Top 50 TV shows poll (2023 edition)

Oooo very fun. I will have to make my list sometime and send it in.

Looking forward to seeing those results posted for our 100th anniversary
 
Depending how many lists I get I will give people up to Feb or March? Don't forget you can have as many as 20.
 
This is going to be insanely difficult, we watch so much TV 😅
But I love the idea, so I'll have to get cracking on a list. Thanks for allowing 20 titles, that'll help!

@Mr Trick Could it be possible if the list is separated for mini series and long term TV series?
For example, I am not comfortable with ranking shows like BtVS, Breaking Bad and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend along with Sharp Objects, WandaVision and Queen's Gambit. 🤔

I think because they all come under fictionalised dramas (albeit based on truth in the case of Queen’s Gambit), I would probably stick to one big list. If I get enough entries I may do a breakdown of subgroups, aside the main list. To help you a bit, Wandavision and Sharp Objects are two different examples. Sharp Objects is a complete story so if you feel strongly enough about it’s quality next to a show with multiple seasons then you can make the call to put it above or below said show. Wandavision I think has another season planned or at the very least feels like a show which could have more. My advice is unless you feel that one season of Wandavision is exception, I would probably rank it below a show you love with multiple seasons or a very good one off. But it’s your call, these things are all about tastes. Hope that helps.

Oh I was viewing WandaVision as a mini series and didn't know there was going to be another 🤔. What you're suggesting is logical I'll just stick to the initial idea then 🙂

Whoa we probably wont get the results until about 2025 as it is! Don’t try and complicate things for him or you will add a couple more years onto the waiting 😉

PS Does your post mean you would still put Breaking Bad above BCS in your list?

I'm on 4th season of BCS, so far it is one point below BB :D
Well I've only got one list so far, so its not me that's slacker @Dogs of Winter @HowiMetdaSlayer etc.. 😀

@Dogs of Winter Yeah I would agree that Saul is the better show.

Me and @RachM are doing a simliar list this month so will probably just include the top 20 of those.

I honestly haven't watched that many newer shows because there's just too many and too little time, but there are a select few that I've seen and liked; one in particular I loved- Yellowjackets w/Christina Ricci & Juliette Lewis, but it's only had one season so far. Nothing will ever replace BtVS to me but I was surprised how into Yellowjackets I got and how excited I am for season 2- I haven't been as excited for a new show/season since BtVS & Angel- literally. Wednesday was decent and also has a lot of potential to rank in my top 20-50 if it pans out well.

Yeah Yellowjacket has a lot of premise. I really liked S1 too. It can only get better hopefully.
Season 2 of Yellowjackets is March. Its possible the polls for this might still be open then. If S2 can at least match S1 then I can see it making the list. Even taking season 2 out the picture, S1 alone made it into one of the most talked about new shows. There always tend to be some newer shows on these lists just because their so fresh in people's minds. From a list of 50 I could see Yellowjackets appearing somewhere.
 
New shows often make these sorta lists . I can't think of much really recent I'd vote for , Peaky Blinders , Stranger Things maybe . I'm definitely leaning towards a more personal list this time ...rather than attempting actual objectivity . I have seen a lot more shows in recent years . Looking forward to adding Community ,Babylon 5 and The Magicians , maybe a few curveballs like Dark Angel into the mix .
 
After my top 3 shows (Buffy, Angel and Doctor Who) I struggle to order the rest. Probably Supernatural, The 100, Anne with an E and Dark but after that all the way to 50 it's harder. @Mr Trick Lost is somewhere in there!

You don't have to do a list of 50. It can either be a top 10 or a top 20. Lost was on the last poll (quite high I think?). I would expect show like that to always feature somewhere.

I am halfway through S6 at the moment. At the start of S6 I would have definitely put BCS slightly ahead of BB mainly because I prefer the characters - Jimmy, Mike and Kim is an amazing main threesome with good support from the rest of the cast.
But I have been a bit disappointed with the first half of S6. It is still better than nearly everything else on TV at the moment but it feels a bit too over stylised at times, and the Howard plot is a bit unsatisfactory so far although I havent got to the end of it yet

I don't think I could ever agree on a joint list. If the other person didnt want to include a show like The Wire or Angel I just wouldnt be able to move past it !!

Succession is the only new one I would think of putting in a Top20.
Possibly Better Caul Saul if the second half of S6 is better than the first, and maybe Mare of Easttown if they do some more seasons rather than leaving it as a miniseries
Although I might include Community as well !

Yeah , 'Better Call Saul' is a contender . I don't know if I'd vote for it (or Breaking Bad) , mostly coz I find the subject matter quite harrowing to watch .
