Still rushing to fill out their development slates, CBS has ordered two drama pilots.

According to the industry trade papers, CBS has its eye on "Twilight" from Trevor Munson, Ron Koslow ("Beauty and the Beast") and Joel Silver ("Veronica Mars"). The pilot, set up at Warner Bros. TV, focuses on a vampire who works as a private eye and has a love jones for a mortal woman.

Yes, we liked the show quite a bit when it was called "Angel."

Just how idiotic is this idea?

are you serious!?!?!?!?! Oh my god.. someone should slap the stupid out of those people... I'mma protest agianst this and hope its cancelled right away... meanwhile Joss should sue these people or something. Straight up Copy cats!!

Um...you can't tell how similar the shows are going to be from a LOG LINE, I say get over it and wait until you find out more about it, it could end up being pretty good.

Ok someone hold down the guy who is the moron who came up with this and i'll get the axe... We'll chop him up and put him in an icebox...we'll start with his mini-me

Axes...now YOU are the woman for me! Axes...mmmmmmm....;)

Actually you CAN tell how similar the shows are by reading the log line. If they were gonna make a show about a vampire, they could have at least been more original and made him a cop or a fireman or something. It would be funny if they mortal woman he is in love with is a vampire hunter.

I still disagree, two shows can be similar in premise but when you watch them...two VASTLY different shows. I don't get what the big deal is. I highly doubt this show will be very similar to Angel, and if it is, then GOOD. If everyone misses Angel so much why not watch the next best thing?

Cause truthfully there will never be anything AS good as angel no matter how alike it is... just the same with Buffy and Firefly
Just because the premise is the same, doesn't mean it's the next best thing. There's a possibilty that it can be a good show but there is also a possibilty that it can suck. Also what get's me is that the network cancelled Angel, a show about a vampire private eye and then they go and start another show a couple years later about a vampire private eye. That's like a slap in the face to the Joss and all the fans.

Sh*t...what do you say? That has to be one of the most absurd things I've heard in a LONG time...if it's anything like Angel I'll be forced to go down to CBS, rip off thier arms and beat them to death with them for not picking Angel up when it needed to be...I doubt anything new will be as good simply because Angel had a three year build up with Buffy. They started out with characters we were already invested in. I'll keep an open mind but this sounds like a bunchh of crap.

I'm with you for the ripping off arms and beating them thing! Just tell me where and when.
some people just cant think of something original.. all im saying is.. it better be a good show.. for their own sakes. Because if its not half as good as Angel.. why put the show in air... im not going to judge til i find out more

Well it's apparent that CBS had better come with their A game when they do this show because it's already compared to Angel and it will be disected down to the last word.
This could be a blood fest or a love fest.

I'm sorry, Angel might have been a "detective" but he wasn't really. Not in the strictest sense. Just because it has a vampire in it doesn't mean they're copying Angel. And so what anyway? It gives us something to watch.

It's not like Joss never copied anything on his shows...

Though I don't think they're copying Angel with this.

Sorry for the old thread title I used but when I read the article it was the first thought that popped into my head. Will not happen again boss.

Valid points but, seriously, too many similarities. Will I watch? Yes. Will I watch it and give it a fair shake? Yes. Will I try not to compare it to Angel? No...it will be too hard not to.
Seriously! Sorry Izzy rant besides it is a lot more family friendly compared to the phrase I really want to use, lol.

The pilot, set up at Warner Bros. TV,

Uhh, just a point of information...Warner Bros. TV is the WB...or it was before it merged/assimilated UPN. Just because it'll be on CBS doesn't mean much. So it is possible it is a direct crib from Angel...more than possible...we'll know for sure if one of the baddies turns out to be a skinny blond guy with an Australian accent (instead of English, that's too much like plagarism).

That wouldn't surprise me...if all those production companies were living in a trailer park, they'd all be sleeping with their siblings...it would explain stupid stuff like cancelling Angel in a year it had its best ratings...

LMAO...that's the best analogy I've read in a year!
I think this is annoying because Angel is over but if it wasn't, most of us would probably watch the show.

The fact that the shows have two things in common doesn't mean that they're clones or something like that.

Take this for example: The Buffyverse is very much like the Riceverse.

The Council is some sort of Talamasca, Spike is almost Lestat's twin (Lestat is one of the main character of "The Vampire Chronicles"), Drusilla is a taller Claudia, Angel IS Louis. (Edited: 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer': Ricean imagery in Season Two).

There are a few references to "The Vampire Chronicles" (School Hard, Buffy vs. Dracula, The Harsh Light of Day, What's my line? I, Lie to me, Origin, etc) so it's obvious that the writers have read the books. (Edited: I just found an interview with Tim Minear in which he mentions Anne Rice: click).

The shows share some characteristics with the books but I don't think it means they copied Anne Rice's ideas.

Maybe "Twilight" has some similarities with "Angel", but so what? Don't all vampire stories have some similarities with "Dracula"? Stake through the heart, no reflextion, etc, are present in both "Dracula" and "Buffy", but not in "The Vampire Chronicles". Does it mean "Buffy" is just like "Dracula" and has nothing in common with "The Vampire Chronicles"? No, not at all. When it comes to vampires, it's all related. Even Stephen Sommers's Van Helsing is like "Angel"'s Holtz 😛.
