Does anyone here think that Wesley was brought on to the show too soon? it was the episode right after doyle died!! And also there wasn't a whole lot of being sad that he was gone, i mean there were some scenes that were funny!
 
hmmm i think it was sudden bringin wes on like that but if it were the angel and cordy show for a month would you have watched it?

i would have watched because of david,but the show would have been a little boring i guess



About wes,for me it was ok,i love him(david in the 1º place of course),he's a great character
 
They could have done with two or three episodes without Wes, would be nice!
 
unfortunately it kinda resembles life i think, the world doesnt stop turning when a loved one dies and wes turning up and demon fighting is just their lives, there are alot of referances to doyle in their lives so it shows they did not forget him..

I agree with you Foi! There were many times when both Angel and Cordelia reflected on their partner and friend! The world continues to turn, even when some of us stop....
 
yeah i guess thats true they did talk about doyle some. I didn't mean a whole month of just cordy and angel but maybe one episode...but i guess even then that might be a little bit boring
 
I don't think it was too soon. I don't think that they could of Done the show with just 2 charactors they needed atleast three. And yes there was Sadness with doyle being gone. U've seen how cordy was in the episode right after the Episode Doyle Died. Angel was sad too. And well, wes didn't know him.
 
I think they didn't want the show to be sad and dark from the start, so they brought Wesley in to keep it lighthearted. Otherwise, Season 1 of Angel could have been comparable to S6 of Buffy and that didn't go over the best.
 
Yeah, I suppose they could have, although I don't know what they would have done. Sit there and mourn? It can get boring...they have to advance the plot as soon as they can otherwise people might lose interest. There are other shows that did this...look at Charmed..if you haven't seen it, Prue (one of the sisters) dies and is "replaced" the next episode (which happens to be the next season) with their half sister Paige.
 
I guess it does seem kind of sudden... but like as said before. That's life.

Maybe a few episodes without Wes would've been okay. Seeing Angel and Cordy deal with the fact that Doyle was gone.

But, you know, Wes is such and integral part of the show.
 
Chelsea but in Charmed there was still a bit of time for fans to get used to new situation,in Angel not...
 
But that was Joss's plan..to pull the rug out from under the viewers...

He had originally planned to make Jessie(welcome to the hellmouth, the harvest) a regular then kill him off quickly, just to throw viewers for a loop...
He didn't have the money to do it in BTVS s1...but when Angel rolled around he did...so he took his chance...I don't think he realized he was creating a character that would resonate years later...
 
Maybe there could have been an episode in between, but I think Wesley was brought at a good time. Life keeps going no matter what happens, like said before, it doesn't stop for the death of a loved one....
 
Yeah, they did focus on her death and tried to mourn it, but I was saying that Paige came into the picture the same episode that we all found out about Prue's death.

Although I loved Doyle, I think that Wesley is a lot better, and I thought they made a good decision in not sticking to the storyline of letting them sit around and mourn for Doyle because it would have gotten us stuck that we have lost a main character so soon and they wanted to see his death as something good and heroic, not a sad and mournful moment.
 
All I know is my sister and I cracked up laughing when he made his appearance. We kept guessing who it might be.. We're like who is this obviously "cool" character, gotta be tough.. gotta be.. Wes? 😀
 
I watched this episode when it first aired and I seriously thought that the mystery guy was Doyle.I hadn't had seen much of Wesley since I started watching Buffy during Earshot and it never occured to me that it might me him.It did look like Doyle a bit because of the lighting and everything.The fact that they kept him in the credits for that episode also led me on.
 
I think that it was kind of far fetched that a new character was brought in to replace him so quickly, but I don't agree that there wasn't alot of references to mourning their friend. I think that there were many references to it, and many scenes where they reflected on their time with Doyle. They were definatley distraught and messed up about it.
