Seemed to have been alot of "Top Ten ____" threads going around, so meh, why not make another 😛

So, whats your top ten favorite Fictional Characters? From TV, movies, anything. Let 'em be heard cause I wanna know : popcorn:

Ah, mine...hmmm lets see

1. Dean (Supernatural) - OMG. The greatest character to ever grace televison!! Not just my love for Jensen Ackles (although that is part of it...hmmm yummy). I love the smartass that he is, and how kind he can be! He's like the perfect guy! Now if only I could meet someone similar to him *sigh*

2. Sam (GH) - Okay, in case there's GH fans reading this (which I'm sure there are...there's quite a few here), most probably hate Sam. Not saying you all do...just on soap boards they tend to bash her ALL the time. I love her though. I have since she moved in with Jason, and the JaSam relationship made me love her even more. She was like Jason's "Ride or Die Chick...with a heart". She knew just how to kickass, and was perfect for Jason's life style. But enough about Jason, cause I love her without him. She's so flawed. She's not perfect and doesn't try to be. Unlike certain characters the writers like to make a "saint". *coughLiz&Jasoncough* This past year though they've butchered her charrie. NEVER would she stand around and watch Jake get kidnapped. She LOVES kids, plus thats Jason's kid. It's just not Sam *shrugs* Plus Kelly Monaco is amazing!

3. Anya (BtVS) - That'll probably change at some point, but as of now, I love her to bits. She's hilarious, but is more than just comedy (well later on anyway). She's different! Most reformed exdemons will be whining constantly about trying to be good and what they did in the past *coughAngelcough*. Not her though (okay kinda in season 7 but still...)! Can't explain it further...just love her!

4. Henry (Charmed) - Henry is one of the most loveable guys on TV, IMO. He's so sweet, cute, and is totally normal. He's just a regular guy, yet he accepts Paige just the way she is. He doesn't try to make her someone she's not, and certainly doesn't try to be someone he's not. He worries about Paige, but at the same time lets her do her job as a Charmed One. He knows if he tries to get involved when he shouldn't, things will only get worse. Okay, lets go back to the sweet, cute, and totally normal!

5. Willow (BtVS) - She's...Willow. She redifined the way television portrayed nerds. It's a movie cliche that nerds are the geeky guys with big glasses, braces, and checkered shirts. However, she's plenty nerdy but in a different way. Plus some of the best one liners!! From adorable ("He's no ball of sunshine!" or "A doodle. I do doodle. You do doodle too?") to very serious and kickass ("Willow doesn't live her anymore"). She's great!

6. Cole (Charmed) - I mostly mean human Cole during that very short period in season 4, but demon Cole is great too! Not as great as Henry of course, but he's up there!! He was never treated with the respect that he should've had. He loved Phoebe so much, except I don't think she loved him like he loved her. She fell out of love with him too quickly. It's like the JaSam relationship (cept I like JaSam more hehe), Cole being Sam and Phoebe being Jason. You don't fall out of love that fast! With a love like that, you just don't!

7. Giles (BtVS) - Once again...Giles is Giles!! I'm not sure I can even begin to explain on this one...I believe the "Why Giles is the best guy in the Buffyverse" thread (made by palabravampiress) summed it up nicely 😛

8. Kate (GH) - Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue why she's even on my list at all...but the sad truth is she's my current fav character of GH (yes, Sam's hire up on the list, but not CURRENTLY). She sometimes annoys me, but its a love/hate thing. She's just Kate. Can't explain 😛

9. Georgie/Maxie (GH) - Honestly, I like them both equally...wait liked, sorry. I sometimes forget that Georgie has passed 🙁 I never even started liking Maxie any at all until last year. Georgie had always been my favorite of the two for the longest time, but Maxie just cracks me up sometimes!! Like "You two seem so perfect together...I mean you've both been dumped by holier than thou jerks", reffering to Jason and Liz of course!! Priceless! And Georgie was one of the only gals with a head on her shoulders...on right! She wasn't like Carly or Lulu. She was more...normal and well dare I say it in Port Charles...nice?

10. Fred (Ats) - Once again another character that I can't really explain. There's just something about Fred that makes Angel pretty good for me (with the exception of Cordy). She makes for an interesting charrie, and I nerdy characters are great *nods*

What say you??

My top 10 'Fictional characters' without going into great detail would be these 10.

1) John Sheridan from Babylon 5
2) G'kar From Babylon 5
3) Londo Malari from Babylon 5
4) Anya from Buffy They Vampire Slayer
5) Harper from Andromeda
6) Oz from Buffy The Vampire Slayer
7) Rhade from Andromeda
8) Crichton from Farscape
9) Ford from Stargate Atlantis
10) Sisko from Deep Space Nine

The list is only those on Scifi fictional t.v. Shows 😛 or I would have had more than 10

I don't know about top 10s, but I'll try. I might go long or short. It's hard to tell.

