Top 5 most underrated Characters in Buffyverse

@Kairos, I believe her full name was Bethany Chalk.

That was actually a good episode, I was just reminded how I always thought it was one of the better done-in-one stories in season 2.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Marcie Ross, the girl who became invisible and when Buffy had her counsellor's job in Season 7, she rushed to the girl who was disappearing and slapped her to get her back into visibility. The only other time visibility was an issue was in the early episodes that included Dawn where she drifted in and out of pictures.
 
Lilah - the more I watch her the more I love her. Yes, she is completely selfish and amoral but that is her charm. She and Wes are HOT!

Dawn - a decent job as a realistic teen, and klepto.🙂

Lorne - in part because they kinda forgot about him in the last season and he deserved better

Anya - same problem. A thousand year old demon used as a walking joke. I really think that affected her popularity

Sirk - yeah very little screen time but he made the most of it!

OMG - Ethan Rayne! - he would come second only to Lilah.

so agree about Lilah and Lorne, and i LOVE mr. Sirk,hes so awesome :)
I love Tara,Faith,and Principal Snyder,i just didn't think of any of them as underrated. Seems like they get plenty of love from the fans. otherwise my list might be modified somewhat. 😛

That's also the reason characters like Tara didn't make my list, because I feel like even though her fallowing might be small, she has a group of BtVS fans that are very dedicated to her character and what she represents. So I definitely don't think she's undervalued.

I agree about Mr. Trick though! He was an awesome villain that barely ever get mentioned. He has awesome charisma. Like seriously, s3 had the best line up of villains with the Mayor, Faith and Mr. Trick.

Lorne - while not particularly underrated in the series - I have to agree that he definitely
under appreciated. For how awesome the character is fans seldom discuss him - at least not that I run across in any of the forums. Lorne is one of my favorite characters in all of the Jossverse.

My list:

Lorne
Charles Gunn
Connor - For me he was probably the most tragic victims and his is my favorite stories of all the Angel series.

Buffyverse:

Warren - was one of the best evil characters of all and Adam Busch, IMO, gave one of the most outstanding performances in the entire series.

Mr. Trick - Wonderful vampire that I wish had stayed longer it would have been interesting seeing him interact with Spike and Angelus.

Joyce - agree as well about Buffy's mom - it was tough being the Slayer's mother.
 
Maybe one reason why Lorne seems under appreciated (under discussed?) is because he's the hardest character to ship. No one really knows how to ship him (or what to ship him). Part of the popularity of characters around here seems to have to do with the fun of shipping them. Just an idea. I know there is obviously a hell of a lot more to Faith's popularity (for example) than all the fan-ships, but still.
