Okay, I've been thinking about this.SPOILER-- I know Jack is suppose to like keep Harrison dead in the season finale, and that he is like death. But isn't Tru/Jack a nice ship? I would like to know more about Jack though, which I thought was nice to see how he was in last week's episode, "Rear Window." SPOILER-- They are suppose to be like sworn enemies I hear ....pity, they would nice.

This thought came to me in a dream I had of the season finale (which was a great episode my mind created!!!)....how wierd is that?

Sorry for the spoilers in this!!!

Jason Priestley is far too old to play Eliza Dushku's love interest. Eliza's just a kid. The idea of them together is just gross.

In future please use the spoilers section to post these threads. That way only those that want to know what happens will read it.

not that weird!

Hey! I'm new to the list. This is my first post. Big Tru Calling fan. When I first saw that they were bringing Jack on the show my thought was "Oh, 'cause she needs a new love interest". Man, was I off the mark. The weird thing is I had a dream about Tru calling too....only my mind wasn't as creative.

In her interview with Craig Killborn I think, Eliza says she thought Jason was going to be a love interest, but that the writers had other ideas and now they had to "hook her up with something". If the show gets a chance to play out over the course of a few seasons, I think we will probably see some romance between Jack and Tru. I would predict this creeping in somewhere around 3rd season, maybe near the end. At the moment, Tru doesn't like Jack very much and I think season 2 (if there is one) will feature a lot of back and forth between the two of them, as well as more revelations and understanding of the calling and why Jack does what he does. Until that is out of the way, I don't think there is room for any love between Jack and Tru. I think he likes her, but is disappointed about who she is, and she hates him for how she perceives him. This murk is kind of necessary to the series and storyline at this point, but until it is (slowly) cleared up, I think romance is out of the question.

Yes. Perhaps it may turn out to be another spuffy....but not as wierd.

BTW-I love spuffy just for the record, but it is very weird.

Tru and Jack? They wouldn't make a good pair..they're complete opposites..plus Jack is too old for Tru.

In response to the age thing: we have no idea how old Jack is, only how old Jason Priestly is. I mean, James Marsters is forty-something. Besides, since when does the actors actual age have anything to do with the age he/she's cast as? In the world of TV production, time is malleable.

On another note, do we really know the story behind Tru's parents? I mean, yeah, her dad had her mom murdered, but there may have been real love there before things fell apart. Stuff like that happens enough in real life--as evidenced by the fifty percent divorce rate in the US. Maybe her dad was drawn to her mom because she was the only one who was like him, but then it didn't work out. The same thing could happen with Tru.

It also works with the whole opposites attract theory. I mean life/death--you can't get much more opposite than that.

Exactly!

Plus, there is only really a 7,8, MAYBE 9 year difference (Jack was "pushing 30"), thats not crazy old.

I'm not sure things were the same with Tru's mom and dad when they got married. It's not clear at all where the calling came from or how it works, so it's possible that it is inherited, and we know it can be passed on. Maybe things didn't really catch up with Tru's parents (trying desperately not to spoil) until after they'd had the kids. Anyway, I don't think a relationship between Jack and Tru is entirely implausible, but it can't/won't happen until Tru gains a better understanding of Jack, and I don't think such a thing is on tap for the next 10-20 episodes. There may eventually be some love/hate going on, and I think that would be fun to see.

Also, maybe Tru likes older guys? The professor was older. The fireman was probably older. It's hard to say about Luc, but I could see him being at least a couple years older than her.

Tru & Jack?

Tru and Jack should definitely NOT hook up. I didn't watch Buffy too much, but didn't they already try that with Buffy and Angel? I love the show just the way the characters are now, I'm just waiting to get into the history of Tru and her powers. They already have one love story between "Life/Death" concerning Tru's parents, we don't need another one.

I agree Tru and Jack wouldn't make a good couple at all for so many reasons... One they are totally differnet and two he is far to old for her.. and after the season finale i dont think it will ever happen...

Though Angel was quite a bit (253 years) older than Buffy, and turned evil, the enemies-to-lovers transition that would have to take place for Tru and Jack to get together is a lot closer to the Spike/Buffy (or "spuffy") matchup in seasons five through seven.

As for the plausability of a match--What is the plausability of a girl reliving days to save people's lives? In television, anything can be plausible if the writing is good. A forced relationship just to boost ratings could be disasterous for the show, but a well thought out, well written love/hate romance in a few seasons, after we've gotton to know the characters--hey, it could work.

(who would have thought of putting Angel and Cordy together when Buffy first started?)

I still think it will happen eventually UNLESS we find out something that precludes it (like that Jack and Tru are related)

Thats *just* what I was thinking. If the whole thing is genetic, than Jack could very well be Tru's brother.

There's been speculation on other boards to that effect (probably step-bro/sis). That would still provide for an intriguing love/hate thing between the two of them, just in a different way. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go that route rather than a relationship, but I suspect we'll see Tru hate Jack a little less once she understands him better, regardless of their "situation". Let's hope the writers are as on top of the possibilities as the fans are 😉

hmmmmmmmm

Well, the age thing i guess thinking about buffy & angel and buffy & spike it doesnt really matter. but it would not be a good idea as far as story line is concerned right now. its too early. But i am sooo interested in seeing or finding out where these "gifts" have come from and how. why jack know her father so on and so forth. the way they turned the season with jack and ended it, well it would be a shame not to move on in sept.

PS SAVE ANGEL!!!!!!

I am desperately hoping they will address that, as it should give the show a whole lot more substance and depth. What the calling is, where it comes from, how and why it passes on, etc. I read a thing that pointed out how Tru never really stops to wonder about her gift and why it happens or what is really going on - she just accepts it and deals with the results. Because Fox has a weird schedule and because it hasn't been renewed yet, TC may not return for the fall until as late as November. If they were already renewed, they could be shooting new episodes. Since it won't be official until the 20th (less than a week, yay!), they probably won't start filming again until June or July. That would make it really hard to get more than just an episode or two done in time for an early fall second season. I personally think Tru Calling would do great paired up with The O.C. (like O.C. first, then Tru Calling) on whichever night. It's kind of the same demographic but not really the same type of show (why you wouldn't put TC and 24 together - both somewhat intense puzzle solving race-against-the-clock type show).

Hehe, that got off topic, but I too hope we get another season so that we can see how things develop between Jack and Tru, now that they have made their positions clear. It would suck for it to end here - we'd never know 🙁
