an atomic explosion right near the beginning that even managed to kill the Vampires!

The story is about a girl who is so hopeless that she becomes obsessively dependant on a boy who is so controlling that he stalks her and can't even let her walk by herself.

And has anyone mentioned that HE SPARKLES!!!

Help a brother out here. 🙂 This whole sparkly thing. Vamp Tramp and I were talking about this. A friend told me that they sparkle in sunlight. Is this true? And if it is, is that not kind of a give away to people, that they are a vampire? Or does it just look like body glitter. 🙂
I know I could just watch it, but I've seen clips, and stalker boy weirds me out.

The books sucked, the film was worse; is there anything more to say? Okay, I try and be as open-minded as possible 'cause I was a fan for a while (If I wasn't, I wouldn't have gone through the insanity of reading all four books) it's just...they're not vampires, they're just like insanely beautiful immortal people. It's just another crappy love story. Stephenie Meyer seems like an okay author, to an extent, I just don't think vampires were her forte.

I'm not really invested in vampire lore. The only mythology I know is Buffy and Angel and Dracula. I tend to avoid anything else vamp related like the plague but seriously...how the hell did she get away with it? I mean sparkles? vampire baseball? the sun? it's just so ridiculous...even for science fiction!

Sadly, it is. That's why they live in a town where it rains about 364 days a year and missing from school on the sunny days.
And I think it's described to look like a thousand diamonds or something. I forgot.

ha

I REALLY tried to enjoy this movie and I kinda did but the main thing missing in this film was the development of love. There wasn't any and I also think the actor cast as Edward was horrible! but Kristin (Loved her in Panic Room) and the actress who played Alice were great and my favorite also.

Omg I totally agree with you, except the Edward bit, they so miss out on the main theme, the love that grows between them etc,.
and Kristen Stewart is the wrong person to play Bella, her attitude simply annoys me.

Ha, I never meant to post a new thread about Twilight, I was replying back to a thread, lmfao, sorry : erm :

Yes, she definitely isn't submissive enough - what you need is a stoned version of Kristen...who is perhaps sleeping...after being poisoned...and has fallen into a coma...minutes away from death?

I love the books. I love the movie. I love those who do not love the books or the movie.

It doesn't really bother me too much anymore when people bash it. It used to really bug me, but I got over it. We all have personal tastes. I like the love story aspect of the book. Forbidden love and all that (Hey, my names not SpikedBuffy for nothin!)

I think that we can all get along. Twilighters can live with non-Twilighters, just like Republicans can live with Democrats.... 🙂

Yes, its 'Forbidden' love with Spike and Buffy in that sexy way.

With Edward and Bella its forbidden by the intelligent readers who just begin reading it and go into a Dr Cox style rant that starts with "No, no no no no nine, nada, non, nope, naha, nicht, nyet..."

You get my point!

I liked the first three books - hated Breaking Dawn... But I loved the movie a lot and I think it is a big improvement on the book as it takes out a lot of the cheesy aspects of the story. Bella was a way better character in the film than in the book. Love Rob Pattinson - his Edward was excellent and not so overbearing and dictatorial as bookEdward, plus, not at all difficult to look at for two hours🙂

The thing Atticus is that they're undercover as drag queens that's why no one would tell they're vampires whenever they sparkle :drunk:

Lmfao.
So I finally caved, and watched the movie. The image of sparkley vampires was to strong. And I have to say I was surprised.
It's surprising how Kristin Stewart has managed not to gain even the slightest hint of acting talent from her time spent with Jodie Foster.
Although she is a master at exhaling, and that irritating "cuhhhh" noise, she makes while doing so, is a revelation.
It's also surprising to see how chat up lines have changed since I was a teenager. Now refer to a girl as "Your own personal brand of heroin" and a "lamb", and you're guaranteed some sexy time.
As much as I don't like this movie, there are some truly sad, heart breaking moments. Realizing that "Muse" have a song on the soundtrack, cut me deep. Real deep.
Was there anything I liked about this movie, uh, hmm, oh some of them have really nice names, Bella, Carlisle, Esme, Jasper, Rosalie. Good names.

