too soon?

Well if they hadn't brought him on the show, there would only have been a depressed Angel and a depressed Cordy. And even though that would have been realistic and all... probably wouldn't have made great television. So I'm very glad they brought Wesley there so quickly..

Maybe instead of bringing in Wes a few eps later, they could have brought him in earlier and overlapped Doyle. Then he wouldn't have seen like such an obvious character replacement (which is always a dangerous move as fans of the first character tend to turn against the second, as with Riley replacing Angel).

I think Wes was a welcome breath of fresh air after Doyle's demise his comic timing took the sting out of it. A bit like an old friend showing up after a really bad time you had.Plus his identity being hidden at first added to the mystery of who the moterbike hunter was. Then you have the situation Angel was in, who would of translated the demons words..? that led em to the hotel to stop the auction..?

I never have been a fan of Wesley, from his start in Buffy all the way through to Angel, so the fact that he did appear so suddenly did kinda miff me.

For me, there couldn't be a replacement for Doyle, and I know the show couldn't really afford to leave Doyle's place in the team empty, but for me it was too soon. Wesley wasn't a great replacement in my opinion. I didn't like him as Buffy's Watcher, and the plotline between him and Cordy in the Buffy series was a little weird, and even weirder in Angel, since I don't think it was even mentioned (I'm probably wrong on that one, it's been ages since I watched the episode) 🙂

Does anyone here think that Wesley was brought on to the show too soon? it was the episode right after doyle died!! And also there wasn't a whole lot of being sad that he was gone, i mean there were some scenes that were funny!
actually, I would have liked to see Wesley come on an episode sooner, or Doyle to have stayed an episode longer... so we could have had at least one episode with both of them.

i just have to say i loved the scene in your welcome (season 5) where cordilia is watching the tape with doyle on and she refers to him as the first solder to fall i fount that a little emotional i loved it 🙂 who's with me?

I don't think it was too soon at all, but if you ask me, Wes should have been brought in a couple episodes BEFORE Doyle died, because it was awfully convenient for him to show up in the next episode.

I don't think it was too soon. I was glad to have Wes on right away. helps you to get over the fact that doyle died. And I think Angel and Cordy needed it too. With just the two of them it would have been more lonely, more time to be sad. Unfortunately in life you have to try your best to move on and I think Wes helped with that.
