That's really cool! GUNTHER and HARTH! Woot!

Wonder who's at Harth's side there...who is that girl...

And what's up with this one? Looks like the infinity symbol over the Slayer's head. Is this an homage to a real painting?

Edit:

Oh wait, think I got it:

In tarot card decks, one of the cards depicts "The Magician" (also called the Magus or the Juggler), a young man holding up a wand in his right hand, and pointing to the earth with his left. On a table before him are the four elemental symbols, and above his head is the sign of eternity or infinity.

There's no doubt about it now then. They are going to get into this...

""˜Time of Your Life' will get closer to figuring out what happened in the past that created Fray's future," Hahn said. "The death of magic would not only put an end to multiple Slayers, but all Slayers." Indeed, when Fray takes the mantle as slayer, no one had held that title for hundreds of years.

Woo hoo!!!

I love getting new covers 😀

It's great to see Gunther and (especially) Harth. I've always wanted to know more about Harth, so it's good to know we'll be seeing more of him.

So . . . will I understand this issue if I haven't read Fray because I can't find a copy of the TPB for anything under $50?

It's currently $13.57 on Amazon
I like these covers (even though I don't have a clue who's on the bottom one) I was able to get a FRAY TPB from tfaw for less than $50 (i think I spent $23, I should be getting it in another 2 weeks) I don't know if they have any left in stock, they didn't the first time I tried to order it, but you can back order it and just wait till they get it in stock again.

So I guess no one here's tumbled to the idea yet that the mysterious woman beside Harth in the variant cover might be Drusilla?

I also think she looks a bit like Robin. That's who I first thought it was anyway. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It looks nothing like Dru, it looks exactly like that woman who won the contest
How can you tell? Her face is almost completely covered in shadow. All that we can see from this is that she has long dark hair and is wearing a dress that looks kinda old-fashioned (I'm a guy, so I know jack about women's clothes; maybe some of the ladies can say more about what she's wearing). Also, it's not a photo, it's a drawing, so there's no way of knowing yet how Jeanty might draw Dru. His style is great, but not exactly photo-realistic. (And yes, I know Moline's doing the interiors for this arc, but Jeanty's doing the variant covers.)

And from what was shown of Robin in #10, she seemed like a force of Good; it'd be a pretty lousy thing to do to her to write her into the comics and turn her into a villain, wouldn't it? Especially considering what her husband has said about her mental illness, where it sounds like she has a lot of difficulty separating the fantasy world of "Buffy" from the real one. She might not react well to her story taking a 'Skip'-ish sort of turn. And we know that her character was a "minder", but do we know that a minder is immortal? Not yet--but we do know that vampires (like Dru) are.

Not saying it's not Robin, but I just think Dru is a more likely candidate to be there alongside the future's supreme badass vampire. And she's actually been a pretty popular guess on some other boards, which is why I was a little surprised she hadn't been mentioned here yet. (Other theories I've heard include Dark Willow and Amy, but I don't buy either of those; I'm stickin' with Dru.)

Edit:

Robin wasn't someone I'd even considered before, so this only occurred to me after I'd posted the above message. ^^

Anyway, the #17 variant cover is by Georges Jeanty. The issue that Robin appeared in was #10. Jeanty didn't do the interiors for that one, either, but he did the variant cover, which Robin appeared on. So there's a frame of reference for how he draws her. And while she's not fat by any means, she's not super-thin, either. If you compare the two covers, the mystery woman on #17 is much slimmer.

I thought the whole thing with robin was a one time deal, not a continuing character?? I think it looks like Dru only because of the old fashioned type of clothes and the hair...it might also be a new character.

Wow, the covers look awesome! I like the idea that the mystery girl is Drusilla...I've wanted to see her since she left in Buffy season 5, and I'd love to find out what she's been up to.

Problem is, I haven't read Fray yet...I saw the TPB on TFAW for about $20, so maybe I'll get that.
