Out of interest, how faithful is Twilight the movie, to the book?
For the most part, the movie is pretty true to the book. The only problem, for me, was that they left too much OUT of the movie. There are a lot of things that are in the book that were left out of the movie, that I felt would have explained more about the characters and made them a little more likeable to people who weren't already fans, such as the background on all the Cullens and not just Edward.
The thing about the Twilight movie is that it was made with this small studio, with not a lot of money backing it. The studio peeps wanted to make sure this was something they could make a lot of money on before giving them the big bucks for effects and things. So certain things that people trash, like Edward's sparkling effect, or the fight scene at the end, were done with very little money for things like CGI that might have made it more believable.
That being said, I think if you saw the movie and you hated it, you should STILL make the effort to read at least the first book. Just because something's different than Buffy or Angel and isn't written by Joss doesn't mean it's bad.
