I searched around, and could not find a specific thread dedicated to Twin Peaks the televison show. So I made one.

I was wondering what people thought of this interesting, horror/comical parody on soap operas/melodrama. I'm watching it right now (I'm about 5 episodes in) and I must admit I absolutely love it. The characters are so interesting. I had seen Fire Walk With Me already, so I already knew who killed Laura Palmer, but I thought I'd give the show a chance anyway.

Thoughts?

One of my regrets are that I have never seen Twin Peaks. And I don't think I ever will make an effort to try. Maybe if re-runs showed up on the telly, I'd give it a chance

A fantastic show. Season 1, is easily one of the darkest, strangest, funniest shows that was ever been on TV.

I am a huge David Lynch fan, and this may be his best work. A hard show to describe, a basic murder mystery, mixed with surrealism and horror elements. Agent Cooper is probably one of my favorite TV character's ever, he see's the worst of society, but there is always time for Coffee and cherry pie. What is so great about the show is how every character, has their moment to shine, as they are all effected by the death of Laura Palmer, and the realization that she wasn't as saintly as they always expected.

Season 2 sadly does not compare to season 1, as Lynch exits, and the murderer is revealed far to early. Leaving a season to fill with mediocre story lines. The final few episodes are a nice return to form though.
I could talk about Twin Peaks all day actually. I think i'm a Twin Peaks junkie. 🙂

I have the DVD set, but watched it originally when it was shown here in Ireland. I was a kid who watched every horror movie going, Freddy, Jason etc, never scared me in the slightest. But I have strong memories of being generally terrified by "Bob" in Twin Peaks. He still freaks me out a bit.

Anyway, a great show, great character's and one of the best theme song's ever. And the log lady rules. 🙂

Thanks for that review. Yeah, Bob totally freaked me out too. I was like, WTF!? Who is THAT?! I'M REALLY loving the show, though. Can't wait to see what happens next! Agent Cooper just got shot...

🙂 Bob just keeps getting creepier. Cooper shot, that means you've reached the end of season 1, right?
Season 2 has it's good moments, but can be a bit of a struggle to watch, once Laura's murderer is revealed. But stick with it, the final episode is a good one.

So...the film, Fire Walk With Me, is sopposed to take place before the show, correct? I have it, and I've already seen it, so hopefully I watched it in the right order. It seems though, it could also function as a sort of epilouge.

I think fire Walk with me is better watched after seeing the show, it's unusual because it is part prequel, dealing with Laura's last days alive, and the girl who died before her, but it also works as a sequel as mention is made of a character after the show has ended.
To be honest I didn't like Fire Walk with me, but it does connect well to the show, so I think it is important to see.
