You make a good point GB! I assumed that time was rewound back to when Cordy made the wish so that she didnt actualy die.

But a couple problems with this. If that happened, How could vamp Willow still exist. Both realities would have to exist. Therefore Cordy should be dead. Hmm.

Also The wish was for Buffy to never have come to Sunnydale in the first place. So if it rewound to right itself, it would have to rewind way back to before season one started to make sure Buffy came to Sunnydale.

Ok, now Im just confusing myself. I know what I mean. I think!

OK, what if it's something like this: Cordy's wish didn't actually create a new reality, it merely opened a window between realities.

There actually always was a parallel reality in which Buffy never came to Sunnydale. Cordy was transported to that nasty reality...and all the events unfolded there, such as they did. The necklace was destroyed in that reality which somehow rewound our reality back to the point at which Cordy was about to make a wish. That other reality continues to exist, parallel to ours.

Then the question arises, did "our" Cordy somehow replace the Cordy that would have already existed in the other reality? Did they switch places? Hmm.

Hmmm, reading your post Goldenboy, i wonder a spin off?
What if our Willow was to get some kind of device, and combine it with say an amulet that Anya and co use. Willow eager to impress her College Physics professor takes him along with her friend, Xander to the basement. They plan to 'slide'(off the top of my head, call it what you will) to different parallel universes but on the initial jump its something else happens causing a 'crying man' to be sucked in too. Well i see potential, i mean three years down theline, Willow, Xander and the Prof have all been lost to something and the 'Crying Man' is the lead character now.
I know, its quite original, but it could work...LOL

But seriously, i think that Anya, though powerful as the Vengeance Demon was, was not able to create parallel worlds or anything, as its a basic scientific theoretical principle that alternate realities exist, we just need to find a way to get there...Maybe D'Hoffryn 'has found the gateway'....hehehe

Hey, sounds like that old show, "Sliders" (which I never saw). Hopping to different realities each week. OK. Willow and Xands, and Crying Man...and since this is all about different realities and wish fulfillment...how about they bump into a version of Fred? She's the theoretical physicist who was trapped in another dimension. And the 3 Nerds. They messed around with time travel. It would just be a giant nerdfest. Starting to sound sort of Trekkish somehow...

Drained by Darla doesn't count because Liam was drained by Darla, not Angel.
 
I dont think whoever came up with the original question was being specific.

But I forgot Illyria killed him.

She did try it, right after Tara died, but because it was a natural death she wasn't able to bring her back.


Could the other vamp with a soul be Buffy in - is it Nightmares? - when her dream comes "true" that she becomes a vampire?
 
But she didnt have a soul then. She was turned into a vampire so her soul would be gone.
 
That was a weird one, cos Buffy didn't behave like a typical vamp. She seemed...upset about it, lol. Most new vamps act really vampy, nasty. It was like a weird fantasy...she was still very Buffy, just looked like a vamp.
 
But she was starting to become more vamp like. She said herself theyd better hurry cos she was getting hungry. So given a bit more time she,d be a regular vampire.(except with slayer power too)
 
Yeah, that's true. I guess she was an unusually self-aware vamp, being a Slayer and all.

It's interesting that the writers made all the mains becoming vamps"”William, Liam, Buffy...a more confusing, ambiguous state of being, at first.

So often, a generic vamp would crawl out of a grave, mindlessly fierce and cranky and ravenous, and Buffy would dust them seconds later, lol...

It was just a suggestion but just to take it a bit further - Spike and Angel get hungry too, and they have souls. It's not like they're don't drink blood lol 😉
 
Liam getting drained by Darla does count for the ways that Angel died. To say it doesn't is reminesence of Angel's team in season four saying Angel doesn't remember the Beast because his and Angelus's minds are separate. They're all one. You might as well be telling Angel that he shouldn't redeem himself for all the horrible things Angelus did.
 
A lot of fanfic authors use the mythology that a "turned" slayer retains their soul. Now I'm not sure where that came from - but it's a pretty popular theory. 😀
 
That may be true, but in the Buffy book, Tempted Champions, a slayer-turned-vampire did not retain her soul. Btw, good book.
