Twins

[Willow My Love]

I happen to have a twin brother. When we're together, we kinda feed off the other's energy, meaning we're pretty crazy. We're way more energized. Most of the time, we chalk things up to our amazing wonder twin powers. I wanna know, who else on here has a twin? Or if you've got kids, do you have twins? Got any crazy twin power stories?

For instance: I fell down a hill at this camp my sixth grade class went to. I had wandered off by myself and no one knew where I was. I almost broke my wrist. I sprained it pretty badly. My twin finds me and asks me what happened. I'm like *sob* and he says, "My arm hurts. What did you do?"

We have dreams that go together too. Like we'll dream about the same things.

One thing, I hate the question, 'What's it like to be a twin?' I always answer with, 'What's it like not to be a twin?' No one can answer that. They can't tell me what it's like not to be a twin because they've never been one. I've never not been a twin. I don't know anything else. I don't know if that bothers anyone else on here.

Now, my twin has moved to California. I'm in Ohio. We talk just about every day, but I miss him more than words can tell. I'm flying out there for my older brother's wedding in March. We'll have been apart 9 months, which is the longest in our whole lives. It's incredibly weird. Hopefully, I can go there or he can come here for our birthday. We've never spent that apart in 22 years. (I'd much rather go out there...)

That would be so cool but unfortunately i'm not a twin....i don't know what's it's like but i'm guessing it's more lonely kind of like you are without your twin. I have cousins who are twins and they're really close sisters but are actually opposites in the way they act for the most part

I don't have a legit twin.... but my sister and I are 11 months apart... which means we're "irish twins." ("Irish twins" means your less than a year apart). When we were younger people always used to ask my mom "Oh wow... are they twins?" And mom would be like "Yep! Irish!" And they'd look at her strange because 1. she does not look Irish and 2. they thought she randomly volunteered the info we were Irish.... which we're not.

When I was younger, I thought it was cool.... but now, if you call Maya and I Irish twins, we'll cut you with our harsh words. I do not take kindly to it anymore... my mother ruined it.

Pretty much the same situation as Zoe's, only not even the Irish Twins thing. A lot of people used to think Teo and I were twins, we're close in age and until I was ten or so we got that on occasion. Then I turned brunette/redhead and he stayed blonde. 🙂

Also, my mom had a boy before me, but he died. I am kind of confused by the circumstances of this, but I know it has something to do with being concieved too close together, he's like my half twin or something.

That's sad. A friend of mine from high school had a set of twins, and 10 months later had another set.

My brother and me were never asked if we were twins. I was always smaller than him until we were about 7, when I started growing and he didn't. He didn't catch up until we were 17. Now he's 6'2'' and I'm officially 5'8 1/2''. We don't look alike. We do have the same nose, but his is bigger. Our eyes are set the same, but he has blue eyes. In fact, I'm the only one in my family with green eyes. Both my parents, all my grandparents, both my brothers, they all have blue eyes. He has my dad's jawline, and my Papal's build. I look just like my mother. Put us together, You can tell we're siblings, but you'd never think we were twins. Until we opened our mouths, that is.

I can look at him, without him saying a word, and agree or disagree with what he's thinking.

Oh! I love the, "You're birthday's May 19th? When's Joe's birthday?" Uh... The 11:59 and midnight argument is null. I was born at 1:05 pm. Joe was born at 1:04. We're, technically, not even a minute apart. They grabbed him, then me. C-section. Though they told my dad I was born first. Birth certificates say otherwise, and I go from that. He used to tell everyone I was his little sister. That used to make me so mad!

Man I always wished I had a twin. My oldest sister looks the most like me and she is 5 years older than I am. we used to do everything together and now I haven't seen her in years. And now I have a niece and nephew that I haven't met.

Any time that the subject of twins comes up, I can't help but remember a line from an old Peter O'Toole movie. The subject of twins came up (I think someone commented that he did twice the work of anyone else, and was he, in fact, really twins?

Mr O'Toole replied sagely and with all sincerity, "I don't think that the world could stand two of me,"

An excellent sci-fi book about twins and their special bond is by the great Robert Heinlein, "A Life For The Stars." I would recommend it to anyone, single, twin, or triplet.

Do people wishing to have a twin have a certain sex in mind or wouldn't it matter? For me I wanted a twin brother. Nowadays when I'm old I don't care but when I was a kid it seemed like fun. Considering how sibling rivalry can be I wonder how it would be to have a twin that outshines you so to speak. I've been the least successful, with trouble in school (studying, not like I was a troublemakes) of our siblings and at times that's been hard enough. Having a twin that seem to be better at things probably wouldn't make things better.

