saying is that if anyone wants to voice their opinion about the goings on of the past few days, they can get out? I'm sorry, but I don't see how that is fair. I always saw BB as a place where everyone is free to discuss what they like, so long as it's not against anyone.

I don't see anything that has been said as against anyone. Also, why would you hope to punish anyone in the first place? I thought it wasn't a punishment? Also, how is silencing people going to help move forward? Bottling things up never works and doesn't seem to be what a family does. I see BB as a family..arn't you supposed to be able to talk issues through with them?

Once again, i'm just trying to know where i stand. I don't want to voice my opinion too much and face a time out.

Ok I understand that you want to leave the negativity behind, but to my understanding, the folks who were banned don't know what they did that was so negative. Wouldn't it help the situation a lot to talk about the rules that were broken in specific examples instead of dancing around the questions people are leaving here?

We are moving forward, leaving the negativity and fighting that has plagued the boards the past few months behind us. We are not going to start things off by having a big argument here on the board. Either move forward positively, or be negative somewhere else. I had hoped that people would spend the weekend with their friends or family. Those that chose not to do that have punished themselves far better than I could ever hope to.

I will say it again: this was not a punishment. If people choose to not believe that, and punish themselves, that is their business.

I have always allowed people to speak their minds on this board, and I've had it thrown back in my face. So this time, it's not up for discussion. I will not engage in an argument about a punishment that doesn't exist.

I agree wit what you're saying here
Okay, so why has my post been removed? Why are you refusing confrontation? You're supposed to be admin, a friendly person to answer our questions in a kind, professional and unbias manner. Instead, you're shutting people down for having a voice!

This isn't Nazi Germany and guess what, i'm not one of your trouble makers! It is unprofessional of you to ignore what I have to say! You can't just tempaban a large group of people and expect no repercussions! I havn't said one thing bad by you or anyone else on this board and i therefore have i right to be heard and spoken to!

You can't just keep deleting posts that you don't like! Maybe if you acted like a grown up and responded to people's problems/concerns, we'd all be able to move on!

YOU are making this a drama. YOU are causing a lot of conflict. YOU are acting like a fascist dictator and refusing anyone the right to be an individual.

You banned people who are the reason i'm still here. Friendly Lurker? Yeah, he's the one who's been offering me constant encouragement to be social here. MozYa? He's the reason i'm always on the IRC. Spoons, Yc, Messy, DoI etc? They're the people who've been looking out for me and answering questions because YOU are unapproachable!

I believe that you are power hungry and too immature to finish the battles that you start!

I have made no trouble for you until now. I've never had a warning/suspention ban/edit or thread removal until I started posting things that YOU don't want to hear.

You're an ADMIN not a GOD. Maybe you should stop thinking only of yourself and do your job like you're supposed to.

I know i'm going to get banned for this message, and i don't care. Any site that has a strict "DON'T HAVE FRIENDS, DON'T DISAGREE AND DON'T SAY ANYTHING I DON'T WANT YOU TO" is not the place for me!

It's her site. She can do whatever she wants.
Alright, so it isn't punishment, but I still am trying to understand.

In effect what you are doing is shooting randomly into a crowd and then shouting, "Some of you deserved that, some of you didn't, but could happen to anybody, soooo... BEHAVE!"

How is that not crass? How is that something that we should all think is okay? This doesn't come across as punishment, but it does come across as persecution. We'll forbid you from doing something, even though you haven't done anything wrong.

It feels like anytime I say something you don't like, you respond by deletion. This does nothing to improve my view of what's going on, and only causes further harm. I want peace just as much as you do, but I can't get there unless I understand.

Deleting posts isn't going to make things any better. It won't make the issue go away. You put a lid on a pot of boiling water, and the water will just bubble over. That's what's happening here.

I just want to understand. If you don't mean it this way, please clarify how I'm reading it wrong.

Thanks.

Okay, so as to not derail the purpose of the other thread, I've moved all your posts here. You are free to ask questions, but any attacking or rude posts will be moved to the cemetery.

Give me a second to start at the top.

I was trying to let us all move forward and hoping that people would read and understand that everyone needs to work together on the board to make it a nice place to be. That wasn't happening before. People were being attacked. This weekend was about giving the people who have been attacked and hurt a break, and also giving the attackers some time to think about their actions.

I removed your posts initially because I didn't think anything constructive would come out of you saying "Yes it's a punishment" and me saying "No, it's not" fifty times.

---------- Post added at 11:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:52 PM ----------

And why were they removed without any warning to the writers of the posts, or any explanation?
lol, what, I'm supposed to post "I'm going to move your post to the cemetery in 33.5 seconds"?

Well, I wouldn't mind to have someone say my post was deleted.

Nope, because a) not a banning b) not a punishment. If you want a reason for why they were giving a time out, please read the "Welcome" section of the "Welcome back" thread in this forum.

So now you're saying that the 29 were the ones attacking!? You're going to need to show proof to back up your statements if you expect anyone to respect you ever again.

Earlier you implied that it was at random!

Also, you can't just ban the cool kids and expect no negative affects. You just made it worse.

So, what you're saying is that if anyone wants to voice their opinion about the goings on of the past few days, they can get out?

No, but a lot of instigating and angry posts serve no purpose. The point was for both sides to see what they lose when they don't work together and treat each other right. If people just want to fight and argue, they can't do it here anymore I'm afraid.

Once again, i'm just trying to know where i stand. I don't want to voice my opinion too much and face a time out.

No one is going to be, or was, given a time out because they voiced their opinion too much.

Nope, that's not what I said. I repeated what I said on Friday. That we picked people from BOTH sides of arguments we saw occurring on the board.

Also, you can't just ban the cool kids and expect no negative affects. You just made it worse.

lol the fact that you referred to them as the "cool kids" shows that there's a problem here. People don't get special treatment because they're "the cool kids". Everyone here is supposed to be equal.

So then it again becomes a legit question: how is "giving the attackers some time to think about their actions" NOT a punishment?

And WHAT SPECIFICALLY qualified any given individual as an "attacker?"
