TV Gal Expresses Her Concerns

"Angel" (Wednesday, WB, 9 p.m.): I'm getting a ton of e-mail about Spike's presence on "Angel" (Wednesday, WB, 9 p.m.). There's a whole contingent out there who would be very happy if Blondie Bear had never come to Los Angeles (they're "so over Spike" is what they tell me). I still love James Marsters. Still believe he has created one of television's most memorable and heartbreaking characters. I remain delighted that the end of "Buffy" didn't end Spike's journey. Plus. I think the show is doing a good job of balancing his presence on the show with other action. However, I do think the show seriously needs more female characters. I still can't like Eve. I'm not sure if it's the way the character is written or the performance (I'm thinking it's the performance), but she's no Lilah. Another concern -- last week's episode was basically a retread of the "Something Blue" episode of "Buffy" when everything Willow said came to pass. Angel is also emotionally inconsistent -- personally, I'd like a little more brooding over his son and Cordelia (actually, I'd like it if the show had even mentioned Cordelia since the season premiere).

For episode spoilers, Amy has this to say:

Wesley's father (Roy Dotrice who played Father on "Beauty and the Beast") will arrive on "Angel" to evaluate whether or not Wesley can be admitted back into The Watcher's Council. Hmmm ... didn't that blow up last season? Maybe that's why they're looking for new members. Juliet Landau reprises her role of Drusilla on Nov. 19. This will be a flashback episode that shows more of the history of Angel, Spike, and Dru. This is also the episode when Spike will take corporeal form again. It seems that the universe is quite upset with having two vampires with a soul roaming around saving the day.

I agree with everything said about Eve. It's the performance. The actress is horrible. As for Spike, I don't think he's been taking over. 5.2 and 5.4 were pretty much Spike-centric, but I wouldn't say the focus has shifted to him from Angel. And more female characters? Call me crazy, but I love a show with lots of hot guys!

I don't think Sarah Thompson is actually a terrible actress. Maybe she doesn't have a lot of good lines to work with. I wish Eve would leave 'cause all she does is hang around and occasionally screws Angel in both senses of the word.

I'd feel fine if JM never joined the cast. He belongs on Buffy, not Angel.

i think that he belongs at my house lol no he belongs on both shows

can't give my opinion yet,but i guess jm on angel wont bother me at all 😉 ...who cares if he belongs there or not?,he's hot, david is hot, they're both in the same show.what's better than that??!!

What's better is that SMG guest stars and Buffy gets back together with Angel while both Angel's and Spike's shirts are off...

What could the Joss do with Spike to make him more interesting on Angel? Right now, he's a forced presence on the show. It doesn't feel right.

it does feel right it feels good i love him there of course i think he is a little boring though at the moment

well, that would be a miracle...a wonderful,hot[s/a] and perfect miracle--maybe he presensce is a little force, dunno yet,but i suppose it wont annoy me...come on it's spikey...on angel!-i know b/a is way better than spike on ats but anyways i'll be happy about it i guess

That could actually happen in a dream sequence if Joss allowed it... anything can happen...

I don't know what Spike's purpose is on the show, seeing how he can't fight 'cause he doesn't stay corporeal for long... all he does is annoy Angel. Well, I kinda like that and I also like the jealousy over Buffy between them...

I think Spike's presence on the show is great!

Honestly, it makes "Angel" a lot easier to watch for me, considering I never really was an Angel fan when it started, but now that Buffy's over.... Angel works.

I think that the beginning of S2 and S3 of Angel are much better than S5. S5 has monster-of-the-week episodes and sometimes the storylines are boring. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that Joss will make it better...

i dont think they should get rid of spike....i like his where he is...and there is propose to why he is there......even if we dont see it yet.

just give it time and it will show it self.....i wonder what it is.....i cant wait

Angelus 87

The first couple of episodes have felt off, but from what I've read about ep. 7 & 8, the quality will get much better. Spike's prescene does feel forced, but only because he's incoporeal.

he should but come on hes really hot so that makes him interesting

rene, if physicality is your primary concern, why watch shows like Buffy and Angel, where writing and character development almost always take center stage? You might as well go watch pornography.

who says i dont watch porn???? lol its not my biggest concern im just sayin i like him and i dont just like the show for that im just playin and im sorry if i offended you in some way?

I'm in your boat Watcher. A big problem with these shows, is their high female following, of course most only following due to the looks of the characters. If you'll remember, there has been a whole thread on how bad DB's hair looks this season. If you girls will just focus on the freakin' show, and not how hot David and James are, the show will be much more enjoyable.
