Hey guy's and Gal's...
I've added two new Ring Projects from early Buffy episodes to my web-site but would like some input
on which you all think I should start on first:
1) The Order of Aurelius Ring
2) The Order of Terraka Ring.

Here's a link to the page showing the images of the Rings:
http://buffyprops.com/PropPage.aspx

Please choose one of the two and post if you will why you chose the way you did.
I figure I'll give it a week or two and see what happens!
These will be available to purchase.
The POLL is at the top of this page---PLEASE VOTE!
Thanks in advance for your input!

I'm going for teraka purely based on design. I love the stories behind both rings but the teraka one is slightly cooler.

The Aurelius Ring has a flip open top though...maybe I should mention that in the desription?
I like that you three (don't know who the third one was)
chose the easier of the two rings!
I should have mentioned that the Aurelius Ring has a flip open top to reveal the sun and three stars.

I wasn't aware of that. Could you give a description of the top in the closed position?

Sure...
Buffy say's, "What about this? On the inside it's a Sun and three stars."
I alway's assumed she had looked on the inside of the band to see the image, but after looking at the scene more closely you can see that she has flipped open a compartment on the top of the ring to reveal the image. That and the close-up of the image you can see two small silver orb's on the right side which is where the clasp would snap down between to hold it closed.
I'm figuring on the compartment lid being as non-descript as possible (because The Order of Aurelius is a SECRET order)
and Silver in composition. Also, because Marcus Aurelius was a Roman Emperor, the ring will have antique Roman overtures in it's design.(one being the flip open top)😀

Though I gotta say...I don't really think that Spike was in the order or could even really be considered "In the line of Aurelius"...

I mean, Yeah, he killed the "Annoying One" and took over that "gang" but I really don't think he gave two flying figs for the order...

And Angelus declined to be in the order.

The Aurelius Ring is really the more difficult in design of the two but I can see both being desirable.

That's really quite awesome if it has a flip to the design.

Personally, I can't stand the design of the sun and three stars, it looks so tacky and reminds me of the 90's hippy style of art that was quite popular for awhile.

The terraka ring is something I would actually wear quite regularly as it is so beautiful to look at (and I dig big rings). If the Aurelius ring has a simple silver flat surface that flips open though then I would love that one as well though, so now I'm kinda torn!

That's a good point though CAD...
Both rings will eventually be made and Both will be the large style that they are shown to be in those episodes.
The style is called "Signet" and is generally worn
by men but these will be available in whatever size you need so anyone can wear them.
It's a pretty close poll at the moment but there's still time to get your vote in if you haven't already.

Signet! It was driving me crazy trying to figure the name!
I have seen that Ring of Aurelius, complete with flip up top and compartment, somewhere before, but for the life of me I can't remember where. I'm thinking that it was at the Atlanta Renaissance Fair a couple of years ago. The reason that I remember it was that the dealer actually said that it was the same one used on the "Buffy" series.

I do remember, however, that Museum Replicas used to have a poison compartment ring that you might be able to modify to make it look right. That would, at least, be easier than trying to start from scratch. There are several here

http://www.thefind.com/jewelry/info-secret-compartment-poison-ring#page=1

that might work.

Thanks for the input WK...did you vote in my poll?

I spend a great deal of time looking for original examples of what was used on screen whenever possible.
Sometimes I have a great deal of luck, such as finding Willow's Dagger.
This is one of those cases though where it's going to be easier to make the rings from scratch than it will be to find and modify.
Keep in mind I also intend to replicate what is made and it's alway's easier to replicate or "mold up" made pieces that haven't been assembled yet than it is to find something already made and dis-assemble it.

I voted Aurelius. The other rings looks too much like something you would find a shop than a real monster relic. 🙂 Both are cool ideas though.

Thanks Kitty!
Thanks for the feed-back here guy's and gal's.
I'm doing a major clean on the workshop today to prep for this!😀

Looks like it's going to be the Order of Aurelius Ring to start...
though there's still some time to get your votes in!

Both rings have been submitted to my jeweler friend for consideration. It's looking like the "Aurelius" Ring will take longer as we have decided to make it with Abalone' Inlay of the Sun and Stars.
Should have some progress to show on the Terraka Ring soon!
