So we had a thread on cartoons and I thought it would be good to have a toy thread.
This thread will definitely define age groups, lol.

Here's my list:
Mr. Potato Head
Slinky (bet the song is now in some people's heads)
Silly putty
Lite Brite
Hot Wheels
GI Joe with velcro hair and kung-fu grip
Super Ball
Clue
Ker plunk

Now it's everyone else's turn, have fun.

I wasn't really a toy person I tended to read more books. Mum always got me dolls which ended up headless, I was more happy with my brothers swords, guns, bow & arrows and his gutty just like Dennis The Menis had.

This gives a great picture of my youth, climbing a tree with my gutty in the back pocket of my dungarees.

I was a toy person, not a hardcore collector or anything, but...

Hot Wheels, fer sure.
Legos, Lincoln logs, etc.
Red Rider BB gun, air rifles, other non-PC toys...
Big Wheel, skate board, minibike

Action figures...
Marvel superheroes
Star Wars characters

My favs was this multicoloured soft toy rabbit
and this doll that was based on a nursary rhyme, a bean doll actually, i called Tango! lol.

TAMAGOTCHIS. omfg, Giga Pets. d00d, you SO don't even know. I still have one. ...I should probably check if it's alive.

That's, actually, the only thing I can think of. Beanie Babies? I had a crapload of those. I wasn't really a boardgame kinda kid. I had a crapload of Barbies that ended up getting their hair cut off and sitting at the bottom of my box with no clothes on. NAKED BARBIES FTW.

I loved Hungry Hungry Hippos 🙂 And I had Mouse Trap the board game - (wasn't this turned into a kids TV Show on ITV)

Ker plunk was another of my faves (I know, already said)

I'm still thinking of others. I remember one toy I had but I can't remember what it was called and I can't describe it...so I'm off to browse the Internet to see if I can find it 🙂

nothing wrong with repeating
I had Barbies. Way too many. I still have them all, but my mother threw away all their clothes years ago for no reason.

I used to be seriously obsessed with those Arthur computer games when I was like 7 or so. They seem so lame now... but I love them.

Uhh... lot of cartoon character themed stuffed animals. I still collect them. I have about two of every character from Blue's Clues.

Im an only child, so i had EVERY Barbie made.. every doll... our basement was turned into a play house for me and my friends with dressing room, baby room, kitchen, laundry room, tea room etc...

I never had a pogo stick or walkie talkies tho... aren't those mandatory childhood toys?

Alot of these are still around or have been re-invented in some form or another.

For my daughter's first birthday she was given a Gloworm (remember those?) and a Cabbage Patch Doll.

My niece has a Lite Brite. With SHREK paper refill patterns.

And I actually collect Tamagotchis...have been since 1996, I have quite a collection so if anyone has their tamas lying around ... send them on my way! 😀

Ooh I shouldn't be doing this...this could produce a serious "jackass" event, but:

Tennis ball cannons (don't try this at home)
http://www.teamdandy.com/projects/cc73/

Also, my brother and I used to have bottle rocket fights. We'd shoot them at each other and use trash can covers as shields. My evil, bad influency big brother...

I still have my Tamagotchi. I am not sure where it is though. I'll have to find it and have a little go on it for old times sake. Hehe. I love doing things that I used to do when I was little. It brings back the memories, hehe.

I used to have a space hopper, mouse trap, beanie babies, barbies and polly pockets.

I left this one off to see if anyone else would mention it because well it will show how old the person would be...spirograph! For some reason I started to like this toy more when I was in my teens and feeling that teen spirit.

I was quite happy with marbles... and these round thing that you pile up.. we called them pogs here... and also these slimy / squishy thing that you were just supposed to be disgusted with and stick on the walls and they'd leave marks... hehe... and oh... cards... big time... it's amazing the number of games you can play with a set of cards! hehe

Im an only child, so i had EVERY Barbie made..
Lol. I'm an only child too. I had one Barbie, that my mom finally gave me after months of me playing with Barbies at my friends' houses. (My best friend had like 30 and Barbie house/car/horse, etc.)

I was more into, like.. Well we used to pretend we were kids living on our own out in the woods, running away from our mean parents (my real parents weren't mean at all but hey).. Pretending we lived 100 years ago.. played school.. um. Yeah.

Honestly though, I guess I just read most of the time.. I didn't have that much stuff, and I wasn't into things the way I am now (maybe that's why I'm so materialistic now lol)..

I had lots and lots of Barbies and a Cabbage Patch Kid. I didn't have but played with Hot Wheels cars and GI Joe dolls (the only way I could get my older brother to play with me). I also had a Furby (still have it but ain't seen it in a long while!).

Lol, I love these threads.
The bulk of my toy collection consisted of action figures. I wasn't much of a board games type of kid. Like many of my generation I rode around on a BIG WHEEL, played with Hot Wheels and Slinky, some synthetic goo called Slime...with plastic eyeballs or rubber worms in it....but mainly it was action figure stuff such as:

ACTION JACKSON

GI JOE, 12" 1970's version

One of a variety of BIG JIM action toys...

THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN

One of a variety of EVEL KNIEVEL toys...

ROCK EM SOCK EM ROBOTS

I had a whole bunch of these MEGO SUPERHEROES Action Figures

Man, those take me back.