Let's see...

1. Jo March, Little Women
Jo March is like the air I breathe. I read Little Women for the first time the summer between first and second grade. As soon as I picked up the book, I was captivated. I stayed inside in my room for an entire summer day and read that book cover to cover. Jo was and still is a woman after my own heart. In many ways, I've fashioned my real life after her fictional one. I re-read Little Women at least once yearly. That book - and Jo - are like my guiding stars. This character and this novel gave me the courage to write a few of my own. One is almost ready to send out to see if anyone will take it. One did all right in contests. The third is just beginning.

2. Stone Cates, General Hospital
I re-read Robin's Diary yearly, too. Stone's story is one of the most compelling stories I've ever seen. He is as dear to me as a real person might be. I think I've mourned his death more sincerely than I have mourned some real people. He was a brave, good kid. I learned from his mistakes so that I didn't make the same, myself. I try to learn from his loyalty, his cheerfulness, his determination, and his love, although I'm not sure I succeed. Stone's story made me fall in love with the daytime serial drama. In the right hands, it is the most powerful medium known to a writer. Because of this character's story, I want to write for soaps someday. I live in L.A. now (during the writer's strike, as luck would have it) so that I can chase this dream.

3. Woodrow Call, Lonesome Dove (and other books in the series)
This character hasn't changed my life at all. Instead, he just gets to me. I hate him. I hate him with a fiery passion. No character has the ability to make me even half as angry as Woodrow Call. I suspect that if he were real, he'd appreciate it if I were succinct on this point, so I'll only say it took too long, but I'm glad he got what he deserved.

That's all I have for now. Some friends are coming to kidnap me... in a good way. 🙂

Could call on Call, except I don't see how it's possible to prefer Woodrow over Gus.
Lets see.... I'm just gonna put a list of characters, I don't really have an order.

Willow(BtVS)
The Doctor (Dr Who)
Buffy(BtVS)
Rose (Dr Who)
Angel (BtVS and Ats)
Jack Sparrow (POTC)
Hermione(Harry Potter)
Ella (Ella Enchanted)
Faith (BtVS)
Tara(BtVS)

I like them all equally:

Willow (btvs) - in her timide geekiness, in her personality etc - she's quite similar to me, so I always felt connected to her;
A. Lucard (dracula: the series) - I just find his portrayal quite appealing;
Tru Davies (Tru calling) - I like her job! She's good too;
Esme Weatherwax (Discworld by Pratchett) - she's wise, she's strong, she's witch, she's independent, she's just the best;
Aazmandius (MYTH corporation) -- cynical, mean, greedy, smart, he's always was my most favorite character of entire MYTH "series".
Julian Luna (Kindred the Embraced) - I just love him.
Phoebe Halliwell (Charmed)
Kaylee Frye (firefly)
Maitell (Maiteru) (Galaxy Express 999)
Erik Draven (The Crow)

V
Vicariously
The crow! OMG she mentioned the Crow! HUGS TO YOU!
Hmm..I don't really know what order I want to put them in so I will just list them

Drusilla (BtVS/Ats)
Spike (BtVS/Ats)
Wesley (BtVS/Ats)
Ned (Pushing Daisies)
Piper (Charmed)
Sylar (Heroes)
Leo (Charmed)
Fred/George Weasley (Harry Potter)
Ron Weasley (Harry Potter)
Ginny Weasley (Harry Potter)

Are we talking "Ever, in all media", or "TV since 1990"? If we're talking "ever, in all media", then I gotta say, I can't believe some of the choices here. What about (in (approximate, not exact) order of appearance):

Odysseus *
Hercules *
Beowulf*
King Arthur & Merlin *
Robin Hood *
Hamlet
Romeo & Juliet
Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn
Dracula & Abraham van Helsing
Sherlock Holmes & John Watson
Christopher Syn
Long John Silver
Zorro
Superman
Batman
Conan of Cimmeria
Perry Mason
James Bond
Modesty Blaise & Willie Garvin
Silver John
James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock

Of course, Buffy Summers and Willow Rosenberg.

* These characters are sort of quasi-fictional; it's likely they existed, but their stories have long ago been exaggerated and embellished to the point where the real people have vanished into the legends.

Spirit_Of_Fred
you watch himym? did i know that? :P we should converse about that. PM me :)
Okay... I am back and ready to add to my list.

