I just watched Flooded (BTVS 6.3) again and a question came to my mind...with the exception of Anya, the entire Scooby gang seemed very much against the charging of those who are helped by Buffy, but meanwhile we see AI employees doing it very often (or atleast attempting to get the money from them). Any ideas..theories??
 
Well pointed out, i've never thought about that before. As both are fulfilling their 'destiny' so to speak. It always seems to be Cordelia that wants to get clients to pay for money, and we all know how she is with that.

I loved the comment Angel made about him hiding some around the office to catch her smelling it.
 
Well Angel Investigations are hired and do detective work. Buffy patrols and randomly helps people. AI are a lot more business like.
 
LOL or in Epiphany when they were looking for her and Angel was like "why would she go to a customer's house in the middle of the night" and Wes & Gunn said "They owed us money"

Got me thinking abit when I watched Flooded...now I just got thinking about how similar Cordelia & Anya were...hmmm..I think I smell another thread...

I was just watching Epiphany earlier and laughed at that. Anya and Cordy are both similar when it comes to money. Cordy used to have it and now doesn't. Anya, well she was new to the whole money thing and became obsessed by it.
 
Wesley & Gunn did like to get paid too though...and didn't Doyle go along with Cordy when the issue of money originally arose in S1?

Well he had gambling issues, and of course it was Cordy, he'd follow her to the end of earth bless him.
 
I remember watching Flooded and it really suprised me when they laughed at Anya's idea. I thought that was the perfect oppurtunity to have an Angel mention there and was really dissapointed when the moment past with not even a comment 🙁

I don't think the scoobies could get away with charging though...it does differ to AI.
 
They probably could have settled their financial woes by opening up "Scooby Investigations" though. I'm sure in Sunnydale it would have been a gold mine 😀
 
But Angel worked in the city and people would have thought nothing about hiring someone to investigate their problems...I think its a bit different when people live in a town. And even though Sunnydale would have no problem drumming up the business, I don't think people who use the agency.
 
Angel needs an excuse to get involved. In a small town if something weird happens Buffy will hear about it. (Even if it's the International Airport, Docks, 43 church kinda small town) whereas LA is ...erm... big. So Angel charges, because it's not cheap having a hotel or office in LA, and because Buffy, according to an essay I just read, is a Marxist.
 
I don't think you can say Buffy is a Marxist, she clearly had a superiority complex and one of the main ideas of Marxism is communism will be achived, and communism is about the equal distribution of tasks and work and rewards. Anywho havn't read the essay.
 
😀 It was just a piece by a buddy of mine, half joking, but funny. Almost entirely based around that shot from Anne with the hungamunga.
 
Was thinking about this and do you think Anya charged for vengence? She didn't Cordy because well Cordy died then the spell was reversed. Might make sense in how she got money until she worked in The Magic Box.
