'Tis the season of reboots

I'm not talking about the films but what I'd like to know is other members opinions of the current version of the character Wednesday compared with the the original version of the character.

I don't know what Wednesday was like in the original comic strips, but the current Wednesday seems like an older version of the one from the 90s films rather than the one from the... 60s? sitcom.

The original comics barely gave names to the children, the center of gravity in this property is between the 60s TV show and the 90s movies, and the weird academic debate insisting that the Munsters was better social commentary. Most of what was best about the comics was pulled into both. I know there's other stuff, but the ransom cartoons didn't break any new ground.

Don't get me wrong, you should hew close to the source material. But, in this case, the source material are century old single panel cartoons from the New Yorker that are making fun of the Dutch. It's something to work with, but you just can't straight adapt that.

@ILLYRIAN No, just that the Wednesday in the 90s films was similar in personality to Wednesday in Wednesday, just a few years younger. About ten or so, rather than 16. The one from the B&W sitcom was a much cheerier sort.
