I don't know very much about Tivos but a quick Google suggests that it is possible to connect them to computers but only if they are Series 2 models. Here are some links which seem to be written in English, rather than nerd 🙂 I hope they're useful to you.

I don't have a broadband connection, so I need to find a way to get it to use my computer's wireless or dialup connections, and it's not working lol
I thought I bought a wireless adapter, but the person actually sent me a wireless router instead *sigh*. So I have a usb-ethernet adapter and a crossover cable, and I've enabled ICS on my computer, but it's still not seeing the tivo. So now I can't decide whether I should return the router for what I had actually ordered, or get something else.
