Time slot

i know up against Survivor and Friends...ACK!!! We all have to make extra special sure that we watch this show and get the word out how awesome it's gonna be...Eliza deserves a hit show! And this, from what i've read, has the makings of a great series...

But remember that Alias was up against stiff compitition in X-Files, and look how well it faired!! I have hope for this show...

Yes, Fridays..... but that's about it.... Firdays is like the 'death' slot on FOX.

That is pretty harsh, thursdays against Friends. But hopefully Fox will actually give the show fair chance, and also consider not pure ratings, but what it's compeating against. I like Friends, but I'll definatly check out Tru over it. Friends will end up in perpetual reruns and DVDs, so it's not like I won't get to see Friends. I'd rather help out a new show, get off it's feet if that's how Fox is gonna play it.

Like Jeraldine said, at least it isn't Fridays, cuz ya, Friday is a curse to tv shows. And ya, pretty harsh. Especially with it being the last season of Friends, it's not good at all. I plan to watch Tru and tape Friends. Tru needs all the help it can get.🙂

Now see if this was in the UK then that is a good slot, its actually the day and time of Buffy currently.

Is survivor popular in the states? It may attract a different audience than friends, you never know. If it gets then strong fanbase then it wont matter when its on, they will watch it 🙂

It's a toss up as to whether or not it's worse than Fridays since Fox hasn't ever really had any programming on Thursdays in such a long time. The ratings Fox has on Thursdays are worse than their Friday ratings.

If Tru and The OC have mediocre ratings, what will happen? Fox has been averaging about 3.2/5 national ratings on Thursdays. They canceled Girls Club, and John Doe who had higher ratings than that and Firefly and Fastlane were about at that level and were canned. Do they leave Tru and The OC on and let them build an audience? Yank one of them for Still Life? Or put on some reality program or movies and specials like they always have on Thursdays?

The sad fact is that Fox can edit together some old Cops footage of car chases or people being arrested, and get higher ratings in the key demographics then if they air scripted programming on Thursdays for 1/3 of the cost. But that's a short term solution. Boston Public is on it's last legs and a 4'th season of 24 might not happen. If Fox doesn't get some scripted drama to last, they're going to have nothing but junk reality programming.

I don't really watch anything on thursdays, so it works out really well for me - unless they move one of my other shows around again - then i'll be a bit upset.

Thursdays are fine for me, its actually one of my only free days so this works out perfectly

I think Thrusday at 8 could actually work. It would be the only supernatural drama on at that time, and offer an alternative for those who, like me, usually end up watching DVDs - and that's with digital cable and 300+ channels. There's absolutely nothing on at that time that would appeal to the same audience. From that standpoint, it makes sense. But against Friends' last season? They'll regain a lot of people for that, and it could be a problem. I'm going to remain optimistic. 🙂

Oh man, that *does* suck! It's competing with Survivor and Friends, geeze. I'm not a active watcher of either shows so it's fine with me. But if there targeting the adult audience, its going to be hard to get ppl to switch from friends or survivor to Tru, if they haven't previously seen Eliza's work, with was dominantly teen shows/movies.

I don't really watch anything on Thursdays, so it works out ok for me. just remember, just because a show is given a time slot doesn't make it permanent. remember how many times Angel was moved. and Buffy changed networks.

it will take some work, but we can do it!

Yeah, but Fox refused to move Firefly to a better timeslot.

They're trying to build lineups on certain days, and won't move a show to another days.

Let's not. It seemed at times like the WB was trying to tank the show by making it impossible to find. If it stays where it is it has a good shot. When a show moves around, the fans aren't always willing to move with it.

thursdays at 8:00 pm!? i thought they would have had it on friday at 9:00 pm or something...but a thursday???

It isn't a great time slot, but if the fans are there
it doesn't really matter.

We just have to make sure we give them good ratings
cause FOX sure does like to cancel shows.

The execs at Fox have said that they're going to give their Thursday lineup a chance to develop an audience - with the qualification that as long as they get better ratings then they were getting with shows like The Pulse.

The Pulse was averaging like 3.2/5 rating/share. However, they have had higher ratings with specials and re-runs of Joe Millionare and movies. The ridiciously stupid show Stupid Behavior Caught on Tape premiered last week at Thursday at 8pm for the summer with a something like a 5.0/7.

I think Tru can easily get above what the Pulse was getting. That's about John Doe and Fastlane type ratings. But if Fox raises the bar and expects higher ratings than that from Tru when Friends has celeb event stunt casting and Survivor is on, then there might be issues. That was the issue with Firefly. It was getting better numbers than other sci-fi shows they had on, but it never beat the ratings that World's Wildest Police Videos had. Fox had the bar for Firefly's rating set so high it could never met it.

Yea, seems so many broadcasting stations want to out beat the others. It's a mad brawl between Fox, UPN, and CBS.

They are trying to get more scripted shows in because of the advertisment failures the realality shows were getting. I watched a special on this on TV.

Seems Fox is trying to out run the station that has C.S.I going because of the high rateings. Guess this would explain all the new shows coming and and the bar raisings for shows.

They're all trying to be number one.

Fox is probably trying to grab the crowd that's tired of the Friends-Survivor thing, so they figure that's one of the better TV nights of the week, why not see what happens.

As long as its not on at wenesdays at 8, anything is fine with me (cuz thats when angel is on)

i just hope that tru gets a good time slot cuz thats usually what causes new shows to be canceled in their first season. Thats what happened with Joss Whedons 'miracles" on abc it was onmondays at 9:00pm after i think NYPD blue i think, And i really liked that show!!!! it was freaky and cool, and i was mad when they cancelled it. NOT FAIR AND IT BETTER NOT HAPPEN TO TRU!!!!!!