4. Iago, Othello
He's my favorite villain ever! I love how easily he manipulates everyone with the right word here or there. I love how he's just pure vice. He's just plain evil... and it's great! I could read Othello again and again, just to see him move Othello and the gang around like chess pieces. Other Shakespeare faves include Mercutio, the bawdy nurse, and Falstaff.

5. the Marquise de Merteuil, Les Liaisons Dangereuses
Are you catching on to the fact that I love villains? Well, I do. I loved the Marquise de Merteuil! She was fascinating. As she was written very much in the vein of Iago, her manipulations were cruel and cunning. I would have added the Vicomte de Valmont, her friend, enemy, and partner in crime, but she is a much stronger character than he is. Then again, he has more character growth. Ah! Now I don't know which to choose. If you like sexy, smart, sassy villains with a side of sex, read this book!

6. Becky Sharp, Vanity Fair
Becky is as conniving and cunning as they come, but she isn't evil; she's just desperate. She comes from poverty and is determined to outrun it by making a name for herself in society. Unfortunately, she never knows when to stop and the very means by which she has propelled herself into "good" society also cause her ruin. She never gives up, however, and her charms, her schemes, and her willingness to murder eventually secure wealth for herself and a baronetcy for her son. Reading about Becky Sharp is like watching a car crash; you know you should look away, but you just can't. You feel, in equal measure, both pity and revulsion.

7. Lestat de Lioncourt, Interview with the Vampire
I haven't read all of the Vampire Chronicles. Some are better than others. Lestat, however, is always a pleasure. He is truly the "brat prince" the others make him out to be, and that is sooo refreshing after dealing with Louis' constant brooding. I love Lestat for his vanity, his pride, his hedonistic pursuit of every possible vice, his penchant for philosophizing, the fact that I never know what he's going to do next, his apparent attention deficit disorder, and especially for his boldness. Anyone who can stand up to beings he thinks of as God and the Devil wins my vote in the "he's got spunk" contest. lol. It was hard for me to choose between Lestat and Claudia, whom I believe also deserves special notice as another incredibly interesting character.

8. Spike, BtVS/AtS
Everyone already knows I have a writer crush on Spike. Everyone also knows why.

I don't think I can think of a 9 and a 10 to include here. I love Tess of the D'Urbervilles, for instance, but neither Tess nor her two men capture my imagination like the characters I've mentioned here. I love Pride and Prejudice, but Lizzy and Darcy just aren't as colorful. They're very believable and wonderful in their own ways, yes, but not as exciting. I love Scarlet O'Hara and Hannibal Lecter. Okay. Maybe those are my 9 and 10. Maybe I'll come back and explain why I love them so much at some later date.

I read the part of Iago when we did it in class and then I watched the episode Earshot and Buffy is studying that in class.

no giles?!?! gasp! :P
i don't know if i can come up with ten, let's find out.

Spike, BTVS: is anyone really surprised by this? lol

Anita Blake, Anita Blake: I love her character. she's changed so much since the first book, when she hated vampires with a passion. i can't wait to see where LKH takes her in the next book.

Nathaniel, Anita Blake: my favorite of Anita's men. he's so sweet and really tries his hardest to change and to fit in with Anita's lifestyle, until one day he realizes he doesn't have to change. he already fits.

River Tam, Serenity/Firefly: She's such a complex character and i really wish we'd been given more time to see her character develop.

Lawrie, Little Women: i don't know why i like him, i just do. he was so in love with Jo for so long, or at least he thought he was. i liked the fact that he married Amy in the end. they were better suited, i thought.

Connor, Angel: yes, i liked the boy. he was so tortured and confused, he didn't know who to trust, and rather than follow his own instincts, he followed Holtz's and ended up ruining his relationship with his real father, almost for good.

Tru Davies, Tru Calling: She didn' understand her gift at first and wanted to 'return' it. but after Jack arrived, she realized she was needed in the world, if only to stop Jack from winning.

Karma for the Dean-lover!
I don't really feel like thinking too much so this is the fun list in no particular order...

TV series:
Spike
Faith
Angel
Oz

Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)

Harry Potter:
The Weasleys (with a slight preference for Fred and George, followed closely by Ron)

Final Fantasy:
Vivi Orunitia (Final Fantasy IX, he's so cute and yet so philosophical at age 9!)
Moogles and Chocobos! (Final fantasy series)
Squall Leonheart (FFVIII, The Angel of the Final Fantasy series XD)

I don't think I have an order so i'll just throw a few names out there..

Scarlett O' Hara - It is impossible to watch Gone with the Wind and not adore this woman. She is coniving and selfless, unbeliveably brave and cowadly. She is a walking contradiction. She wants you to think that she is above caring about anything but herself but in reality she has the biggest heart of anyone.

