Too soon?

I've just started watching Angel (up to the middle of season 1) and like most others fell in love with the character Doyle, but I really felt that his death was way too soon. It was a very honorable death but for me it happened too early into the series. I'm enjoying Angel but I feel as if the character changes are getting rushed, like the arrival of Wesley (dont get me wrong, I love Wes) But I would like to see the characters stick around for a while before going, especially ones like Doyle.
What do you guys think?

Yeah we all loved Doyle...
I heard what happened was that the actor was fired, so they needed to write a death for him quickly. He was intended to be a permenant character originally. Not long after leaving Angel, the actor died in real life.

Tell us what you think of Angel as you go along! I love hearing new opinions. 🙂

I loving the Angel/Buffy crossovers, "I will remember you" had me bawling!
it feels like Ive been missing out lol all of these things have been going down in LA with Angel while Ive been just focusing on Buffy 😛 I have a lot of catching up to do.

Also another question that I just thought of, was the guy that Cordilia slept with in "Expecting" her first?

I know! I'm not really a big Bangel shipper, but I always cry in that episode...

I never thought of that...does she ever sleep with Xander? I guess not.
It could have been...Good question! I'm just not sure.

I'm really curious about this Cordelia question you have brought up. I'm going to make into a thread on the main boards...maybe someone knows for sure!

btw, you might want to be careful on here until you've watched all of Angel...spoliers galore! We try to be coureous with this...but they sometimes slip out!

Yeah Doyle died way too soon. And maybe if they didn't fire him and gave him a job for a longer life... Glenn Quin might have been in alive now yet... We'll never know, unfortunately. It'd also have been interesting to see Cordelia and Doyle more in a relationship by the fact Doyle is halfdemon.

I liked Doyle a lot, he was a great character, but I don't mind that he was killed off so quickly...it made it more shocking to me. It's not like anyone expected a major character to die so soon. Maybe it would have been better had he had at least four more episodes, but it's not that huge a deal to me.

You took the words right out of my mouth, his sudden death makes his character more memorable to me. Plus watching Doyle now and knowing Glenn Quinn is dead makes it even more special. I just can't help but like Wesley even more when he first joins though.

I liked Doyle but i wasn't that bothered about his death becuase he'd only been in 10/11 episodes? and i hadn't really got time to know his character properly and be affected by his death. Plus it meant that Wes got to be in Angel! who i love 😀

I absolutly love Doyle. He's my favorite Angel character. I would have loved to see him for a bit longer. Actually a lot longer but like you said, his death was so dramatic that it made his character so memorable.

Does anyone know why he got fired? He die of an overdose right? Did he get fired because of his drug addiction?

I completely agree, I'm glad they brought Wesley in when they did. They should have kept Doyle, at least until the last episode of season 1 though. He was a great character and I would love to have seen the interactions between him and Wesley.
I always wanted them to bring Doyle back for an episode, I was so sad when Glenn Quinn died. I loved him in the film doctor Giggles too.:You_Rock_

I love Doyle & I think he died too soon as well. I would've loved to see more about his character but oh well, we can just cherish what we have. It's so sad to know that Glenn died shortly after leaving the show, I thought he was a great actor & I loved him for years on Roseanne as well 😀
