I saw this video this morning and, I have to admit, it is very well made and surely sends out its message in more powerful way than most videos about bullying.

Now, I don't know about you guys, but I was bullied in high school and this video litteraly opened the gates and I was crying like a baby. So maybe not recommended for sensible people. But I felt that maybe we could discuss this issue in light of this new video.

What do you guys think? Could it make a change?
 
Sorry, but this video won't do a thing. If there is a fight in a schoolyard, the teacher knows if he tries to break it up:

1. He may be injured or killed and the assailants, if they are young enough, will face minimal or no penalties.

2. He will be charged with assault, assault causing bodily harm and/or battery.

3. He will be fired.

4. He will be sued.

So every teacher, regardless of whether he wants to help, will look the other way. The Johnathans and Marcie Ross students who are beaten up or ignored will get no help unless the legal barriers to stopping cruelty are eliminated.

After that, you have to get the teachers to recognize that there is a problem that should be solved. Most teachers just don't want to know. The watchword in school should be "talk is cheap - until you have to buy it back". Those who cause the problem should be the ones who are given a degrading penalty and no case should be overlooked.

Some school boards have announced anti-bullying initiatives - but a close look reveals they are empty words. They can't get by the legal liability lottery that could cost them millions if they take any action at all. So they hope people will be placated by the idea that something will be done. They just want the problem to go away.
 
That was a really lovely video. So sad but it made a big point, thanks for posting it!

I've never really understood how people can be so mean to each other or why every single school has to have such a horrible atmosphere of people being dicks to each other. There's something so wrong with the world when kids going through a tough and confusing time of their lives when they hit puberty have to simultaneously be thrown into the lions den and get ripped a part like that. It sucks, I wish there was a better way to handle it and get rid of bullying from schools but I don't think it's down to the teachers at all. There's only so much they can do, and yes it would be nice if some of them helped more but it's down to the pupils I think, and a video like that hopefully spreads a message to those kids who would be inclined to bully to maybe think twice before they open their mouths.

When I was at school we were part of the ABC, or 'anti bullying club' where basically we sat in a room at lunch time and kids could come to us and talk, but it was really more of a place for us all to hide out because we didn't want to go out there. That was the extent of our schools anti bullying policy and it didn't really work besides giving people a place to hide. But no one should have to hide, it's so irritating!

So yeah I think it's down to getting the students themselves to make the change. I know it's hard but I think the best thing teachers can do is educate and stuff like this hopefully helps to educate the bullys on the fact that they're ruining lives :/
 
I don't think it will do much, videos like this need to raise awareness. People are already aware of this issue so Im not sure how much it can do, but getting people to like and share it will keep raising awareness so it can't hurt.

Aside from the message the animation is stunning!
 
Wow, they did a great job with the animation. The video is visually stunning.

I really don't know how much of a change it will make. Bullying is kinda a hot topic now, schools and the media seem to be talking about it a lot; but I don't know that anything substantial has been done to solve the problem.

It's a shame adults don't do more when it comes to instilling morals into children. Parents and teachers need to teach children to be compassionate and respectful to others. IMO character education needs to be emphasized at an early age rather than focusing on anti-bullying education that tends to take place after the fact and later in education.