She does sound like she is constantly on the verge of an EPIC orgasm in that movie in every scene!

I think any girl standing in close proximity to Edward all the time WOULD constantly be on the verge of an epic orgasm :p
Obligatory for any Twilight-related thread:

That said, I have a weird relationship with Twilight. Every time I finished one of the books, I went, "Oh my god, I hate myself for wasting some of my life on that piece of crap. I need to get the next one!" Still, my passionate hate for it vastly overpowers the guilty pleasure I take in reading it, so I'm definitely not a fan. Also, Stephenie Meyer is a total insane-o who can't write for her life.

:lmao:
I have a similar relationship though I have to say Stephanie Meyer's non-Twilight book "The Host" is actually really good.

Did anyone else pause for a moment while reading the Twilight novels and think to themselves man this is like a very mediocre fanfic?
:thought:
But of course I love fanfic so even if it isn't really good I will read it.

Really, you liked The Host? I tried reading it but couldn't even get halfway through...I hated it! Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
Ooooh, that gif reminded me of this:

I actually felt like I was reading Stephenie Meyer's personal masturbation fantasy.
Which reminds me - did anyone else think that Bella and Edward obviously only tried to have sex in the missionary position? Most of their problems (...pillow biting *snorts*) could've been resolved by Bella being on top.
Gosh, I shouldn't be thinking about this anymore. My head hurts.

LOL That icon is pretty funny, even though I love the Twilight saga!
I used to think Twilight was the lamest thing ever, all the crazy obsessed Edward fangirls, it was everywhere, I thought it was ridiculous. People were like, you should read it, and I'd be like "Pfft, I'm not reading that teeny bopper crap, I'm a Buffy fan!" Then I was finally cooerced into making a pact with a friend. I'd read that lame Twilight book if she'd watch Buffy. So i lent her S1 and I slowly began Twilight. I wasn't into it at first, I tried holding on to my determined bias... and then I got to the part where he saves her from being squished between her truck and the van, then it was all over, I got totally sucked in. I had shame for a long time about it, mainly cause I'm 26 and I thought this was a book for 13 year olds. But whatever, I'm over the shame, I love it, I'm totally Team Edward, he's effing dreamy, I am a fangirl, I've made peace with it. :silly: I've read all 4 books. New Moon was hard to get through cause Jacob just isn't my cup of tea, but after that its like crack that won't quit and I was a little heartbroken when I got to the last page of Breaking Dawn, I desperately wanted more. Guilty pleasure? yep! The movie was okay, the books kick its ass all day long though. I mean I don't claim that its a piece of great literature, but it is addicting and the love story IS epic. So I get those that hate it I guess cause I was there, and if you've read it and hate it then no one can argue with you, you aren't hating blindly. But if you're saying you hate it based on hype alone and in fact you haven't read it, well, I'm living proof that you never know what could happen... I sure as hell didn't expect to be sucked in, I didn't want to be, hell, i fought it. And hey, win/win situation, my friend is currently watching S5 of of Buffy!

right on for spreading the Buffy love. Though gotta say... Jacob is the best part of Twilight to me.
i hated Jacob at first, but 2nd time you read the books, you actually feel quite sorry for him D:
because you know that he doesnt end up with Bella.
wee shame for him, but still TEAM EDWARD all the way
(y) 🙂

Yeah instead he ends up perving on her daughter... I really doubt I'd feel sorry for him the second time around.
More chemistry between two. And they're better actors. 🙂

I haven't read the books, nor seen the film, so I can't say too much about it. What annoys me about the whole Twilight thing is, like already has been mentioned, the fact that Meyer didn't even bother wikipedia-ing the Vampire lore. I mean, it is such an old myth, that appears throughout ages and pops up in places all over the world. If you want to write about them, at least a quick google search for the basics shouldn't be too much of an effort? Vampires can't survive in sunlight. Even in China they can't. If you want to make sparkly, highly attractive and brooding creatures, than don't call them vampires, because, hell, they aren't. It's like very small giants, unicorns without a horn, wizards that aren't into magic or mermaids with legs.
