Since when has being to lazy to get out of bed qualified as being sick?

I used to but now I work for myself I can't. It used to be cool just to be able to take a day off when you wanted.

i know this may sound like i'm a swot or something but i have not done that, before although i did have time of from school when i was sick, like if i had the flu or something.

but i'm in college now so, you don't have to go in, like school, which is so cool, anyway i have a day of on tuesdays and just do nothing really.

It never works out for me. If im really tired, bored, and have stupid lessons that day, then i will. But when i go back, for some reason i really do get ill, and my mum is like, "Well you cant have any more time off..." So ive stopped trying for a little while. Plus, daytime tv gets kind of addictive....

I've pulled a few sickies in my time, but never on my current job unless i'm actually ill. Basically because i love my job in the movie theatre. Nice people and the work isn't taxing.

I've only pulled one sickie in my current job, and that was due to a huge hangover, so I was sort of sick. 🙂

Oh yeah I've done the sickie thing a few times lol. But I don't really have much exept for school so its no big I'll usually do it on the days that I dont' have anything important to do at school like a test or something because I hate having to make up tests on my own time.

Thats a sort of unconventional sickness as you brought it on yourself 😛

I remember one work night out when i worked for Sky TV, my whole 'line' as we were, went out and got very very drunk and all had to trail into work the next day. And seeing as we didn't stop drinking till 4am we were all still drunk..now that was a fun day!

I had 2 years at school when I finished term with less that 50% attendance (which i was really quite proud of)... that was back when Richard and Judy were the king and queen of daytime TV... plus I always got more work done at home than I did at school, but in a fraction if the time, so really it wasn't so much as throwing a sickie as efficient time management 😉

I used to take the odd day off work in my last job 'cos it was tedious and I was losing the will to live (though technically i guess that could be called depression and it therefore a valid reason to be off sick 😛 )

But I don't do it in my new job 'cos I quite like it... but then I have only been there for 6 months... there is still time for me to return to my previous bad habits... especially as we now have Sky, so there is a huge choice of fine daytime viewing to keep me amused. Oh Yeah!

you mean there are other sorts of sickies?! I took a fair few off the last year of sixth form; at the tiem i was down and just generally apathetic; turns out I was suffering from post viral exhaustian for 6 months, so I was genuinely sick but didn't realise it at the time. I've done it once or perhaps twice at my old job (worked there for two years part time) but the best one was when I turned up at work and got sent home after 20 minutes...I was actually ok just tired and couldn't be bothered, so had showed up wearing no makeup and they thought I looked ill 😀 actually not so sure if thats good; although I had smudged grey eyeshadow under my eyes to make me look worse!

With school I don't usually fake sick to get out of it because I study independently at home, so whatever I don't do one day I have to make up the next if I want to stay on my schedule. As for work I haven't technically called in sick, I called in saying I couldn't make it to work because I had prior responsibilities for that same day (Serving at a wedding reception).

So overall, i've never done it.

At school I hardly ever missed a class unless I was projectile vomiting or something.

At work... well, I do take the occasional "mental health day" when things are slow. 🙂

I wish I did

I am sat at work with a headache, a sore throat and a streaming nose.

I might just go home at lunchtime though.

P.S. Sympathy would be cool 😀
