I'm kind of new to Buffy, but it's been a long time since anything made me as enthusiastic as Buffy has. I only started watching the show over the summer (so, about June 2012), but I got so into the show that... yeah, I'm still consistently rewatching it. I actually tried watching it back in the summer of 2010 after I saw Firefly, but given the length of the show, the fact that I didn't necessarily have access to it (didn't have Netflix at the time), and the kind of lackluster nature of the first season, I didn't watch it then. I actually regret that quite a bit now.

My girlfriend watched it over the summer first, then prodded me into watching it (we were completely convinced by the summer's double whammy of Cabin in the Woods and The Avengers). Outside of a couple of bumpy areas, I absolutely love the show (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be here and part of the fandom). I'm currently watching Angel as well -- I like it as well, but I'm more divided on it -- it hits some really high points (Five by Five and Sanctuary are pretty much perfect), but I feel like its overall level of quality is lower than Buffy. I'm near the end of Season 3 of Angel, though I have seen some of Seasons 4 and 5, as well as having been spoiled on almost everything that happens.

So, I think I'll use this to talk a bit about my own biases, favorites, stuff like that. My favorite character is Faith (look just above and see how much that doesn't surprise you), and I can write about that at length (seriously, someone once asked me why and my response was a 1700 word essay). Season 3 is my favorite (big surprise there), but not just because of Faith (but that's a large part of why). My favorite episode is This Year's Girl/Who Are You (I count them as one, but if you don't, then Who Are You is 1 and This Year's Girl is 2), which I've probably watched 20 times, and none of that should come as a big surprise. My biggest disappointment was that Faith wasn't used more in the series as a whole and the fact that the spin-off focused on her never happened (though Angel and Faith is helping there). Yeah, sometimes I have to remind myself that the show isn't about her, since about the only episodes not featuring Faith that I rewatch regularly are Once More With Feeling and Tabula Rasa. Honestly, if they'd explored her more, she'd be the most interesting character in the series -- I definitely think she had the most potential. And, since I'm unable to be a fan of something without being a shipper for something that doesn't happen (I have no luck), I love Buffy and Faith together, and remember being convinced during season 3 that it was going to happen. I was most convinced it was going to happen during the Bronze scene in Bad Girls... yeah, we know how that ends.

Now that I've gushed enough about Faith (I tend to do that a lot, my girlfriend is surprisingly tolerant), I'll just mention other things. I love Firefly and was quite depressed when I finished the show and the movie since there wasn't any more available (I'll get to the comics at some point). I also absolutely love Dollhouse despite how polarizing the show was (yes, a large part of me loving it is Eliza -- not the only reason, but a reason), and felt much the same kind of depression when I got to the end of it.

But yeah, I've talked enough about myself. So hello, I'm here now. I'm sure I've bored you enough, but hopefully I don't keep doing that in the future.

Welcome!
Hi ya, welcome to the boards! 🙂 Always nice to have another Faith fan

I can agree with you that the quality of Angel is somewhat lower than Buffy, but it's still an enjoyable show. 🙂

Yeah, "fan" may be selling it a little short -- I'm kind of obsessed with Faith, to an almost unhealthy degree. In fact, if you get me started talking about her, I just will not stop until someone forces me to.

And yeah, Angel is overall not as good as Buffy (it's probably my least favorite of Joss's shows, with Buffy at the top and Dollhouse and Firefly about tied in the middle), but it does have its real high points, especially from my perspective (I mentioned it above, but Five by Five and Sanctuary, taken together, are pretty much perfect, and my favorite episodes from either series), and it's not a bad show by any means, just more flawed than Buffy.

WOoooooo another Faith/Eliza fan 😀 Hello and welcome to the world of BB 😀

Yeah, huge fan, has become kind of an obsession with me. She's just magnetic and draws my attention every time she's on screen.

Welcome to the site!

Hope to see you around the boards. 😉

I'll probably be sticking around -- I've gotten really into the fandom, and this is the perfect place to get even more obsessed (though that may be a dangerous thing...)

Good to have you here! That was a pretty awesome intro. Totally agree on the lack of Faith development on Buffy (and the lack of Faith on Buffy in...um...other ways you mentioned 😀).

BB is a great place, so I'm sure you'll have fun.

I just talk a lot -- I was actually going to make this intro even longer, but I stopped myself because I knew I was writing too much already. And yeah, I find the lack of Faith disturbing (I am so sorry for that joke), but the Angel and Faith series, as well as excessive amounts of fanfiction, are making that better.

And I'm already having fun here -- it's been a long time since I've been active in any fandom (about 7 years, really), and I forgot how fun it is.

On a random thought: I just watched What's My Line (both parts), and seeing Kendra there reminded me of just how much I missed Faith. She and Buffy are amazing together.

Hey and welcome!!! Faith and "Firefly" fans are always welcome in my book! 😉

Fair enough about the quotes. I've been on the internet so long I've almost forgotten that rule. Italics would make more sense.
:welcome: to the boards! I'm glad you've joined and see someone that appriciates both Firefly and Dollhouse as well. I do understand why Buffy is more popular than Angel but I prefer Angel. Although it took some time before I came to that conclusion. I also like Faith better in that show. Hope to see you around.

Since you like Eliza, have you watched Tru Calling?

I prefer Buffy to Angel, but I haven't quite finished Angel yet -- it just doesn't quite work as well overall for me as Buffy does. Maybe my opinion will change -- I don't know, but so far, it is what it is. I really like Faith's arc in Angel, but I'm really not sure which one I like her in more.

And no, I haven't watched Tru Calling. Not because I don't want to -- I definitely want to watch it, I just haven't really had the chance to yet. I was going to watch it from the moment I saw Eliza was the lead in it, but then I saw the main concept of the show described as, basically, Groundhog Day meets Pushing Daisies, and I realized I can't not watch it. But I'll get to it sometime after I've finished Angel.
