Hi. Does anyone on here like the Thunderbirds T.V show or any other show made by supermarianation, (Stingray, Fireball XL5, Captain Scarlet, Supercar, Four feather falls, Joe 90) and if so which is your favourite?

Thunderbirds is my favourite program ever, but I think thats a bit obvious😀. My favourite characters are Lady Penelope, Tintin, Parker and Brains. I hate the Hood. I also like Penelopes car FAB 1 because it's pink😀.
Don't get me started on Gerry Anderson shows. When I was a boy (in the 60's btw) these were what started me off getting into sci-fi. Thunderbirds was the best - closely followed by Captain Scarlet IMO. I suspect I've forgotten more about these shows than most of the rest of you young whippersnappers ever knew 🙂 I'm awaiting the new Thunderbirds movie with much trepidation...

A couple of years and computers ago (😉) I downloaded some of the test footage for this show and it looked pretty good so by now it should be quite brilliant. Unfortunately I didn't backup this file but it should still be out there somewhere if you want to Google around for it...

I also heard from my friend that there is going to be a Captain Scarlet film out next year. (but I'm not sure weather it is true).

I don't think that there will be a film as such - I'd file that one under internet rumour. The GCI TV show is virtually certain though. I did read (I think it was the Dreamwatch interview that BBC Cult are quoting from) that if the CGI Capt Scarlet was a success Anderson would consider doing a CGI Thunderbirds - which has got to be better than the current movie (btw - has anyone seen it yet? Is it as dreadful as I fear or surprisingly good?)Tintin said:

Has anyone else seen Midlands Today, today. They are at the Thunderbirds premier in Birmingham and they interviewed Silvia Anderson (Lady Penelope in the T.V show), Ron Cook (Parker in the movie) and someone who plays The hoods sidekick. Tintin was very disapointed that they didn't interview Brady Corbet (Alen Tracy in the movie), wasn't ya Lucy?😀

I just thourght I'd tell everyone Tintin is going to be away from the boards for a few days because she brought the Thunderbirds DVD boxseats yesterday so she will be watching them none stop for the next few days. She managed to get them half price bacause in Virgin they both cost £49.99 each but they were buy one get one free. Why can't they do offers like that on Buffy and Angel DVDs?

I too grew up watching his shows in the 1970's! I remember starting to watch Thunderbirds when I was six. That may have been the first time I was ever exposed to SCI-FI.
Later on, I marvelled at his "UFO", and SPACE:1999 series'. Man...I haven't seen those in YEARS.
However...I am rather embarrassed to admit that I have never heard of "CAPTAIN SCARLET", or for that matter, any of the other series listed in the above poll. :uhh: :sick: And I know I haven't been living in a vacuum all these years, I'm usually very good at keeping track of obscure Sci-Fi movies and TV shows. Were these ever even shown in the U.S.?

Thunderbirds was the most popular of all Gerry Anderson shows so that gets the most publisity and is the only one most people have heard of. Maybe they haven't shown any except Thunderbirds in the U.S as it was the most popular in the U.K. As theres a new series of Captain Scarlet being made they might start showing that in the U.S.

As for Capt. Scarlet being shown in the US, I always assumed it had been, given the proportion of US sounding actors in the show. However, a quick check on IMDb showed no US release dates but several user comments from US based viewers which leads me to think that it may have been shown in the US but possibly to a more limited market than Thunderbirds. Or that these guys are fans who watched on videos or dvds bought from the UK. I do know that Thunderbirds was specifically targeted at a US audience, hence the main characters being American.

I went to see the film yesterday and i thought that i was the;
SINGLE GREATEST FILM OF THIS YEAR NEVER A DULL MOMENT GREAT ACTING GREAT CAST(TINTIN) AND 4 THE GIRLS(ALAN TRACEY) THE SFX WERE BRILLIANT AND EVERY THING WAS GREAT. FORGET SPIDERMAN, THUNDERBIRDS WAS F.A.B.
