viewed without any of the mythology, yes i agree. Its a shame the producers took so long to develop the show... but at the same time the ratings wern't bad and I think FOX is yet again to blame. The mythology behind the show started half way though S1 (this is fairly normal for a new show) and this is where the depth of the show came from... or would have come from if it were given a chance.

This is the point where they saw a decline in numbers... do you want to know how FOX handles this situation EVERY SINGLE TIME IT HAPPENS? They cut advertising budget and try to reclaim money...they dont see the big picture and their epic failures in this respect are VERY well documented. Looking at DVD and now BluRay sales of Firefly is enough to show just how UTERLY STUPID fox is. Every other station seemingly manages to understand this balance.

well that link i gave on page 1 helps a little, there are some other interviews as well (check wiki) that help.

But yea, that final episode really starts to show everything coming together and we dont get to see any of it

Meredith left mid-way through season one.

Lindsey got married in the season one finale, and went to Europe.
 
I'm in the process of watching Tru Calling and have just watched episode 11. I'm really enjoying it and as they say, so far so good. It's a shame that Fox had to do it's usual thing and cancel the show - the people in charge there must have a screw loose -- what with the amount of shows they've canned.

Of the 11 episodes I've seen so far "The Longest Day" has to be my favourite (for now), with "Murder In The Morgue" a close second, and I'm really looking forward to watching the rest of S1 and the 6 episodes of S2.
 
I really liked the show. A bit repetitive though. I can't remember most of it now, it's been a while, but I think a stronger overall plot would have gone down well. It made you think it wasn't an ongoing series. Just a lot of random episodes that were quite similar.
 
I think that the problem was they didn't give the show enough time to develop and become more deeper. And therefore less repetitive.

I mean take a look....Tru's dad evil. We never got to see anymore of that and it was bound to have been awesome given the chance.

Tru allowing Jack into the house on Christmas.

I'm sure the people who cancel these things are completely bannanas. It's just as profound as Dark Angel's canccellation. :fighting1

Tru Calling had a great premise, unlike anything else on TV at the time (although there were resemblances to other shows), and most episodes were interesting and mysterious. Everything fell into place on Tru Calling apart from the fact that it was on Fox - which seems to be a curse for so many potentially good shows.

I don't understand how so many bad shows manage to last so long while the few good ones that get on the air don't last much more than a season. Tru Calling joins the ranks of some of the best shows that never got a fair chance.

In the years to come when more and more people discover these hidden gems, they will wonder why some of the best TV from 99-04 got the axe while other shows that nobody will even be talking about got season after season.

Perhaps the reason that Tru Calling didn't last so long is that it was too smart for the average viewer -- it helps when you think about it when you're watching it and perhaps the average viewer really didn't want to think in depth about the show.

Tru Calling is not the pop song that so many other shows are, it is an opera filled with all sorts of layers. Tru Calling had such a good set up and did not get the chance follow through on its potential. There were so many amazing stories that they could have told if given the chance.

It's too bad nobody could go back in time and save Tru Calling.

Some random Tru Calling trivia:

After renewing it for a second season, Fox rolled back the episode order from 13 to 6 on the week of filming the 6th episode. On the last day of filming, the cast and crew were told that the show had been cancelled.

Eliza Dushku turned down an offer to star in a spin-off series based on Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer in favour of doing this series.

The show was cancelled by Fox, who thought that the new series "Point Pleasant" would work better following "The OC" than Tru Calling. Point Pleasant was cancelled before finishing its 13 episodes.

The part of Tru was written with Eliza Dushku in mind, but Jon Harmon Feldman didn't actually think that she would really take the role.
 
Wow, i'm really excited now...i just bought season one and two of tru calling yesterday and it should be arriving tomorrow. I bought it mostly because i think Eliza Dushku is just amazing! and i'm also so excited for the release of Dollhouse with her and also Amy Acker in it 😀

Even if it lasts as long as Tru ill be stoked. It would be good if they somehow tie of a lot of loose ends though and not leave us hangin like with Tru.

Well, you never know Silum, the producers of TC might do a Serenity style movie to tie up the loose ends eventually. {fingers crossed}
it was just a case of networks cancelling shows in there prime like pushing daisies,dead like me, arrested development, etc etc no explination, i really enjoyed tru calling sucks that it didnt go further
 
And how we are never gonna know about Tru's dad being evil sucks. It would have been absoloutley ground breaking if they gave that a chance.
