This has been bugging me for like ages and I didnt know if to not post it on the board as it is rude in a sexual way..when Angel gets True Happiness it is when he is having sex with Buffy and he loses his soul say if Buffy erm..did something other than hav sex with him that was sexual would he lose his soul?
 
I don't think so,I'm sure Darla did those 'things' and he didn't lose his soul with her....he lost it with Buffy cuz he loved her

I think it had to do with the love factor and an act that is so beautiful...and NORMAL...it makes him totally happy...it's all of those factors...to consumate your love for someone and share something so intimate together is something very human and he isn't...so to finally feel that...really FEEL that is to be perfectly happy for him...so...really, I can see it happening reguardless...but it's just prettier the way they did it...lol...
 
I dont think if they did it another way (as in Oral sex) that he would lose his soul because sure he gets a moment of a little happy but its not exactly showing someone that you love them whereas haveing regular sex(in B/A case and other ppls) they made love instead they joined with one another and they told each other they loved each other then they made love and he lost his soul, so no I dont think he would lose his soul if Buffy gives him Oral.

Although when he lost his soul in S2 he and Buffy were sleeping. Shouldn't the moment been when he climax, while that wouldn't be as dramatic it would make more sense.
 
I agree with AshSan about the climaxing, but I think that it would have been difficult to make such a scene suitable for network television.

Angelus talks about... erm... pleasuring himself... during season four, but apparently the fantasies that he has while listening to Fred and Gunn do not constitute a moment of true happiness. I think that having Buffy give him oral would push him over the edge, though. I think that any real intimacy with her would be true happiness for him.

On a side note, do you think that Buffy and Angel used protection? I doubt that Angel was carrying condoms and since Angel was her first (wasn't he?), I doubt that she was on the pill or anything. Maybe it was a good thing that he was a vampire after all. She could have gotten knocked up. 😛
 
No I dont think Angel hides condoms in his drawers or Buffy in her pockets. They already knew that she wouldnt be able to get pregnant so they didnt really have to worry about anything.

I think after Angel climaxes the spell takes a few minutes to take full force, its like Angelus is pushing his way up and trying to get the soul out of his body when he sees the opening. When Angel woke up with Darla he thought he was going to lose his soul and he looked like he was in pain alittle.

Yeah but he didn't truely love Darla! I think that if Buffy was too do "something else" rather than sex then he would lose it cos he'd still reach that perfect state... (nudge nudge, wink wink) 😉

See, Don't you think that thinking about who's got the protection kills the mood sometimes? Especially with Buffy and Angel. It's one of those spur-of-the-moment, can't wait any longer things. And half way through the foreplay you suddenly remember...

I remember there was a big debate about the 'condom issue' after they showed the episode and Joss came out saying that Angel was shotting blanks! So in the Buffyverse vamps are not meant to reproduce hence why the Darla pregnancy was SUCH a big issue cause if really shouldn't have happened.

I know that vampires cannot reproduce, but when Buffy and Angel first had sex, she did not know that he was a vampire, so she should have used protection. Angel probably knew that nothing could happen, but it is unlikely that she told Buffy. ("Don't worry baby, I'm sterile" might have killed the mood.) I was just pointing out that as far as Buffy knew, she was having unprotected sex with a fertile human, which could be dangerous.

Sorry, but this brings up another question. Can vampires carry STDs? Angel spent a two hundred years life whoring and raping, so it seems likely that he would have caught something. It might not have killed him, but he could have passed it on to Buffy. Darla had a syphilitic heart condition when she turned human, so does that mean that she had been carrying syphilis all of those years as a vampire? If so, she probably would have passed it on to Angel, so he could have passed it on to Buffy. Just a thought.
 
I think you guys are vesting this mythology with a little too much real-world weight.

Although since we're already going down that road...no, I don't think Angel could be carrying any STDs, unless he contracted one when he was still alive (like Darla did).

And I think the reason that his soul left him later, rather than at the moment of orgasm, was that his moment of true happiness probably came in the down time, as they lay there together. Holding one another, ragged breathing slowing down as the sweat cooled on their skin . . . that's the moment you feel true happiness, peace, contentment. The post-coital cuddle. During the actual moment, all Angel probably felt was "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Angel loses his soul when he finds perfect happiness, when his soul finds peace. Afterwards he would have felt all that 🙂

Like others have said Buffy knew Angel was a vamp since S1 ep 7 Angel and she knew that Vampires couldnt have kids.

Vampires cant carry any STDs since their body is dead, if they had any before they became vampires it would only show up agian if they turn human agian(like Darla) with Darla she had a disease and it went away when she was turned into a vampire, she couldnt pass it on to Angel since he was a vampire and the disease was not there when she was a vampire but when she turned human agian her system started up agian and the disease showed up agian.
