Here's a partial list of mine:

1. Gregory House,"House M.D.": A smart doc,burdened by a bum leg...who has to pop pain pills like candy to be able to function...combined with being surrounded by people on the job yet being all by his lonesome when it comes to letting people into his inner circle...what's NOT to love? And the fact that Hugh Laurie fits this role like a glove only makes it better.

2. Robert McCall,"The Equalizer": Wouldn't we all want a person like this,able and ready to help us out if we're in a jam? Robert,like House,is just as emotionally complex-trying to get away from his past(which he isn't too fond of)by doing good deeds for people who are up against it. He can be as sympathetic or as ruthless as necessary-and you root for him either way.

3. Doctor Who: Through 10 incarnations(and counting),he's never lost his sense of adventure. Each actor has brought his own qualities to the role,and each of them sees the character a bit differently(Eccleston and Tennant have made him a bit darker,to be honest-but it's based on what he's been through since we last saw him in the mid 90s with that aborted effort on Fox's part to bring back the Doc for a U.S. audience).

(No particular order by the way. Just as they came to mind)

Joyce Summers
Bet you all coulda guessed this one anyway. Haha. Basically I just fell in love with this character (In a totally platonic way, haha) from Welcome to the Hellmouth. I think it was the fact that she mentioned a gallery. Always been an Art History geek- as some of you know- so I just immediately went 'Ooh, she's into art?'. And the more she was in the series, the more I liked her- especially when she was beating a zombie with a baseball bat, teehee. I enjoyed her character and found myself relating to her quite a lot(and now that I'm preparing myself for the Mother role I find myself relating to her even more). As Jane Espenson put it 'Joyce has been an increasing source of joy'

Mia Thermopolis (Princess Diaries the book, NOT the crappy Disney movie!!)
Yes, she's from a book technically meant for teenagers but Meg Cabot is such a genius that she's drawing us adults in also. Haha. I love Mia; she kicks butt in a way that Buffy never did. I.e this is non physical superstrength. Plus Mia's funny, has to deal with the Grandmother from hell, and cares about the environment. A girl who has a 'Save the Whales' badge and wants to join Greenpeace will always have a place in my TV heart.

Helen Thermopolis
Mia's Mom. Another arty Mom I liked. It's the art thing; it's my weakness, hehe. But I thought she was casually cool. Plus she reminds me of my own Mom; quirky, artistic, a little all over the place in a 'really? It's PTN tonight? I though that was next month' way. And just when you thought Helen was flaky she goes and blasts Mia's evil Grandmere in a way no one else dares. Helen Thermopolis just rocks. Plain and simple.

Buffy Summers
Do I have to explain this one? Really? The girl is cute, small, blonde, with a wicked fashion sense and has the ability to kick the butts of things five times bigger than her. Plus she had hot sex with Angel, Riley (yes I'm counting him!!!) and Spike. Anyone who doesn't wish to be Buffy at some point is certifiably insane. Cart them away, now.

Erin Sun (Farscape)
Another kicking butt gal. I used to be addicted to this show and just thought she was amazingly kick ass. Plus she got to smooch Crichton which made me wicked jealous.

Dominar Rygel XVI (Farscape)
He was just FUNNY. I loved him to bits. He was like the alien version of a cranky old man. Plus his erm...gases were helium. Hahaha. See thinking of him just makes me laugh. That's all I have to say.

Elizabeth (Pride and Prejudice)
My favorite heroine from a 19th Century novel. I mean how ahead of her time was this girl? Though I do scream 'Darcy!!!!' at her quite a lot in my head whenever I'm reading the book. Otherwise I love her. She's entirely independent (As much as she could be for the day anyway) and I admired her the moment I read it when I was only a wee 13 years old. Aaaah. 🙂

Molly Weasley (Harry Potter)
Molly subtly kicks ass and she's just fantastic. Motherly in a loving way but you know will box the twins ears if they're too cheeky. I just love her. Plus her demeanor can completely change when someone she loves is in danger; she goes into Military Mom Witch Mode. And she took Harry in as much as possible and loved him like a son etc. Plus, she's just DAMN funny. I absolutely loved it when Julie Walters played her when the movies came out. Julie is just a fantastic actress and she played Molly just how I always imagined her.

