TV Shows for your child (real or make believe) to watch with you?

Ok so parents AND non-parents.... This is my question spurred on by the lockdown and needing tv shows to watch....
What tv show would you watch with your...

Under the age of 12 child,
12 -15 child
15 - 18 child

Obviously personally I'm interested in the 12-15 age group... let's see if you can come up with a show that Abbs would watch and I'm interested in your answers as to what you also deem appropriate for your child to watch that you would watch with them. Please pop the age rating next to your choices as they are different in different countries!

@Nix What TV shows does your daughter like ? Would help me give recommendations.

As a single virgin, here are my recommendations for different age groups :

Under 12:
*Sesame Street.
*Green Eggs and Ham.
*Phineas and Ferb.
*Kim Possible.
*Drake and Josh.
*Ned's Disclassified.
*Life with Derek.
Sesame Street is for under 6, the rest are for kids who are 7-8 years old and up.

12-15:
*Doctor Who (9, 10 and 11).
*Agent Carter.
*Degrassi.
*Gilmore Girls.
*Smallville.
(Some of these require Parental Guidance for the 12-13 crowd in order to explain things or skip over some scenes).

15-18:
*Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the first three seasons can also be in the 12-15 group).
*Angel.
*Sex Education (Parental Guidance recommended).



Here is a bonus list of things I would not recommend for certain age groups:
Under 12:
*Barney the Purple Dinosaur.
*Soap Operas.
*Glee, but you can let them listen to the soundtrack regardless of the actual show.

12-15:
*Most CW shows.
*Grey's Anatomy (when I was in middle school, almost everyone at school watched it).
*HBO like shows.

15-18:
Really depends on the maturity of the kid.

100000% Avatar the Last Airbender.

Every child and adult should watch this show. Very much aimed at children, very much enjoyable for adults. It has great themes and great lessons, and is much deeper than your typical "kid cartoon". Rarely has there been a show that was enjoyed by every single person in my household when I was a kid, but this was it. I recently rewatched season 1 and it has aged very well. I would let just about anyone watch this show, definitely appropriate for children under 12 but I think I was a little older than that when I first watched with my mom and brother.

And if you like it the series has a sequel, the Legend of Korra. I would say the target audience is slightly older for Legend of Korra, some of the themes are a little more complex, so while in my opinion still appropriate for under 12, I think it fits better for the 12-15 bracket, and I believe the age bracket for it is 12+. As for me, I watched it with my mom when I was in my 20s.

As a side note, do not watch the movie adaptation, it's awful.

As a fan of the classic Doctor Who, I'd get the under 12's watching that. They might not enjoy the b&w episodes, but from Pertwee onwards should be ok.

Talking of Pertwee, did you see the new Worzel Gummidge with Mackenzie Crook? It was fantastic, I'd highly recommend that to the under 12's.

I used to love The Wonder Years, but might be a bit cheesy now - it was cheesy back then, but I loved it (and great music)

I think as a parent I wouldn't mind the age rating of TV shows and movies too much because I watched for example Buffy as a child and I'm glad I did but I get that some kids might find it upsetting so you know your child best.

I'd like to reccomend these BBC shows for the 12-15 category which you've probably seen but just in case you haven't.
