uh hello I guess

Hi all.

This introduction might differ from the most here I guess since it is not written by an actual Fan of the show. Which of course will raise the question what then I am doing here, well the answer is a little bit longer:

A friend of currently has to stay in the hospital for a longer period of time. She, in contrast to me, is a fanatic Buffy-Fan. Owning (to the best of my knowledge) all episodes on DVD, many books and much more. Also I know that she likes to read (and I believe also write, though I have never seen any) those so called Fanfics.

That brings me to the reason I am here. Since I know from personal experience that hospital stays are boring as hell, I had the idea of downloading some fanfics for her. That though comes with a few challenges:

I fear she will easily know most of the stories I could easily find...to avoid this I simply decided to look for stories in English as I know that she does not like to read/watch things in English as her is not that great. (of course that means I have to translate them before I give them to her)

While I literally have found hundreds of stories...I don't have a clue which ones are good and worth the trouble of doing all the translation work. This is worsened by the fact that I don't really know that much about the show. I have seen it on occasion know what is about and can even name several of the characters but noway I could tell if a story follows the "rules" of the show (I hope you can understand what I mean with that).

So long story short (I hope someone is still reading after that wall of text), I am here hoping that someone could help find fan written stories about this show so I have something I could cheer my friend up with as long as she can't go home.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer and please excuse if my English sounds a bit off. Obviously it is not my mother language and i have not slept in over 30 hours so please any mistakes I have made.

I'd love to help, but I have to know first what kind of fics she likes. And what pairing? What rate? I don't read many fics, except for Buffy/Faith. (sw)
 
uhm..what do you mean with pairings and rates? I was going to answer to say good rated ones, but I don't think that is what you meant.
 
Ratings as for movies and such. There's definitely a lot not suited for kids for example. But someone that reads fanfic, which I don't, I'm sure will come along and explain things better. Pairings is probably (once again I don't read fanfic) which characters the story should center around. So knowing her favourite characters and couples probably wouldn't hurt.
 
So ratings as in age-rating? Well She is over 20 years old so I guess that does not really matter. About which characters she likes..to be honest I can't really say (and I don't even know all of them anyway. And since this is suppossed to be a small surprise I can't ask her directly).

I am pretty sure she does not like the second slayer. I think she has taken a liking for Xander (who is in fact pretty much the only character from the show I find sympatic, though that does not really matter here). Other then that I am not sure I can give you much more info, but does that really matter that much? I would have assumed a fanfic is good or interesting because of the story it tells and less because of who hooks up with whom in it. But then I don't really know much about this show, or anything about fanfics.
 
Ratings as in age-rating pretty much. But there's still the question about sex. I think there's a lot of stories either based on sex or involving graphic sex-scenes even if there's also a bigger story (good or bad). It might take a while but I hope others will come along soon enough to help. Different timezones, being the weekend and nice weather can make things go slower than usual.

We always have Introduction To The Watcher Diaries Our members fan fics but I can't point you in the right direction of the great ones. But they should all be family friendly.
 
Thanks for the answers so far, and I did expect that it will take a while to find a fitting story. Regarding sex, I don't think that this is much of an issue (at least compared to how Americans seem to usually see it), though it would feel a bit weird if it was a sex-story (instead of a story that simply also contains sex) since it I guess it would send a wrong, or at least odd message.
