If they were originally planning to call the arc "Sunnydale," you know what that means...
Time travel.
Which makes sense, since it's really the only way to undo the whole Twilight mess at this point.
The bad thing about a time travel story is that large sections of Buffyverse history could get retconned out of existence.
The good thing is that dead characters could become not-dead.

I absolutely love "Last Gleaming". It makes a lot of sense. The US national anthem The Star Spangled Banner with the line "twilight last gleaming." Great. Now I'm probably going to be interpreting that song for hidden meaning related to S8.

Oh my God...you just seriously blew my mind. Time travel? Could that...really be possible? Could, say, Anya be saved? could they reverse Angel's decision to become Twilight? What then? That would change everything.
Also, "gleaming" kind of reminds me of the "glow" that Buffy and Angel had...

Which reminds me of Spike/William's poem in the Fool for Love episode. "What's another word for gleaming? It's a perfectly perfect word as far as words go but the problem is that nothing rhymes" So he went with "effulgent".

I personally love time travel when it's used in a clever manner so I would welcome that style of arc. I don't know if I'd look too much into "Last Gleaming" though. It could mean anything at this point. But I would've preffered Sunnydale as well.

I think it has been made clear for quite some time that time travel was going to be a major theme in this season.
In regards the title, I too prefer "Sunnydale" simply because it fits in much better with the name of the first arc, "A Long Way Home".

Dude!! The Sco just remembered, because the Sco loves bad movies.. that one of those sk8ers dudes in the movie was the same cat that was Whistler at the end of season 2.. I remember far too much about crap... Wow..

The problem that I have with time travel and time/memory altering themes is that they have always seemed to me to be the lamest of all "fixes" for whatever problems that the writers have gotten the characters into. Buffy, Willow, Spike, Angel, and all of the others have, either through their own or someone else's design, accident, stupidity, or simply fate, progressed to this point. Joss jumping up at this point and yelling, "Do over! Everybody back to Square One," isn't a solution, it's a cop out. Plus, unless the characters retain the knowledge of the original mistakes that they made, they will commit them once again. If they DO, however, retain that knowledge, and do everything differently, they run the risk of creating untold anomalies, almost certainly with worse eventual results that what had happened the first time around. (Look at "The Butterfly Effect," or "It's A great Life." as well as several "Twilight Zone," episodes to get my meaning. Either the course of time is fixed and unalterable, or it is in a state of such delicate balance that the least change will cause cataclysmic changes)
Joss is too talented, creative a writer to have to rely on such a crutch as time travel to solve Buffy's problems and straighten out the Twilight mess, regardless of who is ultimately revealed as the one responsible, whether it be Angel, the General, Amy, Warren, or someone we haven't up until this point heard of. Mistakes have been made, crimes have been committed. Someone is responsible, and that someone HAS to be made to pay. No parallel dimensions, no evil twin brothers, and no more "I Will Remember You" reboots.
And most certainly, no time travel.

Wouldve preferred Sunnydale since well..how can you beat Sunnydale! But will be interesting to see how this final arc goes. Time Travel may be involved but they cant change to much or else The First could get set free again.
