Storyteller
Okay, this is sort of a comic book thing. But over the last couple of years, Marvel comics relaunched some of their most famous titles with the same concepts but just updated storylines and characters for a new generation. Most of the origins and mythologies are still the same just that new creators put their own twist on how the story was told. So how would you re-tell the Buffyverse?
This is how I would do season 1:
Buffy Summers would be alot more hardened and more of a loner at first. She would move to Sunnydale not because she set the school gym on fire, but because she made an arch nemesis with a vampire who is now chasing her down and he has already killed her father. Her and her mom move to Sunnydale to start anew. Although she is very reluctant to start slaying again, she eventually understands that she has responsibility.
Ripper and Wesley- Giles would be the a rogue watcher who decides to train the slayer on his own rather than let the Watcher council get there first, just to spite them. Wesley shows up let's say around episode four claiming that he will train her as her real watcher. Although Buffy doesn't want either one of them, she goes more towards Ripper. The two compete for her throughout the season.
The Master- Same old Master, with the same old gang of vampires trying to escape the Hellmouth.
Willow- She would actually start out as a want to be witch, dressing all gothic and not wanting anything to do with anyone else. She joins Buffy on her adventures, because she herself wants to become evil, Buffy tries to protect and bond with her to make her realize what a great person she is. Throughout the season, she BECOMES the will everyone knows and loves.
Xander- Xander would more start out as that guy who tries so hard that he's an ass about it. He makes fun of Willow because she's goth, although they go way back. He is an alternate in every sport because he's not good enough. But he finds himself oddly attracted to the new outcast in school, Buffy Summers, he follows her around and actually becomes one of her vampire slayer allies, although he's not that good at that either.
Angel- Angel starts out as a double agent, disguising as one of the Masters servants, all while plotting to protect the slayer. He figures he would do it better from the inside.
Cordelia- She would stay the same, but with updated clothing.
Jenny Calender- She would be featured more and would be more of the weird sex pot teacher who ends up shagging with Ripper all over the place. No more coy Giles/Jenny relationship. Also, she would be keeping a closer eye on Angel.
Spike- The vampire who killed Buffy's father in L.A finds her in Sunnydale and swears vengenance and the chance to kill his third slayer.
How will it end?
Well, season 1 would end almost the same with Xander saving Buffy. But instead of Buffy killing the Master on the rooftops, Spike makes his first appearance in Sunnydale, killing The Master on his own. Telling Buffy that things have just begun between the two of them and only one major vampire can be running these parts. And that would be the cliffhanger into season 2.