Salem Saberhagen (Sabrina)
Come on, who DIDN'T want a cat like Salem? He was just freakin' amazing and greatly hilarious. Heck, the cat ruled the show in my opinion. And just the expressions they managed to make him do...plus Nick Bakay did a wonderful job voicing him.

Zelda Spellman (Sabrina)
While everyone else's favorite aunt was Hilda, mine was Zelda. (Yes, it was technically a children's show and I was watching it at age 16....hated the College Years though. Immediately stopped watching then). She made intelligent look, well still geeky, but in a cool way. If ya get me? Which was nice to see. I mean sometimes I really wanted her to loosen up but otherwise, she was great.

This is a really hard one as different characters have meant so much to me at different times of my life and so my list of favourite characters is quite large.

I might have to split into 3 lists, as I want movies, tv and books! lol

Instead I'll see how I get on with my list and if it develops into an essay I'll sub-catergorise it.

Faith Lehane (BtVS) - I loved the bad girl image and how she changed throughout the show.

Tru Davies (Tru Calling)

Piper Halliwell (Charmed) - I just love her! Can't explain it!!!

Kate Austen (Lost)

Jack Shepherd (Lost)

James Sawyer (Lost) - I love these three characters from Lost because they've been through so much but ultimately just want to do the right thing. I love how Jack is permanently tortured. Sawyer is trying to protect people and Kate is just stuck in the middle, occasionally kicking some ass!

Michael Scofield (Prison Break) - Drool... love the concept of the character. He is very intellegent and at the same time sooooooo fit!!!! Great combination.

Claire Bennett (Heroes) - I really like Claire not sure why!

Ryan Atwood (The OC)

Christina Nickson (Point Pleasant) - Seriously creepy!

Ron Weasley (Harry Potter) - I'm re-reading the books and most of the best one liners come from Ron. He's ace.

Mrs Weasley (Harry Potter) - I would never of imagined her to be so funny and also to kick ass as much as she did in the final book!

Becky Bloomwood (Shopaholic series - Sophie Kinsella) - Every woman has a bit of Becky Bloomwood in her... most of us keep it under control... not Becky though! Seriously love her.

Dr Tempe Brenan (From the Kathy Reichs books not Bones) - I started reading the books after realising they were about the same woman who was Bones. Surprisingly I found I preferred the Tempe in the books to the Tempe in the TV programme.

Well I can't think of any other characters that I love, although I'm sure more will come to me later! lol

Oh God, 10!!!!!

Okay here it goes.

1) Scarlett O'Hara- Gone with the Wind. I am her. I don't even mean I want to be like her... my family have nicknamed me Scarlett even since i was old enough to walk and talk, and I read the book at about 13 because I finally asked why they nicknamed me that... and I fell in love with her as a character, cuz even though she has all these bad points, I really dont see them as bad- whats wrong with being a strong-minded woman that will do whatever it takes??? [Also, i realise i sound like Kennedy when I say that, but its an unfortunate coincidence that i dont want to be referred to again cuz i hate her!]

2)Spike- BTVS. I think the character is absolute genius. You all know its true.

3) Achilles- The Illiad. I just love mythology like that.

4) Rizzo- Grease. Strong-minded woman. Also a little bit of a slag... I can relate.

5)Jack Sparrow- POTC. He's fit, he's funny, he's camp yet straight, he's a pirate and he wears eye makeup- what more could I want in a man!!

6)Rogue- Xmen COMICS! I have to make this clear that Rogue in the movie disappointed me ALOT. In the comics and the original cartoon she was strong, and fearless, and absolutely kick-ass.

7)Wonderwoman. I tend to choose strong female characters, don't I?!

8)Scout- To Kill a Mockingbird. I love the view she takes on the world and the things she says in the book- she entertains and educates me. Its seeing through the eyes of a child.

9)The Undertaker- WWE Wrestling. I figure they're fictional characters of a sort, and I love the whole macabre thing with the Undertaker, he's been playing the character for years brilliantly.

10) Nosferatu. The best goddamn vampire ever.
