OMGosh

This film came out this week and I treated myself to a viewing last night.

All I will say is it is the funniest film I have seen at the cinema in YEARS.




ohhh who am I kidding, thats not all I am gonna say.

From the films opening 'trailers'(I REALLY WANNA SEE SATANS ALLEY) at which I was almost bursting with fits of laughter to the fantastic Platoon bit at the end.

Jack Black was severly under used BUT had the single greatest line in the movie - who likes gravy?

I swear my seat was wet from peeing myself at that bit.

I urge you ALL to see this movie.

Special note has to go to Robert Downey Jr. I have always been a fan but this is DEFINITELY the year of the RDJ. Seriously, Ironman then this - the guy is an absolute LEGEND!!!

I saw it at the Midnight opening here in the States and I have to say it is definitely one of the funniest films I have seen all year. I was cracking up the whole time. My favorite character had to be Kevin Sandusky (Jay Baruchel) I actually thought he had quite a significant part and he was the guy who kept everyone together. His interactions with the main characters were hilarious.

All I have left to say is Booty Sweat, Peace.

I would LOVE to see this take on the trilogy.

I know I know the premise couldn't work again, probably - or at least thats what people will say.

I say PISH.

This group of actors worked REALLY well together and it would be so cool if they did a 'follow up' movie where all the characters taken on a different genre.

I mean Hollywood is so rife with cliche that Ben and co could write 10 films and still only deal with a small portion.

I would like to next see a Tropic Thunder Horror and a Tropic Thunder Superhero film.

Yay! I just love it when other people praise my Downey 🙂 Yes, he is mine, shhh, don't tell his wife, she seems like a perfectly nice woman 😛 He IS a legend, brilliantly talented, he so deserves all the awesome things that are happening to him right now. I haven't seen the movie yet b/c none of my friends were all too intersted in it and i have a weird thing about going to the movies by myself but as soon as its out on DVD its mine, it'll sit pretty on the shelf with all the rest of my Downey films 🙂

Yep I saw this movie a couple of weeks ago, the cinema was absolutly chockers, and its the first time in a long time that ive been to the movies and the audience actually clapped at the end. I liked all the fake trailers at the beginning, ha ha I couldnt believe how slow some people in the cinema were, they didnt get that they were fake adds, and had alot of trouble recognising Tom Cruise. I always love Robert Downey Jr, even though his aussie accent is a bit off, lol. It was so much better than Ben Stillers last effort, The Heartbreak Kid, now that was pathetic!.

I watched this movie again today.

I loved it for a second time, but I gotta say I disagree with you.

On FIRST viewing I would have agreed but on reflection and with the help of knowing what gags were coming, I think that three others are in line for stealing the movie.

The Pyro guy, Baruchel and Nolte.

These three guys are flipping hilarious.

It's actually really good satire. I don't watch those stupid satire movies, like Scary Movie or Meet the Spartans, but this one made fun of Hollywood culture and actors in general, not any one genre (though it obviously focused on war movies). There was a lot of satire of method actors and actors who take themselves way too seriously. It was hilarious.

My friend who is an absolute film buff came with me and loved it.

Though she said she did hate one aspect.

She hated the fact Tropic Thunder made start to like, and I quote 'that nutjob Tom Cruise'.

so I know it's an unpopular opinion, but i really didn't like it all, which is a shame, because I had such high hopes going in to it 🙁 it was far too much like a ridiculous toilet-humour movie, rather than a satire and ew way too much blood. But that's just IMO 😀

some bits were funny on their own, Tom Cruise's dance at the end was (disturbingly) hilarious 😀

Hello mr Book, I just wanted to say I am going to judge you by your pesky cover.

OK, granted this sarcastic comment isn't going to make you want to watch the movie anymore, but I would recommend you do watch it IF you get a chance.

Well ovbiously your opinion counts and all, but as you can see we disagree.

I do feel that I have to point out that the 'blood' this is a direct comment on War movies. I don't think it is fair to pass that kind of comment. I mean you don't say Scary Movie is silly because it has a killer in it - you say its silly because it is crap, lol.

Yeah toilet humour (while I do agree there was some I think it is far from a 'toilet humour movie - in fact the biggest scene dedicated to that is The Fatties and that was a direct piss take of Eddie Murphy movies) played a part but this film was far more than that.

It really did question Hollywood quite well and the jokes were definitely better than the likes of Scary Movie.