Buffy Anne Summers - The fact that you are all here lets me know that this lady doesn't need any explanation.

Pacey Witter - Laugh all you want but this guy is possibly the cutest tv character ever! he is an absolute dote, he just makes ya smile.

Angelus - God knows I love Angel but Angelus has that certain je ne sais quoi...the man lights up the screen.

Radio Roy - I'm failry sure no one but Buffy Summers (the bosslady🙂) know's who this is but personally I think he is one of the funniest characters ever. 'Haahahaha...haalll credit tooo the gaffer'!LMAO!!

Karma for Scarlett O' Hara nad x snaps x for pacey!
1- Xander Harris (Buffy the Vampire Slayer): I have never seen such a human character before. This character is just full of flaws, flaws that are very human and relatable, yet he's also brave, loyal and kind. Such mixture of qualities that makes him more real than any BtVS character.

2- Lynette Scavo (Desperated Housewives): This character is also the most normal and human among the other wives on the show. Her struggles, flaws, kindness as well as strong personality is what makes her great.

3- Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls): Ain't she the coolest mother? She's surely the most interesting character on the show, who's not like a cartoon character.

4- Jo March (Little Women): I have to agree that Jo was one of the most interesting female characters of the book's time.

5- Michael Henchard: Another flawed, very flawed, character, who still got good qualities. Characters like that are the ones I enjoy because they feel real. Good guys who make mistakes.

OMG I LOVE JO!!! She was my favorite character in Little Women though I must say I far more appreciated the book.
hmmm........

I want to have two lists...one for TV and the second for Movies

so

TV.

1. Buffy Summers (I guess this can double as a movie but I put it here)
2. Angel
3. Peter Griffin (Family Guy)
4. Stewie Griffin (Family Guy)
5. Brian the Dog (Family Guy)
6. Homer Simpson
7. Bender (futureramma)
8. Leela (Futureramma)
9.) Fry (Futureramma)
10.) Al Bundy (Married with Children)

Movies

1.) Batman (Thanks to DC comics for giving us both TV and Movies. The Best villians and Super Heroes EVER!!!)
2.) Louie (Interview with a Vampire...thanks ANNE RICE FOR YOU BOOKS!!)
3.) Lestat (Interview with a vampire)
4.) Shrek
5.) Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
6.) Cher (Clueless)
7.) Forrest Gump
8.) Yoda (Star Wars)
9.) Mr. Incrediable (the Incrediables)
10.) Satine (Mouline Rouge)

I'm sorry I cant not do it...I need to add 11 and 12 to the movie list

11.) edward Scissorhands
12.) Beetlejuice

Good idea for a thread, its always interesting to see why people are drawn to certain characters.

My lists do tend to change given on what I have been watching as when I watch something I tend to get engrossed in it, however there are a few that will always be in there.

1. Eric Draven (The Crow) - Why? Because it shows what an ordinary man can be driven to. He was a man that lived his life and loved those in it, so when all that was taken away not only was he angry and to an extent lost he wanted revenge. Written, drawn and also acted in a beautiful manner it is just so haunting. Of course when I say 'acted' i'm referring only to the original movie and not that crappy two bit tv show that just ruined the Eric and Shelly story.

2. Veronica Mars - That sassy little marshmallow. So many things I just love about this character. She is a strong female who fights for those and what she believes in and no matter what she goes through (and its quite a bit) she does not once stop to think 'why me' she just gets on with it. Also I love the relationship she has with her father, without a doubt the best father/daughter relationship written on tv.

3. Pippin (Lotr) - My gran used to read me the books when I was little and Pip used to remind me so much of myself, even when casting and acting for the film version it still reminded me of myself.

4. Dexter Morgan - Yes he's technically a killer (ok so no technically about it). But I just love this guy both in book and tv version. His 'code' the way he deals with what he does, and the relationships he has with those around him. If he were real I would definatly love to meet him (although not when he is in his 'dark passenger' mode).

5. Tommy Murphy - From Murphy's Law. I've been watching these for a while now and its a shame that they are only on in short bursts as he rocks. Northern Irish undercover hardman with a dark side. Its one of those things that sounds weird but to watch him as he does what he does, I just love him.

6. John Rebus - From Ian Rankin's Rebus novels. An old fashioned policeman from days gone by, Rebus does things his way even if that means work with a hangover, beating up suspects and pretty much doing everything he is not supposed to. These books have been going a long time and have been on tv with John Hannah as Rebus however he was too young. Kenn Stott makes a good Rebus but I don't like how ITV have basically chopped and changed bits of his past and the script, if it aint broke don't fix it!

Those are all I can really think of for now and i'm meant to be doing something else 😉
