Tru to the WB?

Oh no. What could be worse than Tru Calling being delayed or canceled. Moving to the WB that's what.

According to highly credible sources, there is a strong possibility that Tru Calling
could move to the WB. Please encourage 20th Century Fox and The WB to make this happen.

Luckily they quote the phrase "highly credible sources". Usually when you hear that concerning a WB rumour it turns out to be bogus. I suspect the WB has some kind of misinformation squad.
 
I've heard this rumor for the past few days but like you there hasn't been a stated source. They way the WB has been acting with shows I don't think they would pick up a show that FOX have shelved and then are now shopping around but thats just me.

Yeah. Come to think of it, wasn't there another "credible source" rumour when Fox dumped Wonderfalls, that it was going to the WB. That one never happened. It's just one of a long string of "credible source", WB related rumours.

Speaking of the WB. Did you hear their Wednesday ratings have totally tanked since losing Angel. The show that replaced it was down 1.2 ratings points from Angel's average in it's debut. Smallville, the show the WB has always liked to brag about, is also below Angel ratings.

Do I hear a "Hurrah".

Well isn't that interesting 😉 Although I do like Smallville, so I hope it picks up and they don't decide to do away with that. It was the season premiere but they tend to have good figures.
 
The source is credible. It's someone very much in the know. Maybe someone a little overly optimistic about things. From the sounds of it, 20th is trying to make this happen.

Any time a show is canceled, the production company tries to move it to another network. It's the same case here. Hopefully with fan support The WB will take 20th's offer.

Not to sound cynical, but curious. How do you know this? Do you have any links that will allow me to share your optimism?

Oh and I'm trying to remember something. I know there must have been times when production companies were successful shopping canceled shows (yes I know Tru hasn't been technically cancelled), but I can't think of one off the top of my head. Any help? Maybe Family Guy, but they had that whole successful on DVD thing going for them. No wait, I'm not sure that one would work either, because aren't they returning to their original network? Wait a minute again...what about Buffy? Is that similar to this situation? That was a case of a contract dispute though, wasn't it? Does that apply?

Here's another thing that just occured to me. Am I wrong in thinking the Fox production team that handles stuff like Tru and Angel works independently from the network? because it seems that way.

Even if it doesn't, wouldn't the network object to the production side shopping a show around it had plans for.

So if it turns out Fox really is shopping Tru around, doesn't that confirm the fact beyond a doubt that Tru is dead to the Fox network?

So many questions, I have. 🙂

Edit: Oh and here's another one. Why is it always the WB where this kind of rumour surfaces (Wonderfalls, Angel mini-series, Faith spinoff, WB Angel forums are not shutting down)? Why not UPN, or that Cable network that handles Genre TV? Here's my conspiracy theory. The WB has a misinformation squad that likes to make it look like the network is actually doing something interesting. It creates these false rumours. Can you convince me this doesn't exist?
 
I run SupportTruCalling.com. I've been in contact with sources that are very credible and know exactly what's going on. I don't know how realistic they are being or what the odds.

I have asked them about UPN, and they said at this time, UPN isn't in the picture. WB is their main target. I'm not sure if they've been turned down or if UPN isn't interested in picking up canceled shows or what.

Also, if 20th is shopping Tru around, it would have been canceled by Fox Broadcasting. Since they are related company, there might be some leeway there, but shows can't just take off to another network without being canceled.

So you tell me, you asked them about UPN. That means the source is not ostensibly the WB.

You say "if 20th is shopping Tru around, it would have been canceled by Fox Broadcasting". In order for that to be true either the "credible source" is not Fox or Tru is definitely canceled. If Tru is definitely cancelled, that's a bigger story than the WB rumour, so I don't think that's the case, therefore you must be telling me the source is neither Fox nor the WB.

What does that leave? Agents, writers, actors, producers. Agents, writers, or actors couldn't be called a credible source in this case. That would leave producers. Are you saying the producers of Tru Calling told you the WB is interested in purchasing a season of the show? Still...I'm not sure how credible that is either. Ultimately we're still talking about Warner Brothers rumour mongering.

The WB tried to play the same game with Joss, suggesting possibly there was a WB Angel movie somewhere in the future, but never offering anything solid, hoping to create a rumour. Joss was too smart though. He wouldn't bite. He just kept telling the fans "Nope. Nothing solid. They haven't made anything like a real offer".
 
actually Smallville got really good ratings this past week... better ratings than Angel and i'm guessing that the Smallville DVD sales are really HIGH since Season 1 and 2 are already released and i'm sure they are planning to release Season 3 after or before the Season 4 finale.
 
I don't think the ratings or cult following is great enough yet for the WB to pick it up.

Plus the WB is tending to get rid of its supernatural reputation, I can really only think of Smallville and Charmed that fit the superhero model. There moving towards the evil teen angst shows, especially One Tree Hill. With the exception of one actor (Hiliarie Burton), that show is amazingly bad. The only 3 shows I think that are good are Smallville, Everwood and Gilmore Girls. Don't get me started on Charmed.

I'll be damned if I can figure out ratings. On one site they'll be talking about how pathetic a shows ratings are, on another they'll be boasting about the wonderful ratings.

Basically though, didn't the debut week go something like this.

I think these must have been opening ratings though if such a thing exists. They must be re-calibrated or something after a week. I don't know. I've also seen this.

"Smallville" (3.8/6, 67th) and "One Tree Hill" (3.3/5, 74th). "The Mountain" didn't reach such great heights at No. 85 with a2.6/4.

Also I think Smallville did do decent in the 18 to 49 age group compared to the next network above them. So they have that. From what I've heard though they're down from last year, unless something changed in the second week.
 
I don't really care what network its on as long as it comes on...Wether its on the WB or FOX I think fans will still watch it...

I'm not allowed to say who the source is, but let's just say you're on target.

So far, haven't heard anything much more. Production has wrapped. Original TV, the production company that makes Tru, has dissolved. Dawn Parouse (Jon Feldman's wife, former head of Original) is starting a new production company with Marty Adelstein (another TC producer). Not sure where that leaves Tru exactly if production was to resume.
 
I'm not able to post this on a thread, since I'm not allowed to post anything anymore, so I'll just post it here, since it is related news.

Tru Calling Cancelled

Fox has formally cancelled Tru Calling. They have absolutely no intention of airing the 6 episodes filmed.
20th Century Fox has ordered that they "fold and hold" the sets, so that the show can be revived.

20th Century Fox is also striving to work out a deal to have The WB pickup TC. It is imparative that fans write to the WB to encourage them to make this happen.

DVD sales are the highest priority. If you haven't pre-ordered the TC DVD, please do so. Also, please visit your local stores that sell dvds, and inquire about the TC DVD. Ask when it's coming out, ask if they'll have it. The sales are dependant on how many dvds are distributed to stores. So far, those numbers aren't fantastic. So we need fans out there hitting the pavement and demanding that stores carry the TC DVD.

Ahhhh....I'm so confused...so...I know they delayed it...but now they cancelled it all together...but it may move to the WB? So....the WB, which just cancelled Angel...is gonna take on Tru Calling...that seems so unlikely, but I hope it happenes...we can't lose ANOTHER good show.
 
Pah, I don't believe any of this crap what so ever. I am not going to beileve it until it is on the offical Fox website and I see The show On the offical WB website. And Tru calling is NOT cancelled. In June she was at the Wizard Convention in Philly and The words that Came out of her mouth was that " They are going for another season and that it will be on thursday's at 9pm"

so I am believing the words of Eliza. Until I see accual Proof on both offical Sites.