We had twins in our class but since it was one girl and a boy we never thought much about it. Since I'm easily confused I guess it was a good thing that they aren't identical twins. I'm sure they could have fooled me a lot. 😛

I used to be friends with a couple of twins. It could be really embarrasing before I learnt how to tell them apart and met one of them out on the town or something. I always tried to talk about genereal things so they wouldn't realise I didn't know who I was talking to. 😀

My and my little sister look A LOT a like even though we're 6 years apart. People have asked us if we are fraternal twins many times. When we say no they say to my little sister "Ok, but you're the big sister, right?". LOL. She is taller than me and she looks mature for her age, but LOL, still, she's 18 and I'm 24, COME ON! 😀

I've seen some twin sister videos in which... um maybe this isn't the place to discuss that.

I am however interested in hearing more on the strange connection that Twins have which you discuss Willow. It freaks me out a bit due to an episode of the X-files I saw when I was young about evil twins that killed their foster parents. I've read and can recommend you a great book called 'Twin Telepathy: The Psychic Connection' by Guy Lyon which goes into detail on the subject. There is some really interesting stuff in there which even as an atheist believer of science gets me thinking that a connection between twins like you describe can exist.

Nope not a twin! My sister and I are almost two years apart, look NOTHING alike, and have two very distinct personalities. Get us in the same room though, and that crazy sibling connection kicks in though...we start laughing at our own morbid sense of humor no one else seems to get, finishing each others sentences, and making all sports of inside jokes....

Case in point I was in the car with my mother and husband the other day, and we drove past a billboard that said "smoking causes ear infections!"as part of a don't smoke/no second smoke campaign. I crack up, every one else stares at me like i'm posessed. I then spend three next few minutes trying to explain why the billboards funny, cause it's such a serious looking billboard and ear infections are probably the least damaging thing smoke can cause, and all the while my mom is getting upset at me cause she doesn't see the humor in it. I finally got irritated and just told her if my sis were there s she would have thought it was funny. I told her about the billboard later, and she got it.


We also both ramble. A lot.

I'm not a twin, but my mum was- I say "was", because her twin died shortly after they were born. My grandma was told that the twin that died had something wrong with her head, but my suspicion is that it was 1946, my grandad was still in the military police in Italy, my grandma already had one daughter before the twins and it was before we had universal healthcare in Britain, so somebody decided that it would be better for my grandma to allow the deformed twin to die rather than leave her to bring up three young children, one disabled, on her own.

My grandma also had twin brothers called (really!) Ronald and Donald who are both dead now. A family history of twins isn't always the best thing to share with a girl when you're getting to know each other!

I'm a nanny for twins that are a year and a half old and they are constantly mumbling to each other; even though they can't talk yet, I'm pretty sure they understand each others mumbles.

I always thought it would be cool to have a twin. I use to think about how cool it would be to switch places and play tricks on people.

Oh, we're not identical, obviously. I've never been able to switch with my twin.

I guess when we were little, Joe would talk for me and I'd walk for him. He'd tell Mom what I was saying, and I'd go get what he wanted. She had to start separating us for me to talk and him to walk. I'm told we cried a lot.

He used to do this thing when we were really little. I think it's my earliest memory. He used to sit at the top of the stairs and bang his head on the wall over and over again. I did it once, sat down and just wailed. And somehow, he's still smarter than me!

I got called to the front of the class in first grade because we read a book about twin raccoons. They wanted me to talk about being a twin. Again, I say I don't know what it's not like, so I can't really tell you what it's like. So I just started crying. I wouldn't stop until they went and got my twin (we were in separate classes in elementary school.) and brought him to me. Only then would I stop crying. I don't know what it is, but Joe's always been able to comfort me better than anyone else in my life. Even my mom. He can calm me down too. When I'm angry, I vent to him, and he talks me down from my anger.

I'm pretty sure Caitaintdead is my twin, we must have been separated at birth and just never told about it. There is no other explanation for the fact that we have exactly the same experiences, humour, problems and opinions.

if I ever get to be a mother, I would love to have twins... I've always dreamt about it, but don't really know why. I even wish them to be a girl and a boy, (therefore not necessarily two of one gender). But it's really unlikely, unless the father has multiple births in his family, 'cause I have not.

I've always wanted twins too. I'd prefer boy/girl twins like I am, but if I would get two boys or two girls I wouldn't be upset.

The age-difference between my sister and I is 7 years, so noooo. Haha! 🙂 I don't know if I ever really thought about what it would be like to have a twin when I was younger. I do remember my cousin taking me out back and pointing to the side of the house and telling me that was where her twin was buried. I think she actually did have a twin for a little, but it died way early in her mom's pregnancy. Uh, sounds like she took the neww... well?

It is, however, an easy way to make a shiver pass through my parents by mentioning "hey, what if I'd had a twin?" They told me one of me was enough.

I'm not a twin, obviously seeing as my sister and I are 2 years apart. But I wouldn't mind having twins if I became a mother.
