Just in time for Halloween, the writers from Den of Geek have released their top 50 terrifying TV characters.

Have a look here (if you dare).

There are four characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer included, and many others from shows such as Dr. Who and The X-Files.

What do you think?

Did anybody really find Pennywise scary?

I thought he was ridiculous/camp...although usually I find Tim Curry scary (its the grin) and clowns (mildly) so maybe I just didn't rate that particular performance. Plus, lets face it, IT wasn't Stephen King's best work now was it?

I agree with a lot of the rest. Treygar, Toombes, The Gentlemen, a couple of unpleasent Deadwood specimens.

I would've liked to see something from either Sleepy Hollow or the Black List- both shows had some shudder-worthy characters. 😱

Those real life Pennywise(s) were scary I will tell you that much!

Yeah, Tooms is creepy af. He is my childhood trauma.

Louis Jourdan's Dracula is easily my favourite portrayal, along with the BBC's TV adaptation being my favourite version. So, so good.

I remember The Gentlemen scaring me early on. I hadn't even seen "Hush", it was just that bit of the s5 and 6 opening credits where the door swings open and they're stood grinning... always used to jump haha.

Kralik, Der Kindestod, and The Gentlemen - all terrifying, all left a great impression.

I was sure Angelus would be on the list, though -- definitely over Warren. However, Warren being human and having no demonic excuse for his actions is probably most terrifying of all. The article was correct in reminding us that he earned his spot on the list because there are people like this in real life.

Other than the Buffy ones and a few others I didn't really know any of the other characters. But seemed like a good list. I agree about Kralik, the fact that he was like in a straight jacket and needed meds, made him more creepy than a regular vampire.

Not to mention he was a serial killer before he got sired. Speaks volumes as to how horrible he was.

Oh no they did not just remind me of Chinga from X-files *cowers in corner*

And I also found Pennywise really scary!

Not their number 1 though, I loved Bob so much I was called Bob for a really long time.
