Tom Lenk is Gay

Awesome, Tom! Congrats on taking a brave step. Here in Texas, it's a change in public life that can be considered very brave in some parts.

However, I have to say dang it, one more cutie off the market for all the single girls.

And this is important why? He's sexuality shouldn't matter, he was a great actor and I loved him as Andrew.

It matters because heterosexuality is still a norm in our society. It matters because people are assumed to be straight, until they "come out" "“ even people who apparently according to this thread "seem gay", need to proclaim that they aren't, for it to be true. It matters because every person who "comes out" makes it a little bit easier for the next person, it makes the heterosexual majority and norm a little bit smaller.

(I really annoys me when people go "I don't go around telling everyone how straight I am, why do you have to keep telling people how gay you are?" 'Cause yes, why do I? Maybe because people keep assuming I'm straight. If pretty much everyone you met assumed you were gay, maybe you'd correct them too. Maybe you'd be annoyed too.
As long as the norm to be heterosexual is as strong as it is today, it is not the same, and I therefor appreciate everyone who keeps making a point of remind people that you shouldn't assume things...
(And no, this last part wasn't directed at Gilesau.))

But it is the 'norm' to be 'straight'.

Biologically speaking it is the norm but also it is based on the numbers of 'straight', 'gays', 'bisexual' and/or what other sexuality you wish to subscribe.

I have no problem with people assuming one way or the other, IF someone makes a wrong assessment and says something, I will correct them, but I don't mind that.

Homophobia is where I have the issue and that doesn't mean the same thing.

In fact I hate the term Homophobia because I don't believe it sums up what is actually going on even giving a different spin and a certain level of credence to people being called Homophobic.

As per Tom, well it never occured to me either way because I don't judge an actors sexuality based on their acting because they are umm acting and I have never seen him in a different situation to playing Andrew (though now I think about it and the very probable situation that the crew knew he was Gay on Buffy and Angel, the end to 'The Girl in Question' leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth).

Kudos to him for coming out and indeed to everyone else that has and will, but I seriously couldn't care less what he is because I doubt I will ever meet him and he will not impact my life - though if he ever comes to Croydon I might ask him for a drink😛

That's cool. I'm glad he had the courage to come out to every one, and I support him whole-heartedly. Partly because I support homosexuals in general, partly because Tom Lenk is hilarious, and a phenomenal actor.
